NetSpend Visa Users BEWARE!!!!!

This is what I've come to know about the All Access gift card. The one you buy for $9.95, the reloadable one, you cannot use right off the bat to fund your online account. I primarily play sports betting. Everytime I tried to load with it (the one without my own name on it) it was denied. Someone said that it wouldn't work online until I got the personalized one and then registered it. Maybe that is why you got the green card, because it is only good for ATM use until the personalized card arrives. That, or it was an error in packaging. The non-reload cards don't work anymore for me at all. The gift 2 go cards don't either, plus you have to wait 2 hours now for it to activate. Again, I usually bet sports so I'm not privey to the straight casino processors. The point of my story is the reload card didn't work online until I got the personalized one.

Right. If you buy one in a package, like at Albertson's or Safeway it wont work right away. You'll probably get the green thing I got stuck with. BUT if you buy one form A.C.E. or a similar establishment, where a counter person enters your info into the system in relation to the card you are purchasing at the point of purchase, then when you go online all the info is associated with the new card and it works just like a personalized one. Your name isn't on the card yet but your name, social, DOB, address, etc. was entered when the counter person hands you the temp card, NOT a package, so all this info is tied in and that's what the casino processor sees. When your personalized card arrives in the mail, the activation of that card cancels the temporary and everything transfers to the custom card. I've purchased 5 NetSpend All Access Visas THIS way and they all work online from the gate including the one I purchased Friday.

MY recent experience with NetSpend All Access Visas (my first and only one so far) is I handed the card package to the cashier and told her I wanted to put $100 on it .. total ending up being $109.95 .. ($9.95 activation fee)...no giveing out MY private info to a store clerk which i had mixed feelings about.

Then I went home and registered the card on-line at the Netspend site and started useing it right ... this was about a week ago and am still waiting for my PERMENENT card with name, etc on it (takes 7-10 working days they say)

However, I have 're-loaded' this temp card a couple of times thru Western Union with NO problems .. (costs $4.50 but worth it to me for each re-load).

This card is well worth the extra small costs incured just for the 'peace of mind' of knowing my real credit cards and debit cards are NOT on-line somewhere in some database that can be mis-used, etc!!!

So, I HIGHLY recommend useing the NetSpend All Access Visa Card (NOT the debit ones) to anyone who has concerns like I had and expressed above!

EXACTYLY why I use a NetSpend: to protect my credit cards and bank debit card/account numbers. HOWEVER-again, the reason for this thread is that the first time I bought a packaged card, at Albertson's, two weeks ago, I got what's pic'd down there (I know, I forgot the pics when I started this thread so they're in the 11th post, sorry). And THAT card is no good anywhere online and I was stuck for 2 weeks til I finally went to my A.C.E. for a good temporary card. I cancelled the green one the day before the personalized one arrived. So what. Good riddence. Probably hexed anyway. All I give them at A.C.E. is my name, DOB, address, phone and social security (sounds like alot but no more than you'd enter at a casino when registering a card cept the social security number, which A.C.E. does not forward). Because I never carry ID I also had my DL scanned and entered into their system so I can use any A.C.E. store - but that's just me. Not to a grocery store clerk but to the manager of the ACE where I've done business -send MoneyGrams, cash checks I don't want to get in the mix with my bank, etc. almost on a weekly business for five years. None of my bank info or CC info is ever exposed to A.C.E. or anything online.

Again, I started this thread just a heads up that what you see on the NetSpend package may NOT be what's inside. OK you might get lucky but I'm savin mine for the casino! :D
