Am I the only one that was offended by jods post? Calling a fellow member an idiot? making fun of the way they type? Saying they look like a piece of crap to most members? Encouraging members to negative rep them? What the fuck??

I don't know oren1976 from jack....but there is an obvious language barrier (they say they are from Thailand)....and maybe they had a hard time getting their point across. I didn't find anything in their post to warrant jods attack.

Oren1976 gets banned yet jod can viciously flame away and encourage hatred?? Sickening!!

Why do mods turn a blind eye to this sort of activity?

You would be incorrect to assume you know what goes on outside the public threads and behind the scenes. We often handle these things privately, as I am in the process of doing regarding some of the recent posts in that particular thread.

i missed the whole thread as i cannot play at party casino so i just wasnt interested. however, you have a point. when we talk about flaming and the like and then some members get the flak and then banned ideally this should be as transparent and fair process as far as possible. while not faulting jod's #28 post, i believe that her comments in the 3rd paragraph were out of line though personally i am comfortable with the rest.

If you really was offended by her post, then my opinion is that you should have contacted the mods privately or/and reported the post.

I don't think it is necessary to start a new public thread, it will only look like you have a bad motive. Threads like this will only lead to backstabbing posts.

I think it did need to be talked about openly. There really are a few that get away with too much. They derail threads, cause commotion, take away from the point and generally irritate all the while insulting and demeaning those that may have differing views. That isn't classy nor adult behaviour.

as bad as the OP claims post 28 was bad, and it was, look at post 79 from the same member. That is outrageous and uncalled for.

For the enjoyment of all members this cannot be tolerated or cheered on. Nifty's posts are very often like that. It makes me stop reading the entire thread when he starts his wars. I just want to read and share with everyone then there is always these angry, insulting posts from him.

I'm glad gaydave stood his ground respectfully and I am glad that funeral brought this to light. Perhaps it will lead to less attitude, less insults and more courteous postings so that threads don't devolve into arguements between a few who gang up on other members.

Max, I believe you could take the lead in this and be a little less disdainful and hostile towards people even if they do happen to have a differing viewpoint than your own. We all need to respect each others opinions or it is not worth maintaining membership here any longer.

I don't think jod's post was the post which got oren banned, just my opinion and interpretation. I think oren did that to him/herself on their own without any help. If you don't like a certain poster, use the ignore function or use the report function.

That's key for whether or not I take action. I don't read every post/thread so unless something is reported it will pass me by. In fact tbh, I don't even go to the bonus forum unless prompted. If 1 person reports a post I take a look and decide. If several people report a post then I start to think this is regarded offensive.

The defintion of flaming can be interpreted in different ways by different people. To a degree I think if you take part in confrontational discussions then you have to be prepared to take flak. That said, if I had my way I'd ban everyone who disrespected another user's opinions - I detest rudeness - but I'm not sure my Zero Tolerance approach would be very well received

PS. Today, across the whole form, there have only been 2 reported posts. Yesterday there was one. None were on posts by Jod.

Well, I had to go back and read the whole thread after this thread was started.

To be honest, I've had worse said to me in a nicer way by some folks here.

If what someone posts here affects your sensibilities, report it and let the folks that run this forum handle it.

Sometimes it sounds like my kids here. 'Mom, you love him better than me. He nevers gets in trouble and you always get onto me.' Might we all need to grow up just a little?

That said, we also need to make sure that what we say to someone else would be something that we would like said to us.

I didn't bother reading that thread at first because I don't play there. I only started reading it last night, and I DID try to report the post, but I was not able to?? Maybe after a certain amount of time elapses you are not able to do so.

At any rate, I think its an issue that should be addressed. That sort of behavior does nothing to help this forum whatsoever. I stopped reading that thread after her post so cannot comment on what was said later.

I also think that Max does get quite defensive at times, and maybe that is what triggered orens comments.

I agree with the privately part, but some members have chosen to call people idiots, ....and take trips to uranus, etc etc.....all in public. And their buddies jump in, and so we have the unfortunate rudeness of some rub off on their friends, and we get this negative childish vibe that seems to dominate otherwise intelligent conversations/debates.

As far as me being a troll and "constantly" going after folks, that is totally not true. I only get upset when posters act shitty to other members, or post wrongly about an issue. Max deserves the utmost respect but look at how these mostly "new" members are treating him. And where are all you older members that know these posts are wrong. Hello? For all you righteous people, I did and often do get reprimands from the authorities here when I get carried away. However, I have never posted anything that required banning, other than a short vacation last year, I think it was. And, I deserved it. However, it seems the people that are "after me" are certainly not sticking up for Max, or Nifty either. Just flaming them. Maybe they should take a look at their own posts and attitudes?

It is wrong to insult people(although I don't see the supposed 'insult')... but it is perfectly acceptable to start a thread with sole intention of Publicly and Personally attacking a forum member...

I do see his point in some ways and I don't see a problem with him starting a thread about flaming, it's obviously a problem around here and other forums for that matter. If you don't agree with someone or their point of view, I find it unecessary to call them idiots or pissants; maybe it's the mother in me, but two wrongs don't make a right and I believe if someone is acting out of line there is no reason to fuel the fire by doing the same thing you are calling them out for. Nothing personal against Jod or anyone else, just the way I see it.

Have a look at the thread chronology: I had made exactly one post -- little more than a few facts about the case -- before oren1976 popped up with his "Max hates players" stuff.

If you read his posts you'll see that it's pretty clear he knows the OP personally. At the very least he was intimately familiar with the emails that the OP and I had exchanged regarding the OP's PAB. I suggest to you that that was what triggered his comments: solidarity with his friend.

The reason he was banned was as follows:

14 day suspension for being a troll. Come back with a better attitude.

I expect that anyone who behaved as he did would receive similar treatment. If you doubt this I suggest you discuss it with Bryan since it was Bryan who laid down the law.

I really have no problem with your neg repping, just the call to arms.
