That's pretty much true from a practical perspective.
The whole ethos behind formatting a new monthly FS/NDB thread is in response to the membership requests, who didn't like the old ones being pulled - which was for several good reasons, unwieldy, hard to manage and requiring excessive moderation on occasion. The monthly refresh will also ensure the majority of offers are still live when you read them, something that had no boundary on the old and gigantic thread.
The RED font was simply an easy way (in response to previous comments on the old thread(s) to highlight offers to help users skim fast and stop where they want to read. It's perfectly logical, although as people are pointing out may be a little inconvenient. The logic is simple enough; imagine I gave you a 400-page book and asked you to flip through the pages and find a sentence on page 198 and had highlighted it with a marker - it would take seconds compared to my not having done so.
The second bone of contention seems to be the linking - now as I stated a short while back, this whole thing is a work in progress and is subject to improvement, probably via a script or tools to assist the poster. A few people are working hard behind the scenes to make this work and have listened as I already pointed out.
A likely solution to the first would be a scripted template. For now, as Chipkin has pointed out here, it's not the be-all and end-all if somebody doesn't use red for reasons of a mobile device. The offer would still be posted, and it's simple enough for myself or another mod to retrospectively highlight it.
There is an idea in place too which will auto-link the casino name, to save you digging it out yourselves. It would work in a similar fashion to when you alert a another member with an ampersand, i.e.
@Casinomeister .
As for tetchy tone you say I have used on occasion - remember there are a few of us working here to try and reinstate a thread you guys have requested and we are seeing equally tetchy comments, which thus far have included the words 'retarded, idiotic and stupid'. I know a few people who would have given it up at that point and binned it.
We realize many would have like the old free for all thread, but the decision has been take to lose it. I'm sure an acceptable compromise will result, the sooner the better!
EDIT - when I posted this I hadn't seen Bryans reply immediately above.
