My online slots videos (plus UK AWPs)

I appreciate that 'Compensated fruit machine could be emptied due to dodgy code' isn't exactly headline news at this point of the thread, but nonetheless, here's another one!

The method to do this one is pretty interesting.

Do you want to listen to an interview with me? Almost certainly not, I'm sure!

But here it is anyway.

A guy who runs a YT channel called 'Cheerful Pessimist' asked if he could interview me for his channel (his channel is also UK fruit machine focused), so a few weeks ago we spent a while rabbiting away with each other on a Skype call.

He's had the interview up on his channel for several weeks now, split into multiple parts. I asked him if he'd mind me doing my own take on it for my channel (same audio, different visuals), and he said that was fine.

So here's my version of it, the audio is unchanged, I've just layered my own visuals over it.

Slightly amazingly, I got a Content ID match for this video because of the short clip of an ancient episode of 'Wish You Were Here' for some of the visuals I used....

Yeah, I watch Degsy's channel, along with those recently mentioned above, some great stories and info which I can 90% of the time relate to.

Being meaning to mention this for a while and this thread and point in time seem suitable.

Think its been mentioned somewhere in this thread in the past (REALLY can't be arsed to search) but I know "old school" AWP players sometimes look for retro fruities in the TV shows and films they watch, more so as "oh look, there's a Blue Moon" , "remember the streak on those" type scenario.

Recently started watching the old comedy/drama 'Teachers' on channel 4 stream. The pub they use after school seems to have loads of old AWP's in it, not sure if they were promoting them even during filming as they change really often, some I can't quite make out but seen a Cloud 9, Cash Counter, Club Cop's n Robbers to name a few.

May sound a bit sad but 99% confident, I am not alone with this situation lol.

First episode of A Touch of Frost when he's in a pub just after finding out his wife had passed away...

We talk about that very thing in the video - direct timestamped link :)

We also have an entire thread dedicated to this over at Desert Island Fruits.

That was a blast from the past, the part where you show the emu that listed all the included layouts, I made every single one of those that were included as Chris didn’t do layouts that was my ”job” back then as we were the only ones that had the full emu. I see the super blackjack layout you showed had my name stripped from it as usual lol. The video was a good representation of how things were with the machines and emu back then so well done.

Don't know if you've seen these @Reelsoffun , but I've previously made two videos specifically about fruit machine emulation history, which go into a lot more detail on the subject (as opposed to in the video above which was a single question about the topic in an interview).

And yes I know you did all of the original batch of 'classic' layouts that came with the version of the emulator I bought off Chris :) Not sure what you mean about your name having been stripped off though? That's the layout that was originally supplied by Chris to me, on a CD through the post back in 2001. (Pretty sure it is anyway!)

Yeah saw those, and I did over 500 layouts by the end, way too much time on my hands back then clearly! My screen that I had at the time was only 1024x768 hence why they were all at that size and high tech and clubs were the ultimate challenge.
I doubt many on this forum know I was involved in emulation and made the connection that I was Chris’s right hand for many, many years till his passing.

TBH it was chris that took out my name from the layouts at that time, my later releases always had my name and date completed in the top bar, until people wanted to pass as their own.

So scary to think this all was happening over 25 years ago now, feeling pretty old!

Until I while back I had one of the very first versions of it, the reels just displayed text!

orange plum grape Don’t think it will catch on……. ;)

I went to the pub and had a punt on a random £500 jackpot machine. (I was also a bit pissed hence the rambling conspiratorial section.)

94% RTP, £1 play.

Ah oceans 11, I have the par sheets for that game somewhere, there is two profiles / versions of that game “soft” and “hard”

With jackpot frequency being the main difference.

Have you made a sim version of it? It'd be nice to be able to play it without risking wedges of real cash :D

Nah mate, never did that one, mostly because it wasn’t my cup of tea, didn’t really like the math on that one as you probably found out from the 5 scatter pay being a tad poor, did you ever get that last sim I sent you past the windows defender nag?

In testing it has hit this monster a while back and still hasn’t hit anything bigger!

As you cannot get a max ways in the bonus, I had to laugh at that. Perhaps hide the image or BTG will be selling it on their merchandise shopfront soon.

haha, was pretty funny hearing your drunk brain trying to calculate the current RTP when your balance was at £24.50.

Like you knew its definitely not 24% profit, and it should be simple maths, but 24% seems accurate enough to accept when drunk

LOL, it’s not photoshopped it’s a working slot, based loosely on bonanza as it’s one of my favourite games.

the way my game works math wise is no cascades, and you are guaranteed a minimum of 1 max ways in the bonus. each win also increases the multiplier and awards 1 extra spin. It is more volatile than bonanza, think bonanza meets a hacksaw. :D

I have actually changed some of the math since that picture was taken, and looking at a max win cap to keep it sensible.

In my defence I was a fair few drinks in at that point.....

On one level I do miss the old compensated fruit machines (as I could consistently win on those), but for a simple drunken punt, the random machines are pretty good fun, and 94% isn't even such a bad RTP versus online these days! (And you can just play them with money, and win money, without having to hand over your life's details to some Malta based outfit!)

Does it actually keep to 96% RTP, even with it being capable of doing things like that?

Not sure I fully understand what your asking, the math is designed to 96.03% so would hit that “eventually” but if your implying that, due to the volatility its going to be running at below then you would be correct 99% of the time, like all HV slots if you don’t hit a good one early your gonna be running below RTP potentially for a long time, until you hit a rare massive hit.

Why don’t you run a few hundred thousand spins through and let me know lol

I see the phrase "few hundred thousand spins" and I think back to the Starburst challenge... never did see that full screen in the end?

I can't recall exactly how many spins I got to before giving up, there's a video from years ago that I'll reupload to my new channel at some point. IIRC it was something in the region of 250,000 spins and it didn't hit the top prize of 500x.

Well your sim has hit 158,000x there, so that needs to be accounted for in the RTP somewhere :) Does it still even out to 96% over a large enough spin sample?
