Tips BetAt Visa Debit Deposits

this seems to me to be happening when people are using verified by visa. and that's alarming because verified by visa pose to protect you better from fraud..

That's not correct. I'm going through 3D secure and verified transactions they aren't being charged and authorised. it's happening with specific accounts by which a deposits would be charged and authorised at the same time. it should be only authorised and then authorisation cleared after a day - it allows my team to cancel the deposit if there is need.

It would appear to be specific to banks and something that is happening on the banking side itself but i need my gateway confirmation for the next step. I'll reach out to you via PM as soon as we make progress.

I deposit everyday via debit card mainly. whats happening is. say I have £10k in my bank, I make a £5k deposit at betat. now only £5k is available in my account to spend or withdraw. now few days later the £5k is coming out like it should, then when I look in my bank account. the £5k is waiting to be processed again!

that's where the duplicate is coming in. I use verified by visa, but for some reason when betat are going to take out your deposit via debit card. its actually taking the right amount first. then it is duplicating it again.

you now have to wait 5 days and you can see they haven't actually took the other money out. and it now becomes available again!

this is not good as if I only have say £10k in my bank, they would take 5k, and the other 5k would be tied up until this 5 day lark again, then released when betat have not gone to take it out again.

Can i ask you kindly to raise this with customer services so it is properly investigated? Have we really blocked 5,000 for you wobble? that seems well beyond the transactional limit - in that case there may be other issues going on?

That sounds as if the card is being 'dipped' BEFORE you get to the VBV stage when you enter the amount and proceed with the transaction, then as you say dipped again afterwards for the actual transaction which of course is never claimed and refunded.
The initial removal from your balance is called the 'authorization hold' and debits from your available funds not your headline balance. However, if the amount of the transaction is above the floor limit of that retailer, the card issuer will earmark the funds on your account at the time the transaction is made. That could account for the issue, especially if sending big amounts.

oh no igor. that was just an example...I will have a word on live chat now..this is the reason I pm you to see if we could get to the bottom of this, because this has being going on a while now. I only mentioned it because I see someone on this thread had similar problems a while ago. and I thought yeah I noticed this a lot too.
 
to be dead honest with you we only got notified of 4 cases in total through proper channels, one of which was a Canadian bank that actually had no authorisation facilities and it got sorted by talking to the bank and payment gateway directly, and 3 cases collected from here. that's about it.

Although, there really is a lesson in here - any issue, please DO raise with CS. they will pester and escalate and push and if more cases appear we can pressure the gateway on a more general scale. Oh, and there's more of them (Support i mean) - there's one of me and this is a side-line thing for me: you'll notice there's 2 other guys representing us. I'm really here for self education and fun :)

so if you can, please do write an email to support, detail the problem, provide screenshots if you can and transactional details - we can take that to the payment gateways and the banks and it will have more substance.

On that note, I'm always available. Your best bet it to send me a pm or flag me to the post. Busy days in CM, posts sometimes bump off the board rather quickly and it's easy to miss. Send me a holler, and where I'm not able to help, I can escalate it and move it to other parties who can. And as always live and email support is your first best source.:thumbsup:

thank you. I have just had a long chat with Daniel. he knows all about it now. he is very informative because he worked as a banker, and knew exactly what I was saying about what was happening. he is going to investigate the problem and get back to me :thumbsup:
