noticed I posted my problem about this in the reps intro post. I thought they posted it in general casino chat and not intros. Im hoping the mod can remove my post from there about this issue. This was it though:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have contacted the rep before asking about something. Although I 1stly got a reply I pm'd them again and havent had a reply. This was going back to March 27th.

Im all for giving people/casinos or anyone the benefit of the doubt but in this instance iv been wrong done by. Fancy being told by a support staff member its ok to use my birth certificate as id (since no goverment id, passport or driving licence) and "we will request it if we need it". Then I deposit and play, lose a bit, then win a tiny bit and cashout (overall at a loss though) and after sending my birth certificate was told I need to send photo ID. If thats the case then iv been tricked into depositing and should rightfully be entitled to all my deposits back.

Its funny how the same day I requested a payout from 21G I also requested a payout at another Rival casino... I saw the money from the other casino 3 days after requesting without the rudeness from support staff (bar 1, namely Anna, who is a polite and helpful asset)

I work in a retail environment where the key element is to make the customer feel treated right. Certainly no retail stores sell stuff to customers who use their card, but then if they come back for a refund say "You got any photo identification on you?.... The name on the card says MR ******, but that could be anyone"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just to add to that I checked the second email requesting "identification" which specifically now says:

"* A scan of the front and back of a government issued ID that confirms your registered account information, including your age and address."

Thats an exact quote from it. Now from that it is discriminating against anyone who lives in the UK and countries that do not have "government issued ID".

I have ranted enough about ID at casinos previously but that is just a total ripoff.

theres a rep who didnt reply to my last question so doubtfully the recent message I sent them will be answered. A support guy called "Julien" who is probably the rudest guy to speak to and the uncertainty weather I will be asked for identification or not.

Im still suprised they say my birth certificate was fine to send in as ID. Then after depositing/playing and sending it in they refuse to accept it aka ROGUE.

I just want my money and then uninstall them and delete my account for good.

The clock ticks and so far its been 9 days my withdraw has been "pending"

I am finding it very hard to believe that you can not get issued a drivers license or passport where you live. Just get some ID. I can't think of a reason not to have ID of some sort??? Not to mention that if you continue to play online casino's this is not the first time you will have it requested.

"* A scan of the front and back of a government issued ID that confirms your registered account information, including your age and address."

A birth certificate obviously wouldn't show your current address so how could you use that for a valid form of ID?

How have you dealt with this situation in the past?

Hi sparkz,

Considering your well aware of the issues your having with casinos and providing suitable ID, I'm surprised that you'd deposit at any casino until such time as you've established ID clearance.

It's a moot point whether you believe casinos asking for ID is BS or not. The fact casinos may or may not ask for it is a reality your well aware of.

And it's such an event that will affect your withdrawal times if you can not prove your identity if requested to do so.

Continuing to deposit at new casinos and hitting the same brick wall when withdrawing, then coming here and posting about it makes no sense at all.

Reiterating your well aware of your situation and the problems your faced with providing suitable ID.

Granted the following solution does not address a need to play immediately but it does provide a realistic avenue for you to remedy the problem of withdrawing when asked for ID.

Contact the casino and explain your situation before depositing. Discuss a suitable means of providing proof of ID with the docs you have. Maybe they would accepted an affidavit signed in the presence of a Justice of the Peace on this person sighting you Birth Certificate & proof of address Doc/s.

However doing what your doing now your shooting yourself in the foot but blaming the casinos for your own mistakes.

In my book that's not cool or fair.

Cheers

:)

Dave

I did contact them before depositing.

AussieDave- I played the free chip and thats where I then contacted support before depositing and asked about birth certificate. Thats when they said it was fine. Why would I go depositing $100's of my own cash into a casino that I know I wont get paid because of ID issues? Give me some credit. I have been gambling for many many years afterall.

My birth certificate shows everything. My full name, date of birth, place of birth and has exactly the same address on it as the address i live at now (I have never moved house, so of course it matches the same address thats in my casino account).

When I have been asked for ID at other casinos (not that often) they have either accepted my birth certificate no problems (william hill, mansion casino, 1 or 2 rivals) or they havent been able to pay me but have later become announced as rogue casinos (which means it was just a tactic not to pay me)

College kids and school kids get ID cards but they arent goverment issued. If someone is stopped by the police they try to find anything with their name on in their possesion (bank card, statment) and search it on a big database to make sure they are telling the truth. Theres no point me paying over £100 for a passport, travelling over 100 miles for the interview and then waiting 4 weeks for the passport to come through when I know full well im never going to go overseas in my life.

Support is no good. I have tried many times. More often than not "Julien" replys to my emails, speaks in live support or worse still phones me on such a terrible crackly phone line that I cant hear a thing and hes like a broken record repeating the same thing over n over again.

All I would like is my cash. Simple. As far as im concerned I have done everything they had or thought they would of asked for at the time of my depositing.

The rep here wasnt any help. They didnt answer my previous question and havent replied to my recent message.

Its gone from saying my birth certificate is fine, to saying i must send them passport, driving licence or goverment id, to "A scan of the front and back of a government issued ID "

hi sparkz:
no offense, but i must say i have seen more then one thread of you on this issue, and not only on this forum :)
not that i mind, i would only want to ask you: why is it that you wont consider taking a passport, even if you never go overseas?
it will cost you nothing compared to the deposits you have made over the past months, as i can count from various posts ^^
so, then you can play everywhere, and cash out everywhere.
i think had you gotten it, it would have paid itself off already.
imagine you win the random jackpot on a deposit for once?
maybe suddenly youll want to go overseas :p
i hope you get paid anyway: there must be ways...
and i am not saying i find this birth certificate not enough at all, its just that youve experienced issues with it before, and why not solve it as said?
cheers

every state issues a form of a picture ID
I have a state of Florida picture ID as i do not drive an it is accepted by all casino's
you are just being bull headed

WTF?
Come on - that comment was totally uncalled for - the OP and I live in the UK - not the USA.
We don't have to have Government ID; My driving license doesn't have my photo on it.
Why should he have to pay £100 ($155) for a passport he doesn't want when the casino already told him his Birth Certificate would be acceptable?

I think most people are being pretty unfair to sparkz in this thread - it looks like he did everything right to me.

I think what is amazing is that this hasn't been a major issue for this person if they are playing at any RTG/Rival casino AND have been playing for years.

I don't know anything about ID requirements in the UK, but here in the States you need 2 pieces of ID just to get a job. Usually it's a drivers license and a social security card.

Can't imagine not needing ID. Very "foreign" concept to me...:D

I have to agree with all4greed it's a very foreign concept not to have some from of ID which includes Government issued photo ID.

I think your missing the point KK...The casino has to ensure that sparkz is who he claims to be. Even if it's unjustified, I could see why a matter such as this would raise a red flag with an online casino. They like most of the posters here are having a hard time understanding why someone does not have photo ID.

Cheers

1stly I dont play RTG. I play the RTG free chips for fun. Never have deposited and never have cashed out from it. The casino I played at before this was tropica. I won with a free chip. Deposited $25 and withdrew the lot to moneybookers... it was paid in a few days with no problems.

For work here you need barely anything. I started my job 5 years ago, they didnt even get me to fill the application for in. It was only 2 years after I had been there that they asked for National insurance card and a copy of an annual tax code form.

incrediblestuff -

firstly yes I have posted issues like this before.... Its not the concept of being asked for ID... its the concept that theres many casinos who will take your money regardlessly and ask for things that are not possible to give.

This casino is now specifically saying in their email:

" * A scan of the front and back of a government issued ID that confirms your registered account information, including your age and address.

* A scan of one of utility bill, credit card bill, or bank statement no more than 2 months old that confirms your name and address."

They arent even asking for passport or anything else anymore. They are asking for "government issued ID". As mentioned in the UK there isnt 1 so under no circumstance can I supply it even if I did have Passport and driving licence.

Yea I have deposited a lot previously at casinos but now thats cut right down. My gambling budget now is at tops $30 a month. I would never win a RJ because I dont play at RTG casinos for real. A passport wouldnt of paid for itself already because in the last few months especially I have deposited and lost pretty much more than $1000, and only cashed out $60 from a free chip. I was actually working out that a passport would cost more than £100 in total once I take into consideration the passport photos, train fayre to have an interview in newport and food for the day and whatsmore I believe the Passport offices would not be happy with me having a passport for these situations. Afterall I would be misusing it by sending copys of the information out to "companys" and not using it for its desired use in proving who I am to customs when travelling overseas.

The last incident when something like this happened was at mansion casino. I spoke to support before depositing. Asked them if my birth certificate was ok to send them..... they said yes. I played, won, sent em birth certificate copy. They were slow at processing the withdrawl request however they honoured what they had said and approved my birth certificate.

On this occasion iv honoured my part of itI have followed every single thing they needed and I was made to believe was needed when I deposited. Now its time they honour their part of it and rightfully pay me what im owed

jas - no worries :D

And I think you're missing the point!
Sparkz contacted the casino before depositing, told them he doesn't have a photo ID and asked would a Birth Certificate do? And was told YES, thats OK.
That is the key point here - not whether anyone thinks everyone should have a photo ID.
The only one I have is my passport - and that's by choice, not compulsion.

As mentioned - we live in a FREE country, and I'm genuinely sorry for everyone else who has to put up with the bull of your government telling you what you must carry around with you and where you can't deposit your OWN money... :(

Sorry matey, you're wrong there; Passports and Driving Licenses ARE government issued ID.

d'oh, I was just used to the "please send in, passport, driving licence or goverment id" style of speaking.

It would be also good to hear if anyone else has had dealings with that shady julien character. I bet my bottom dollar on it that it was more than likely him in live support who told me my birth certificate would be fine

I have to agree with the points that KK made re: ID. Like Sparkz, I also do not have a photo ID, and never have. Never travelled abroad, and probably never will...so why should I pay $150 or more (plus pay my doc or lawyer to sign the application), when I don't need it? I'll be 47 next month, and have never driven. Should I learn how to drive just so I can satisfy an online casino who has absolutely no problems TAKING my money no questions asked?

The only places I have had to provide ID were Inetbet and ClubWorld. I sent them (I think) birth certificate, SIN (Social Insurance Number/card), Health Card, recent utility bill and front and back of my CC with a faxback form. And I did this BEFORE I ever deposited a cent, and made sure I had it in writing that it was approved. So that would be my only suggestion to Sparkz...rather than just saying "hey, I only have a birth certificate, is that acceptable"? Send in what you do have, and get it actually approved, by management or by finance.

32Red and 3Dice...have never sent so much as one scrap of anything to either....and neither one makes me jump through any hoops, provide any DNA samples, firstborn...whatever. Some of these online casinos could be more accomodating if they so desire...they don't.

Not everyone has a driver's licence, or a passport...I don't know why people have such a hard time believing that. What would be great is if all credit cards required a photo on them...problem solved. Of course, then they would have some other insane requirement you would need to fulfill.

I will NEVER understand why they are only concerned about fraud/identity theft, when you want to withdraw your money. You could deposit thousands, and as long as you don't cashout, you will never be asked for one shred of proof that you are who you say you are. It's bullshit.

In some States
Like here in CT

Non-Driver Photo Identification Cards

The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) issues a Non-Driver Photo Identification Cards (ID) to any applicant who does not possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license or whose license is presently under suspension. The applicant must be a Connecticut resident. Effective January 1, 2009, the ID card is issued from five to seven years and cost $22.50. The fee is waived for applicants of a homeless shelter who provide proof of residency from an authorized shelter in Connecticut. The Connecticut Identification Card Requirements and Application (form B-230) must be signed by an official from the shelter.

Note: If an applicant obtains a Connecticut Driver's License, the identification card must be surrendered when a driver's license is issued.

Don't we go through this same subject every couple of months? I'm from USA and we do need one, but I also understand other places have different laws.

Sparkz...you wouldn't have happened to save that chat/email where they told you that your birth certificate was ok to use? COPY everything when dealing with online casinos.

I'm hoping Max or CM can help you out.

Get their agreement to your current identification in some written form prior to playing, if you prefer not to go through the trouble of acquiring what they require. Right or wrong, requiring photo ID is the standard procedure, so it will be a repeated problem in the future.

.....

This casino is giving him the runaround. Plain and simple. The same thing happened to me except I did have photo id and sent it immediately. If I remember right, it took two months to get paid a lousy couple hundred $$$. The usual excuses about, scans not clear, finance dept. not in today, etc.
Also that Julien guy was a major league douchebag. I talked to him over ten times on the phone and numerous times on the live chat and he was very rude each time.
All I can say is stay after them. They will pay you eventually. Good luck !

ok i see your point, although even with 30 a month you could get lucky, but that would mean you'ld have to stop gambling for five months, if you have only 30 a month to spare, and the pass would cost 150..
i did mention that i found the birth certificate more then enough.
but these casinos do like to either give you the runaround, or require something with a photo id, and i feel its sad that they played you like this:
what just play said is a very good point though, even if you felt assured after checking it, it would have been best to copy that chat.
also pinababy's point is very interesting, this would be a safer way to try out new casinos for you.
maybe something for the future, and you could maybe arrange the sme documents shes mentioned?
and suggest that to this casino?
cheers and good luck

Not everyone has a driver's licence, or a passport...I don't know why people have such a hard time believing that.

FWIW Pina in Europe people are issued photo ID/national identity cards pretty early in life. I'm not sure when they start carrying them but I know school kids in their teens already have them.

People here are supposed to carry these papers with them at all times, it's not optional. If the cops stop you and you don't have them they can haul you in then and there. Usually though they let you off but you have to report in at your local cop shop with your papers within 24 or 48 hours.

When I arrived here getting those papers was a _very_ big deal because without them you're walking on pretty thin ice, regardless of what you may be carrying from your country of origin. To officials here Canadian or American or whatever papers mean virtually nothing, it's passport or nothing as far as they're concerned and even that won't get you very far.

So the idea of not even having such papers is probably pretty unheard for many people. Having seen things on both sides of the water I can tell you that North Americans have it pretty easy when it comes to this sort of thing.

I don't have a driver's licence or passport. I do have gov't issued photo ID. It does not have my address. Thanks to posts here at CM, I've now made sure what I do have is acceptable and approved before depositing anywhere.

I've also had withdrawals from quite a number of places that did not ask me for any identification. Anywhere has terms and conditions that indicate only a driver's licence or passport is acceptable, I don't play. Most just say "government issued photo ID".

Since the OP asked before depositing, I think the casino should be held to their promise that the birth certificate would be sufficient. Sure hope you saved that chat.

I like Bet365's process of sending you a snail mail and requiring you to enter a validation code. They have also (after first asking) telephoned me to verify further. So far that's all I've needed for any of my cashouts with them.

Casino Rewards has managed to send me every cashout I've ever requested without ID, including a couple over 1K.

3Dice has also never requested anything from me, and I think that is true for most players there.

I do feel that casinos are more willing to authorize your ID when you indicate that without them pre-authorizing you that you will not be depositing.

And as another poster said, save EVERYTHING when dealing with online casinos...I don't use telephone for that very reason.

As for saving the chat sadly I didnt, But im sure their is a law in place that even casinos must follow that means they have to keep record of any chat session for a certain amount of time at least.

As for health cards and all that....theres nothing. If I want a drs appointment all I do is phone them. Tell them my dob, name, address and they check their records based on that,

Thats the way the UK is. Often with banks and things like that they give you a password. You have to name certain digits of your passport on the phone to prove yourself.

As for the suggestion of college/student cards. i was actually given an ID card when I was at school. This was going back nearly 10 years ago (and I have lost mine now, they dont make them anymore either). The reason it was issued was due to people being legally allowed to smoke at 16 (the age has changed to 18 now thought). However thoese cards are not accepted anywhere at all now and are not classed as legal ID. i went to tescos when I was 18 and they wouldnt acccept it as that scheme was scrapped. The main reason for "student ID cards" now is so that students can prove they are a student at a shop and get student discount.

People here are not meant to carry them with them at all times. Trust me. I have been stopped by police on routine searches many a time. What they do is ask for anything with your name on. On thoese occasions I have had my bank card on me. They checked the bank card and asked for my dob and addy. After seeing it matched the data on their systems they said it was all fine as I was let on my way.

I didnt save the chat where I was told it was fine to use birth certificate because its something standard. i asked... was told yes. As far as I was aware it was part of their policy and fine to send it in. I dont expect to play at a casino and have to copy every single transaction/chat and keep it saved 9whats more even if I did save it my hard disk died about 3 weeks ago and since then I have upgraded to a brand new quad core pc)

couldnt agree more Spike.... Glad you agree that guy is lame.

The sad thing is I would of probably put my winning back into 21grand had all the hassle not turned up. But as it stands I'll be taking the money and wont put a cent back in
