Has Atlantic Interbet folded?

I could have seen this excuse being used in the months immediately after, but 15 months later? Plus, the tragedy had ZERO impact on e-commerce, which had already taken a turn for the worse.

I never was an AIB fan. And I am certainly not now.

Hi all,

I worked for iB/Aib for 7 years and I made so many wonderful friends. I am devastated by the events that have transpired over the past month. I was working my 3pm tournament on Saturday, November 30,2002 when I received and ICQ from a player asking when the casino would be back up. She said she was getting the closed for maintenance message. I told her I was in the casino working a tourney but only had 3 players plus ozidream and myself in the casino. Shortly after I booted and got the same message when I tried to re-enter.

I can honestly say staff had no warning that we would be closing on November 30. Shad, ozidream,Wendy,TruBlu, osito, Ride and myself have worked VERY hard over the years to make Atlantic interbet a success. We believed in the wonderful software Mark had created and knew it was the best Casino on the interbet and had hoped with proper management we could turn things around.

I am VERY loyal to an employer when they believe in me enough to hire me. I was fortunate at Aib that I was allowed to work and be myself. I LOVE what I did there as the tournament director. I have made some wonderful friendships over the years that hopefully will continue to grow. I personally can get up in the mornings and look myself in the mirror knowing I did everything I could without compromising my beliefs. I also know there will always be one or two people that will never believe what I / we have to say but those are the people that will ALWAYS look for the bad in everything. That I cannot control. Ive never been a told ya so kind of woman. Id prefer to learn and grow from my/others mistakes.

My mailbox has been filled since the day Aib closed with letters from our players/friends asking what had happened and if they would be receiving their money back. I called the owners and was asked to send a letter out to our players telling them all withdraws had been processed as of 11/30/02 and EVERYONE would receive their money. I sent the letter out but was told by everyone they had not nor have they received a dime yet. I have answered every letter I have received diligently. I could do like others and ignore my e-mail but I choose to keep the players up to date with ANY info I have, which is VERY limited.

My name is all I have. I feel sending that letter out compromised my name. I know I have and will always continue to be honest and trustworthy in everything I do. I cannot control what others do nor will I try. I feel this entire situation has made the staff look bad also, and that saddens me. There will always be people that think we know more than we do.

What most people dont know is that staff was asked to take a half pay cut after the events of 911 and we gladly took a cut in pay to help out. That was over a year ago and we had still not received full pay as of the closing of Aib. I think that alone should allow people to see we did what we did in Aib because we LOVED it there and loved our players enough to do ANYTHING we could to help out. We certainly werent working there for the money. LMAO :) The more I gave, they more I was asked to give, which I did willingly as I believed in the software and the staff I worked with. Some people are givers, some are takers, and I know who and what I am and continue to hold my head up high. :)

I would like to thank everyone that has e-mailed me with words of comfort and encouragement. I think if I were on the players end I would be leery also of staff but I have found words of love and encouragement from everyone. Hopefully they know I am trying to be as honest as I can with the limited information I have because as you see I too am in the dark. My phone calls have gone unanswered also.

I am now in the process of looking for another job in a Casino online. Hopefully I will find one because I do love working online. I like to believe I am very good at what I do. Believe me, this month I have been SO bored. LOL

MANY players have e-mailed me asking me to let them know if I go to work at another casino online, as they would follow me. Youll never know how touched I am by your trust and comments. I truly believe I would be an asset for any employer. I am and always have been a team player.

Its hard to work 40 70 hours a week for a company then one day find yourself with nothing to do. YES I worked 40-70 hours a week in Aib. I like to think that would show a little something about me. I believed in Aib and was willing to work HARD to do my part to help it succeed.

I can honestly say I too feel betrayed. I gave everything I had, as did all of the employees of Aib. It saddens me to see how disposable staff as well as the players was. You think this has been easy for us? PLEASE think again. This has been devastating. To give all you have and then to just be discarded is not something that is easy to take.

I would like to wish everyone good luck and I pray you get your money. Please feel free to continue to e-mail me, I will answer all e-mail ASAP.

I miss you all,

Faye ( ***HRTofQUEEN)

Good for you, Faye. I personally have seen and have heard of letters that have been signed by Wendy, you and other members of staff giving ridiculous reasons for locking players out, i.e., you have won too much! What kind of customer service is that? Bullcrap is what I say. David and Michelle did nothing but bury AiB and take the players on a merry ride. You cannot tell me with a straight face that Wendy did not know it was coming. Don't even go there. I hope that the players email David at his other company, DAGAR, and chargeback until they cannot chargeback any more. The entire staff of AiB and iB should be banned forever from working with any reputable online casino. By the way, since you all have nothing left to "give", why don't you give the players a real gift? A phone number for the owners that the players can use to contact them.

If I am not mistaken, Michelle is David's wife. There has been some confusion as to David's last name. Am not sure that he is a Roffman. I know that Arnie, Mark, and Steven originally started iB/AiB, but am not so certain that David was family.

I have spoken with Faye (HrtofQueen) and it appears that I owe her an apology. Wendy, who was let go from AiB before the closing apparently insinuated that Faye had been involved in some of the "locked accounts" by her correspondence. Faye says that she was not involved and if that is the case, then I owe her an apology. I spent a great deal of time working there, for no compensation, and Wendy and a woman named "Lins" made my life a living hell for some time after I resigned. I have no doubt that there were some good pits left (like Faye), but there were many bad ones also. Unfortunately, they all get grouped in together when something this atrocious happens. My apologies to Faye. But I still stand by my statement that AiB stunk towards the end and that SOMEONE there knew exactly what was going on before they closed.

Hi stephanie,

Thank you for correcting that. You said my name was listed under Wendys when a letter was sent out banning a player. I Have never sent a letter out like that nor would I appreciate someone adding my name to a letter like that without my knowledge.

Thanks for refreshing my memory to who you were when you worked in iB. I do remember you as a hard worker that was unfairly treated by a couple of people. The things you said were done to you when you left were cruel and vendictive.

People like youself gave of themselves with no compensation and I for one appreciated all of the volunteers in iB. Some of the staff/managers in iB just took themselves way to seriously LMAO It was suppose to be a place to go to have FUN.

Somehow that concept was lost on a few bad apples that were on a power trip. They took the fun out of iB.

I think sfeagle was referring to the whole ugly incident with Gramsey. From what I remember of that, she said it was signed by wendy, nothing to do with you Hrt.

I always thought Hrt was one of the good ones at AIB, and I believe she is telling us the truth. I'm amazed that she is apparently the only one with enough guts to come out and post here in public.

Where is the AIB management?? Running? Hiding? Counting the dollars from all the players who are still owed money from as far back as October?? Stop asking the employees to deliver messages for you and come out speak for yourselves.

Support staff were really helpful at AIB the few times I played there.

This is off-topic, but I'm curious. Do staff at online casino work from one physical address or are they scattered all over, going online when it's their shift?

Also, someone mentioned they were working for nothing for most of the time? Is that because of not being paid, or was it as a volunteer.

It's a little worrying when perhaps confidential info could be accessed from all over the place and by people who aren't actually employees.

I think you make a very good point there Vickinz. I'm not sure how many other operations rely on "volunteers" to help man their Support activities or why people would do that, but it certainly raises concerns.

Okay, I will attempt to explain this situation a little better. iB was a sister site to AiB and was supposedly the testing ground for the "pay to play" site. I volunteered with iB for quite a long time and as a volunteer, got to know many of those, including Wendy, who went on to AiB. As a pit in iB, I had no access to anyone's confidential information. None at all. But a lot of the people who had volunteered in iB eventually went on to AiB as paid employees. I was not one of them.

Thanks Sfeagle for clarifying a bit of it.

However, can you or Wendy, answer query re whether paid staff go "in" to one location to work or are they scattered, logging on when it's their shift. If scattered, then I doubt whether they were interviewed face to face and security checked before being taken on.

I really hate the thought of a pc-smarty being able to use any employees' pc to find out stuff they should not have access to. And what happens to info which any employee might choose to copy, after a casino shuts down as AIB has done?

A very long time ago, David Roffman posted a players personal details on this forum. The player considered this a violation of the terms of his/her casino membership. I believe this message is still on the archives of Casinomeister, if anyone cares to search for it.

I was never impressed by AIB. I lost $2000 in like 10 minutes to thier bj game, playing only $25 a bet (if I remember correctly). I rarely have had a game take my money so quickly. Also, what a pain it was to deposit and withdraw here. I had to go on another website, depsoit to an unknown ecash company. Then it took 20 minutes or sometimes an hour for the deposit to clear. Than I had to go back to the website after it cleared to transfer monies in the casino. Then, when I got back to the casino I had to enter another code for the $$$ to finally appear as credits.
Enough was enough. I had never seen such foolishness in all my life. To top it off, the pit crew thier was incredibly rude to me, never once thanking me for thier business.

The one good thing about AIB were thier tournaments. They were well run, and when the site first started, people made a lot of friends there and had a ball while laughing all the way to the bank. Other casinos need to capitalize on
the way AIB originally ran thier tournaments. It was a smart idea. But other than that,, AiB offererd nothing special.

As for Hrt I was very impressed by her message above.

To answer the question as to where the staff from AIB worked from...the answer is they worked from their homes. Wendy is in Virgina, Hrt is in California, etc. Also, yes the pits DO have access to all of your personal information. AIB used to double and triple charge their players. Also, if you funded with your debit card, they would just go into your bank account and withdraw at will.

Not a direct response to any particular post. I played at AIB for more than 2 years and made many friends.

I continued to play at the casino when it was apparent to me that it was struggling, continually modified tournament formats, extremely slow payment etc, but that was my choice and my risk. That aside, the manner in which AIB has chosen to wind up its operations is an absolute disgrace, totally disrepectful of staff and players and one that, unfortunately, appears unique to this particular industry.

I especially wish Hrt and Shad good luck and extend my sympathies to these 2 people who were extremely friendly at all times, made the experience a pleasure and now find themselves without a job through no fault of their own. It would appear that good software and good staff obviously don't compensate for incompetencies at higher levels in the organisation.

Well, it's horrifying that employees are not interviewed face to face and security checked and that one's personal financial info can be acessed by a lot of unkown people!

I'm afraid that is probably the case with all the gambling sites using their own unique software. It costs money to do background checks, provide computer security, and so forth. Some companies are two people with a computer--like 1cnp.

Atlantic Interbet was using volunteers, that's being pretty cheap.

Actually thier system of using volunteers (who might eventually become paid employees) was a pretty good idea, and in my personal opinion, this was not what lead to thier downfall.

I sincerely hope these volunteers didn't have access to all my confidential info.

From gambling911.com

01.04.03 (2:12 PM EST) - Continuing saga of Atlantic Interbet. Owner currently away on vacation will continue working to get servers transferred and payouts made this coming week.

Why wouldn't they have told their own employees (the pits at AIB), let alone all of their very patient and loyal customers, that they were moving to Costa Rica instead of just shutting down without warning? They've been telling the customers that their money was all sent to them on 11/30, so why would they have to make payouts next week?

I wasn't going to respond but I read the comments from HRTofQUEEN and couldn't resist to make a response.
Before everyone passes out hankies to weep for the poor HRTofQUEEN lets share a little eye opener about the innocent HRT
Well, for starters she was Marks right hand person before he was caught stealing from the company. HRT had no problem kissing up to whoever was in charge at that time and Mark used that to his full advantage. She says how she didn't like the ones on the power trips but I gather she never looked in the mirror.
She was the biggest person on a power trip she was rude and obnoxious to most of the iB staff and to even ones that thought they were her friends. I will add that MsInnocent HRT was and intricate part of the password clicking scam where Mark was collecting money from interBet. So if you want to talk about the demise of iB and AIB you can start looking in her direction with her pal Mark. If they didnt steal from the business its possible interBet and AIB might still be here today.
It was that situation that started the roller ball of the casinos demises. I think as soon as she realized that she might go down with her friend Mark, she all of a sudden changed sides to David, the owner of iB. Its a shame David did not see right through her and her conniving ways.
Please don't let her fool you with all her self praises she wouldn't know how to be a loyal employee/person if it slapped her in the face.
Oh and if you were treated unfairly in AIB I would think she had full knowledge of it. Don't put anything past her and her devious ways.

What is this 'password clicking scam' you mentioned?? I've never heard of it.

JPM I will explain it to you. In order to get into the Suites you first had to go to various advertising sites, click on them, then get the password. Now, mind you, there were 15 suites for both the Atlantic City and Las Vegas sides. So you had to go to 30 different sites, click on them to get the passwords. It is such a coincidence that HRT and Mark got a piece of every click made by every patron. Also, the passwords changed every single day, and on rare occassions twice a day. Additionally, if you were to page someone to give them the passwords, instead of getting your message, they would receive a message saying "sending passwords is wrong and I wont do it". I must agree with Truth's post. She told everything just the way it was. HRT is a mean, cheating SOB. When I would be online she would IM me with very cruel statements. I did not kiss her butt and that infuriated her. So if anyone was on a Power Trip it was definitely HRTofQueen. If any other casino were to hire her, they should have their heads examined first.
