Corona virus - Covid 19 discussion

I'll be courting the gym tomorrow as it happens, for my bi-weekly cameo. So needless to say, it'll be like stepping into the lion's den, as I feared

However, I'm always one step ahead

168 people died in Italy over the last 24 hours, the mortality rate is 6%,there are 877 in intensive care
I dont think the NHS could cope with that.Could well end up with only those who have some hope being treated
or am I being a tad pessimistic ?
Just read that Italy has twice the number of critical care beds compared to the UK and Germany has 5 times
as many.Nice one Boris, May, Cameron and all the rest of the wankers.

6% is high in anyone's books, though again, do we know the breakdown of ages? When I read that Holland had its first victim the other day it transpired he was 86 etc.

Or other cases where one reads of someone succumbing to it, but being 73 with pre-existing health conditions and so forth

I shan't imagine the NHS would exactly welcome or thrive off the back of an ICU-overload, though I'd imagine we have more facilities available at a guess?

It was only a matter of time before the poor Z list celebrities started to feel left out of the news thanks to Coronavirus so let battle commence for the Z list celebrity "look at me!!! I'm still here".

First candidate - Naomi Campbell who went to the airport in full Hazmat suit and goggles.

Whilst no doubt twatty, and many a celeb jumping on the 'Look at me!' bandwagon, I'd not really class her as a Z-lister. Love Island/ TOWIE/ Big Brother-esque 'celebrities' would fit that mould more. I'd imagine Naomi has somewhat earned her A-List status compared to today's loose interpretation of celebrity, which is anyone that breaks wind, or people sitting on a sofa pretending to watch telly :D

And from what I hear on various projects etc Naomi is a known germophobe, so while looking a bit reactionary and attention- seeking, she genuinely has always been like this. I'm surprised she hasn't gone further and gone full-bubble wrap if anything

I love the way some guys are treating this issue light-heartedly unlike most in the city I live in. Some are very cautious, some are panicky and from the 50-cent army from China blame other countries from planting the virus in China. Even a happy-go-lucky guy like me has taken extreme precautions to avoid infection. It is important to know this 'invisible' virus scars our lungs and there have been cases of people recovering only to have relapses. I know a lot of people are very affectionate and regularly kiss and hug their loved ones but until this pandemic is truly over I implore you guys to be patient and refrain from such for the forseeable future.

I really don't think that it's as mad a suggestion as it first seems. They would just be taking one for the team

And by someone called Harry KKB.

Least i now have a valid excuse not to shake folks' hands - the silent 'ughhh...human, get away', wasn't going down well.

I have enough toilet paper for the almost next three months. But that is pretty standard for me.
but having COPD, I am higher risk for this to be severe. I intend to buy some canned fruit, and my store of tinned tomatoes is low.
To try and picture this in terms of Italy currently, we have 1/2 their population. We had an average of.less than 10 deaths per day from flu for the last year I could find. They had 200 deaths yesterday. We have around 200 people a day die of.cancer, and most are not dead within days or.weeks.
I hope they find a vaccine for it soon.

I wasn't worried at first until i researched the virus more. It seems people are being told the elderly and chronically ill (disabled) are the ones who has the worst of it including death. It almost makes me fee like we (yes i have lupus/see a cancer specialist) are expendable . I have also seen some people brushing this illness off making jokes . I think this is going to get bad and has already proven that. My best advice for everyone, sick and healthy is to do their best to not be at risk of getting this illness. It is sad really that even with the information some governments (USA to my knowledge) has been slow to react to this even with the warnings. I do not know what can be said at this point. I ask all my family members to wash their hands when they are making my meals or just sitting and talking to me. I know they think i am being overly cautious. I have been researching also something related to a possible surgery i might have to have. At this point i am going to wait before i go in for a consult or plan anything. I also hope something is done soon.

One thing to realise is the UK may have 460 cases but some of them will have recovered and only a few people have this in each county or city look at the actual figures

How many cases are there in your local council area?*
Hertfordshire: 18
Kensington and Chelsea: 15
Devon: 13
Hampshire: 13
Surrey: 10
Southwark: 9
Oxfordshire: 9
Brighton and Hove: 8
Barnet: 8
Torbay: 7
Camden: 7
Cumbria: 7
Liverpool: 6
Newcastle upon Tyne: 6

So at the moment the chances of even knowing someone with it is low.
I have to be honest i do not like the way the figures are not either in counties or cities they should either issues the numbers in one or the other,

This was yesterday in uk before the 87 odd jump happened it should get updated soon.
The Brighton figure and the York figure are examples of where the public is not being properly informed those two cities now should be showing zero cases as all the people will have recovered but we are only being told the people who have had it NOT the people who currently have it.
