Best Christmas Promotion seen so far?

This could be an icon cache problem, when/if it happens again try this........

1. Close all folder windows that are currently open.

2. Launch Task Manager.

3. In the Process tab, right-click on the Explorer.exe process and select End Process.

4. Click the End process button when asked for confirmation.

5. From the File menu of Task Manager, select New Task (Run…)

6. Type CMD.EXE, and click OK

7. In the Command Prompt window, type the commands one by one and press ENTER after each command:

CD /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local

DEL IconCache.db /a

EXIT

8. In Task Manager, click File, select New Task (Run…)

9. Type EXPLORER.EXE, and click OK.

If the problem persists create a new user account and see if this cures it, if it does you have a corrupt user profile.

Hope this helps ;).

P.S.

Have you recently lost icons in your browser bookmarks also?.

Is this any different from the "TweakUI" powertoy? This has a "repair icon cache" tool, which I think does the same thing.

I have noticed that when I launch the software, the desktop seems to refresh all it's icons in some kind of "flicker", and it is at the end of this that sometimes they don't come back. It seems to be somthing in the MGS software that does something to the desktop as a whole, even though it should only be operating in it's own window. I have noticed this before, but this is the first time it has wrecked my desktop. I notice that the new "pitboss" slider for "Immortal Romance - coming soon" also causes the desktop as a whole to flicker.

It looks like the client is messing with global OS settings during the launch process, rather than just those for it's own window.

I do not believe the software should even touch such settings, as this can lead to it crashing other open applications through the creation of conflicts.

It seems to happen often enough that I should be able to verify whether any particular fix has made a difference.

I checked and repaired the icon cache a short while ago, and the check came back "no issues", but I repaired it anyway.

I will look into this being an icon cache problem, and maybe try the repair steps next time it happens.

Sometimes when you launch a programme the desktop refreshes itself, however, if your desktop icon cache is not set high enough this can cause problems, the remedy I gave is a basic windows repair method and not a powertoy remedy, I sometimes use the fix-its from here though.

Try 121 and 157 i`m pretty confident one or both of these will help you ;).

I do not think this is a direct problem caused by MGS but one that exposes a problem you have, and believe me there is nothing better than software updates/patches for exposing such problems......

I`m pretty confident also that you have the latest GFX-card drivers so I will not insult your intelligence by suggesting this lol ;).

Once again hope this helps.

Complete derail, Tom Hanks should not have played the lead role in The Da Vinci Code, 1st time i`ve seen the film, not a patch on the book.

Casino Euro (netent) have an advent calendar with different prizes each day.

Todays offering is wager 20 euros on any of their live casino games to be entered into a prize draw for an iPad2.

Only valid till 23:59 CET
The daily winner will be selected at random within 24 hours after todays calendar draw

You can check their homepage for the calendar I think.

I have a new card, earmarked for install once the remaining new component turns up for the refurb. There is a later set of drivers for the current card, but Windows rejects them as "unsigned", which deterred me from proceeding, as I would have expected an official set of AMD drivers to be properly signed.

I have used the Kelly's Corner tweaks before on my Windows 98 machine, but couldn't find a direct match to the icon cache size increase for XP. The windows 98 powertoy has it, but the XP version only has the repair.

I am sure I already maxed out the cache size by finding a site showing the relevant direct registry edits, but it doesn't seem to have made a difference, the desktop is still refreshing.

After the refurb, it will be a complete OS reinstall on a new, faster, boot drive. I will not use the Dell partition due to it being stuffed with out of date crapware such as AOL internet wizard and free McAfee from 2006!

Ths makes it a little harder, as the install disks supplied do not have even the USEFUL bundled software, so I will have to select the ones I use, and install them separately. I have done this before on my 98 machine, more than once, and also on another XP machine with mixed results (I found crapware somehow snuck back in, and old files from the previous install were left behind). I expect to have to do it again:mad:

Back to the promos.

Jackpot Factory is sorted, you only get the free spins once per WEEK!!!!! So only 3 lots, not a daily promo like the rest. Boy that is TIGHT!

Casino UK failed again, couldn't load today's advent calendar offer, even using the trick of launch, connect, disconnect, reconnect that worked to present the opt-in scheme. Red Flush is also still broken, no way to opt in.

32Red, stellar performance. Today was lucky draw for a telly, and in a way I won it;)
I had been depositing in lots of £200 trying to annoy the fruit machines into paying out something decent. After a series of prods, and keeping them up til 2am, they finally gave in and popped. Both Cops & Robbers and the Hippo had a total of 4K wrestled from then over a series of bonus rounds (well, one top feature on Cops, and half a dozen lower winspins on the Hippo, the first of which tried to trick me by giving me loads of cherries and bars off 15 spins for an insulting £500 or so).

Withdrew the 4K in the small hours, and got paid two hours ago into my Neteller:thumbsup: That's a blistering 8 hours turnaround at the weekend, which is indeed "second to none";) 4K is a better prize than the telly, so in a way I have won the draw before it has even taken place:D

PS - that link for Kelly's corner doesn't work. 503 DNS error, server not found.

try disconnect/reconnecting and saying no to buying chips more than once on casino uk vinyl, sometimes takes a couple of goes but it will pop up eventually...

Today/tomorrow they are doing 5% back on losses

In other news I STILL cant opt into red flush lol

Is that really worth the effort, given that Royal Vegas are offering a 10% bonus on all deposits, and Jackpot Factory give 10% up to a monthly limit even when NO other promos are running.

Damn VWM sounds like you have a whole heap of crap going on there, I think a fresh windows install is the best way, no matter what always partition your hard drive you can do this via instalment anyway`s, I always split mine into at least 3, keep C for your OS and programmes, E for casinos and F for your goat porn :p, that way if you get problems you don`t lose all your personal stuff just re-format C and re-install windows etc.

Another tip which you probably know anyway is when installing make sure the recovery console is a boot option, by far the best windows repair tool, system restore is okay but if it`s a virus problem you are pretty much fubared anyway.

On a sidenote do you use hijackthis?, as it looks like you have a malware problem or two there also, appears your hosts file is affected.

One more tip, after your instalment, increase your page file and allot your page file to one of your partitions (a lot quicker if you use a drive with hardly any data in it I use my F drive)........

Also, gratz on the fruities clean up, and sorry for the derail :).

P.S.

If you wanted to try those fix it`s for the link you cannot use PM me your email and I will d/l them for you and mail them, in the mean time see if you can access this site and d/l the error 503 fix-it....

I'd love to, but Microgaming doesn't give you any choice. It's C:\microgaming\casinos\ possibly the WORST place to install programs, and guaranteed to wear out any SSD being used as an OS boot drive. It USED to be possible to put all Microgaming casinos wherever you wanted by selecting "custom install", and specifying a location. (I have been wondering whether there might be a "hack" to circumvent this restriction, and allow MGS casinos to be installed in a directory chosen by the user, as used to be the case).

The problems all started when the D: drive died (I can hear it clicking, and it can't be accessed via Windows). This is why I am having to wait for the new hard drive to arrive before I can do the reinstall, with the current C: drive then becoming the D: drive.

The flooding in the far east has generated a world shortage of hard drives, and it has been on order for a month already. I had also ordered a new D: drive, but Amazon cancelled the order after a month "unable to source". I can buy a "piece of crap" from Currys, but it has had poor reviews, yet is only £10 cheaper. Everything else is here already, even the basic tool kit and air duster.

I even got a new PSU for good meaasure, to replace the 305w unit currently installed. The graphics card recommends "400w minimum", so I thought "might as well". I have also read that an under rated PSU can be the root cause of many odd looking problems in using a PC, and that their output efficiency falls over time, so mine may not even be delivering it's rated 305w any longer.

I also suspect the current graphics card struggles with HD, which is what MGS casinos are now using for the lobby and many games. The only thing that should still be managing OK is the processor, as I went for the top option supported by the motherboard when I bought the PC.

After this, the next step WILL have to be a brand new PC.

I hope to test the MPV tournaments again after all this to see if I can get back the kind of performance I once had before the lobby upgrades slowed everything right down.

Doh forgot about MGS and their obsession with being installed directly into C drive (blame the J.D. I bought for xmas but drank it last night, just knew that would happen).

As far as PSU`s units go, they can do some weird conflict stuff especially with CD/DVD drives, I find that having these on their own power lead with nothing else on the chain cures this problem.

Anyway`s gl with this ;).

I may need it. I have only changed RAM and cards before, and a hard drive upgrade on my old Win 98 machine. A PSU is a new step, although hopefully not a drastic one. I went for 600w, to give some leeway above the 400w minimum recommended for the new graphics card.

I didn't want to pay for over specified upgrades that wouldn't really work to their full potential on this motherboard, so did some looking around the internet first. I changed my mind quite a few times as new information came to light, or what looked good seemed to have many "geeks" complaining it turned out to be a disappointment when they tried it.

I also found that there is a simple tool available for overclocking an AMD card from within the Windows environment without any need to start fiddling around with BIOS. Sadly, the easy option for the processor is NOT supported on my board's NVIDIA chipset, so no need to buy a fan kit (yet).

If I am going to fiddle around at this level, it will have to be on a PC that I can afford to screw up, so will probably wait till I get a new one, and then I can more freely experiment on this one to see how far it can be stretched, but without a four figure sum going up in smoke if something ends up getting fried during the learning experience, not to mention a total loss of access to my favourite casinos for an unspecified period.

32 Red

WISH US PLAYERS COULD PLAY THERE. CAN NOT FIND A GOOD US SITE YET

Whats the best Christmas promotion anyone has seen so far? I logged into 32Red this morning and saw their new Christmas wheel and man there are a lot of goodies on it, not just deposit matches either but real goodies like tv`s laptops and camcorders :D I have my heart set on winning the tv but something tells me its going to be one of those whoever wagers the most and takes top slot prizes somehow :( Still, having had a look at all the goodies their currently offering this month, i have to say its unusual and impressive

Here is hoping they treat me good this year. My play has been strong at:

Bodog
Slotastic
Club World
InetBet
Sloto

If most follow the same MO as with Birthday bonuses, I doubt I'll see much.

Nice work there on the fruities....what was your net profit?

I just upgraded my pc with a 600w PSU, a new MB with Intel quadcore, 500GB HD, NVIDIA 2GB GPU and 4 GB RAM. Best thing I ever did and it only cost me $500.

You will notice the difference even with just a decent GPU.

32 Red's 'wheel spin' today gives 50 free spins on Santas Wild Ride (on a deposit of 32 credits or more).

Well, I had put around 2K in 32Red recently before this hit, so estimate net profit to be between 1K and 2K. I about 1K further ahead than my previous personal best at 32Red. My lifetime profit at 32Red is a different matter altogether, almost 40K ahead:D

I was almost 10K ahead some years ago, but a series of unlucky sessions with few withdrawals ended with me being some 17K down - and then the Pirate Ship found the mother lode, and I shot way ahead:D

Ladbrokes are offering me my usual weekly bonus of £15 and 20 free 0.30 spins on SWR this month(min 20 deposit 80 turnover to qualify)

Also they are offering 35 free spins on TS2 at 1.50 a spin when I deposit and turnover £50 on any of there top 10 of the year slots, this is weekly also . So easily qualifying for both at the same time with a 50 deposit and playing TS2 or LOTR for a few hundred spins.

£15 paid to cash account, winnings from free spins on SWR 10XWR and winnings from TS2 free spins 4XWR which is excellent!

I try the santa promotion to day at 32red! nothing special ... 50 spins .... 14.59 win!

I did pretty well with SWR. Managed to hit free spins, and ended my spins with a little over $90. As Club Rouge, spins were at 3 coins.

Although I did clear the WR, I probably should have played them after my own funds, so as to not tie up my deposit with a WR.

Can ANYONE opt into red flushes seasons winnings yet? Total joke imo I still cant opt in and live support are useless.

Nope,

As promised, I uninstalled them on Sunday ahead of the Immortal Romance release. It is a chunky update, and it seems casinos are updating TWICE OVER, and thus it is taking even longer to get the update into the casinos currently installed.

The ones I did yesterday are starting over today when launched, so I am back to square 1, despite having spent some 6 hours solid yesterday running updates.

Seasons winnings

Hi Guys,

I have to jump in here as I am not aware of any technical difficulties with the promotions. Please send me your details in a PM and I will sort it out right away.

Best regards,
Wayne
