What's Ya Weather At?

well, after a craptacularly long winter, a spring almost entirely of rain and cold, finally into a series of beautiful, sunny days

beaches will still be cold as Hell for any swimming, but deffo glorious for days out and nighttime bonfires

now, if only the bajillion mosquitoes would ef off somewhere and die :p

And the black flies...

45 Degrees in France today

Bit hot innit

Nearly 46c actually, that's insane, breaking all-time temperature records this early in the year in many European countries.

Luckily we'll get 30-33c just for a day on Saturday, more bearable.

I just checked the Exeter Radar, and you guys are getting slammed right now. Just gusts of wind where I am, and hot.

29 and rain here :) so, hot and sticky, and not in the fun way :P

Lovely day yesterday, 27c meant a day in the garden drinking gin (and secretly playing the VS battles on the sly) and enjoying the sun.

As the sun went down the sky resembled a stormy sea, it looked cool.

Well, June temperature records were smashed in many parts of Europe last month, seems the same could happen for July. The missus is away on holiday this week with daughter and her friend, picked a great week!

I've got to do the gardening today, so will get out there now to avoid the afternoon temperatures in the low 90's (Scotland excepted):D

Why are you not on holiday with your misses ? :cheerleader:

22 degrees celsius here on the Irish east coast with a nice sea breeze...
Rather have this than the temperatures back home in The Netherlands where it could go to 40+ this week, not normal anymore if you ask me...

Overcast here 26degrees walking the dug and it's very humid like you would experience in Florida.Old Attachment (Invalid)Old Attachment (Invalid)
Do we just put x where we can spot the differences?

:D
I see your in London just incase your not familiar with some of the things in the pic
The green stuff at the bottom of the pic is (grass)
The bluey stuff to the left is (water)
The 2 large pointy things in the far distance are (Mountains):D
We have lots of 'grass' here and something resembling water, but you lost me on the big rocky things. Muntians? Moontans?

Scorching hot here in sweden atm.
And since the viking gods cursed me with an orange beard and fair skin, its kind of a pain in the ass for me.
My bodys idea of getting a tan is more about giving me a buttload of freckles. :)
Oh, also im allergic to summer (pollen).
Cant wait for winter to arrive again. :P

I just hope i dont have to wait as long as they did in game of thrones for it to come.

If you saw her you'd know why.
Seriously, I'd be the only male there and bored witless - it's a holiday for me home alone as I won't have to listen to crappy TV in the house, I won't get moaned at for farting and can generally chill.

31.2C here at the moment. London could see 38C on Thursday....

Bet you it doesn't. Extreme weather induces Chinese whispers in the UK, each purveyor of news adding on a degree until we get utter bollocks. We heard the same for the hot days in June, never got close. One poxy day hit 34c. Nowhere near any records.

(waits for post to be quoted Thursday evening when record actually does go for July...)

Straight from the Metoffice mate!

I'm an amateur meteorologist so I can tell you the possibility of beating the all time UK record is there.

All depends on the lower level surface flow on Thursday.

I was just looking at the latest GFS and the general area around London seems to be around 30-32°C. The city heat from London could push it a little higher but 38 is going to be hard.

Actually, if we're talking about a British Isles record (technically not UK as the Channel Islands are bailiwicks or UK protectorates) it could be Jersey as that island hit 36c today. :eek2:

Not checked the latest model runs mate as I'm working. You on Netweather forum?

Just checked the raw GFS 12z data and its showing 35/36 for Thursday.

They pulled it out the road. It was about 14 feet long, and 5 feet wide.
Jeez lucky nobody was hurt. I think it was 2012 on my way home from work one dreadful winter night with gale force winds and rain. I was driving along a straight piece of road when a huge lorry coming towards me serves onto my side of the road for a head on collision. I am not a fast driver so hit the brakes thinking what the hell is he doing. We manage to stop about 6 feet away from each other and at the same time a huge 40ft tree had fallen on the side of the road he should of been on (the trunk did).

Being so big he had managed to ride the branches that fell on our side but some were all mangled underneath the lorry. Whilst I had stopped about a foot away from the tip of it.

The next thing that happened was quite amazing. After assessing the situation very quickly (it seemed like nobody actually said anything) everybody just did what they needed to do. The queue of traffic behind the lorry all backed up, the lorry reversed leaving this great lump of tree and mangled branches blocking the road.

Those of us at the front were all quite big blokes luckily and the only way we can move is if we get rid of the tree. The opposite side of the road had a fairly big verge so we just started carrying branches and dumping them out of the way. As people further back realised what was happening they all got out aswell. We literally cleared the road in minutes. Luckily the trunk had broken in a couple of places and it took about 30 of us to shift the big piece.

Just as we had finished the police turned up. Wound the window down asked if we had a problem because someone had reported it. We said not now they said you’ve done a good job and drove off. Nobody really spoke we just all got in our vehicles and drove off.

I often think about that night and when people ask how’s your luck. I always say it depends what your basing it on. As gamblers we always tend to answer with regards to how much we have recently won or lost. Since then I always say pretty good actually.

The strange thing is because of the pace everything happened I didn’t take it in properly. I stopped about 2 mile further on for petrol. Walked into the garage to pay and I started to go into delayed shock. It was a really weird feeling, totally surreal for a few minutes. Yeah often think we are talking very fine lines. The lorry driver obviously saw it falling, I didn’t until it was almost in front of me. If he hadn’t forced me to slow down, if he had been just a couple of seconds later. Who knows. Sometimes you just thank your lucky stars.

Reminded me of this dashcam vid.
Closest ive been to a similar thing was when lightning struck the boat 4-5 minutes after we had tied it up to the bridge at our summerhouse.
We had been out fishing but started to head back when the weather turned to shit. By the time we reached the bridge it was a full on storm with crazy waves.
We were inside just getting out of the wet clothes when we were blinded by the lightning thru the window, followed by the loudest bang ive ever heard. I imagine its as close to a flashbang ill ever come. =)
I was sure it had struck the cabin, but after a few minutes and a second change of underwear we went out to inspect things, and saw it had hit the boat.
Now its just a fun story, but it took a while to calm down on the night it happened.

Edit: The people in the car was ok!
