Hi Guys, I am new here and have been rather a silly boy and opened an account with what I believe to be a scam casino called 'the red lion casino' which claim to be licenced in Curacao but when I email the e-gambing commision in Curacao they have never heard of this casino. They seem to offer all the games and services (netbet) that are not to be offered in the UK. they dont seem to show their licence number presumably because they don't have one.

I opened it because I am on gamblock and I am self excluded myself from UK bookmakers as I am a problem gambler but that is a different story. I deposited many times to the tune of 2000 over 2 credit cards and they show as a dodgy transaction company in Moscow on my statement. I played and won some money which I wanted to withdraw (1500) and I went to make a withdrawal and I was told by their customer services £500 was the maximum and only withdrawal at a time dispite their own 'terms and conditions' saying that 10k was the maximum monthly withdawal limit. they just see to make up the rules to suit them. this took days and days of emailing them to withdraw it so I could get my money back and I kept getting told it will be done ASAP. and being the problem gambler I am kept playing heavily and lost it all. One of the deposits I made was for £300 and I when I logged onto my online banking they took another £300 without adding it to the bettings account, I asked them to cancel it and put it back into my credit card account they said they couldnt and that they have credited my bettings account and I have to wager it atleast once to then withdraw it and of course I lost that too.

I am fully aware how stupid this all is but having read some things on here I may be eligle to chargeback those transactions on the grounds that they don't have a uk licence and they offer all the rigged netbet games they shouldn't in the UK.

I have raised a chargeback on all these transactions and received them back into my 2 credit card accounts and raised the dispute with all the information and emails from the curacao commission etc, my question is what are the chances of a successful chargeback on these grounds? they have reversed the transactions but what are the chances of them just readding them once theyve spoken to the merchant and they say i'm bang to rights. Like I say I am very aware I have been stupid and I should write the money off to experience but if I can get the money back and the games I was playing were rigged then it is unfair.

Please be kind :)

Easiest way to dispute the transactions if Credit Card company gets funny is to point out we are not allowed to use Credit Cards for gambling in UK so transactions should not be allowed.

Anyway since noone else has mentioned it do you really think it is a good idea to have Credit Cards with that sort of limit if you cannot control your spending. You did the correct thing by registering for Gamblock. But then went looking for dodgy casinos to play at using your Credit cards.

So what would you have done if the Casino had paid the winnings no Problem. Kept going back till you had maxed out all Credit Cards got yourself deeper in debt and then tried to charge back anyway.

Think now you have managed the Chargeback you should be thinking...
Hi Guys

I am the OP and had lost track on the post, clearly more and more people are getting sucked into these sites and its ending the same way.

I got all my money back from a 'newday' credit card within a few days with transactions totalling £960 which I wasn't expecting as when I called them they said gambling transactions were not covered. they said log it online and I had the money back within days. I expected them to reverse this but when I spoke to them a few days ago (after 2 months) they says the merchant did not rebuff the claims and that the 45 days to do so had been reached and the money is definitely refunded after the investigation so I am glad I pushed them for it and logged it online.

The other card I used to make £1200 in deposits was Barclaycard, out of both credit card companies I was expecting Barclaycard to be the most efficient and give it back straight away only to have them come back to me 3 months later with a 'gambling transactions aren't covered' they didn't seem to take any of my 'evidence' into consideration or even ask for the correspondence with the casino. I have called them and asked them to request it from me and go to the merchant with it and fight it this way. It is annoying they can just internally investigate it without and proof from me or go to the merchant with the case. they are going back to the appropriate team with it now but anyone got any advise on where to go next?

Should I take it to the financial ombudsmen and suggest Barclaycard didn't ask me for proof or take it to merchant and fobb me off with a blanket excuse that gambling is not covered? I would really like me £1200 back :)

I appreciate the feedback. Initially they didn't want to know and 'don't get involved with gaming site disputes'. They only listened when I said I didn't believe the games were legit and that they were fake. I wondered if you have any way of proving they are a scam other than copy and paste the review site and the email from the gaming commission. I hoping they see the transaction company and close the case there and then. I didnt know the ins and out of the merchant challenging my dispute etc. I really just want to put it to be and know that i'm keeping my money but it could take a few months for them to process everything.
Hi I have this weekend deposited a lot of money to red lion casino to find out there a scam my bank has asked for proof to put a dispute in can any one help please Kenny

It is hard to gather real hard proof, we obviously all know they are a scam and all the casinos on Casinomir.com are. I am struggling trying to give Barclaycard hard proof too but I have sent them screenshots from our emails and screenshots from this website and 'theredlioncasino' on trust pilot I am hoping should be enough.

For me I deposited 300 from barclays, all 4 deposits different names. I phoned them up to charge back and spoke in detail they don't charge back gambling even if it is fraud. I was lucky as I did get a cash out for 500 from them. After jumping through 100 rings. I just emailed constantly including emails like I need that to deposit again for big sports bets this weekend and they finally put it into my account. Definetlt a dodgy site by every means possible

From red lion, nothing from barclays they said they provided the service too be able to bet. Was ridiculous in my opinion. My last option was to phone after 21 days to try with visa. Was glad to get the payout 10 days after requesting it

Kenny, they aren't licenced anywhere, if you look at the T&C's curacao is mention a few times but an online casino should state their licence at the bottom of their page. They don't even try and claim they are licenced so IBAS cant help. I emailed Curacao E-Gaming and they said they are not licenced and any use of their name is illegal.

Unfortunately we have all made the mistake of betting with these people, they're scammers and nobody can help us. Your only hope is to chargeback with your bank because there is no chance you will see your cash from the red lion or any casinomir site. Those Russian scumbags have us strung up by the balls...

I dont get your point calling them Russian scumbags? at the end of the day the only people with responsibility here are those who decide to exclude in the U. K.
Then think its a good idea sign up to these clips joints without doing their home work.

I am looking for positive feedback, they are russian scum bags because they are running a scam, it is an opinion and not one that I thought would be challenged on here. Some of us are battling addictions so weak moments mean we look to fulfil urges no matter how silly that seems to some.

Any more wisdom for us?

New trend in 2021: as a problem gambler seeking illegal or rogue casino's, playing, and when there's no payout possible hit chargebacks.

Guys seriously if you encounter problem gambling the best advice is to stay out of gambling in any form in the first place. This means no streaming, no forums, no screenshots, nothing. Take a frigging break.

I have told my bank about these transactions and I have sent them proof there are not licensed in uk will I get my money back

Hi all I’m in the same position I stupidly signed up without thinking and deposited money to this casino, something didn’t seem right and I did my research and felt sick when I saw these posts.
I have contacted my bank and spoke with someone from the fraud team today they made me feel like I was the one in the wrong I tried explaining that the casino isn’t licensed but she said well I’ve googled it and I can see it’s real! I don’t know how to explain this better for them to understand I very much doubt I’ll get my money back, may have to put it down to experience, and help would be appreciated.

Yes u tell them there are not Licensced and should not be trading loook on my threads I have proof will reattache proof send to ure bank this site is unknown in uk

Thank you that is very helpful, I did explain all this but she really wasn’t very nice and said that I out the money in and I played etc she wasn’t really getting my point that they shouldn’t be trading, she said I have to wait a few days for the outcome while they investigate I don’t hold much hope.

Give it a few days and see what they come back with but I can copy and paste an email i got from the curacao gaming commission who they claim to be licenced by and they days they have never heard of them, the key to getting tour money back is that you didn't receive the 'service' you were supposed to get and that they have pirated games and they dont let you take your money out.

I would suggest emailing them and outlining that you know they are a scam outfit, and that you want to withdraw all your deposits because it is not a level playing field and that they're unlicensed etc. This show the bank that you've given the company a reasonable opportunity to resolve the dispute (because that's all the bank cares about) and then you can approach the bank with that email whether you get a reply or not with some proof of trying to resolve.
