Send documentation - for what?

I play slots. I take no bonuses.

Most casinos like this. I have never been asked for documentation before because of that.

There is no danger of fraud, multiple signups or whatever because I steadfastly refuse bonuses, and the casinos know it.

I recently signed up under Simmo for a casino to take part in the slots competition. I didn't score for the competition, but I ended up with a balance above my deposit and decided to cash out.

I was denied this unless I send documentation. :eek:

For what reason I ask? No other casino, ever, has asked me that, not because they know who I am (they don't) but because I use no bonuses and play slots.

Don't know what to tell ya Dom. I always get asked for ID when I do a cashout at a casino for the first time. Recently I had to provide ID again because I used a different form of dep. for the dep before the win. for example.... I used neteller---did cashout (didn't have to provide ID, had already provided it before) used Click2pay (didnt' cashout) used neteller wanted to do cashout...had to provide ID again. because I had used Click2pay....didn't make sense to me....but heck...I wanted my money...lol

I don't like them doing it all the time, I recently had a casino tell me they would have to ask for ID again.....told them they already had it...the CS said "we ask for ID on every cashout above $50." I asked why...he could only tell me it was casino rules.

Maybe some of the Casino Reps here can answer this for us???

you will probably only have to do this only once - then everything will be 'hunky dory'

if you went into a different branch of your bank other than the one you normally use, they would probably ask you for ID too?

at least they are doing their best to prevent fraud AND it looks like they will be paying you - so no worries!!!

was it a B I G win then?

Also i'd add that i get this at most non-UK casinos and like you i rarely take the bonuses. But i also think it's a fairly logical policy if they don't know you, though i did argue with one who i also affiliated with when they asked me. When they realised, they were fine tho :D
 
It's not that I am taking it personal - it's that I purposefully NEVER accept ANY money from a casino precisely to avoid this, as I will under no circumstances ever send my personal info to anyone whatsoever.

I have signed up and played at dozens of casinos without a hitch, as long as I do not accept bonuses.

I have told players who come to my site who were concerned about identity theft that they didn't have to worry about sending out personal info as long as they stayed clear of bonuses. It worked for them too.

I am afraid that this casino, an eCOGRA casino (yes I sent a letter to Andrew) is going to confiscate my deposit as well as winnings (most of the amount is my deposit).

There is no earthly reason for any casino, landbased or online, to ask for this unless one receives bonuses or borrows money.

There are reasons, and some of these reasons are out of the casinos hands. For instance Lasseters/Ausvegas are required by their licensing jurisdiction that all players must provide photo ID. As for many of the eCOGRA casinos, the same thing goes - their banking regulations require these casinos to have this information on file. Even I - the meister - had to provide Maple casino with my ID a few months ago for a big win and it had nothing to do with a bonus.

It's merely some of the red tape they have to deal with - and thus we have to deal with it too.
 
By the way, I'm pretty sure that all landbased casinos in the EU require photo ID upon entrance. And in the states, when one wins over $1000 photo ID is required and they fill out the tax forms for you. :D

So what's the big deal?
 
This is not a big win, its a small one and most of it is my deposit they are keeping.

And it is Maple.

And I have been through identity theft once and I will be darned if I ever expose any of my id to anyone again unless I am standing right there, let them look and then put it right back in my pocket where it belongs.

I guess they get to keep my deposit. I don't even care about my winnings.

Customers are required to supply proof of identity, ...... /or other appropriate documentation particularly when attempting to cash-in credits. This ensures that e-cash deposits and redemptions are not fraudulently transacted.

No big deal.

I sympathize with you Dominique. I absolutely hate sending out photocopies / scans of critical personal documents. I play mostly at 32Red, they've never asked for any of that, I make a withdrawal, they pay fast, simple as that. I did send Lasseters my documents, they explained clearly that the state requires them to do the age verification process. I do also understand the casinos' point of view as far as they are trying to prevent fraud, like CM said, and I understand that when credit cards are used as payment method, the document hassle may be necessary.

However, if I deposit and withdraw using Neteller only, I feel there should be absolutely no need for additional documents. Neteller requires ID, utility bill etc., and bank account certification, so that's done already, and the Casinos should have no need to do it all over again. Money just changes hands. Dominique deposited by Neteller, and should receive the winnings and at least the original deposit without having to send these documents.

There are many ways to prove your identity online without having to do the paperwork, which I might add is risky. I once sent a copy of my passport to the wrong e-mail address! sheeesh...:o

The fact that the casinos require the documents only upon withdrawal has always bugged me. Makes it look like just another way to stall payments and give the customer another chance to lose their money. Lasseters at least requires the paperwork regardless of whether you win or lose, which to me speaks for their integrity.

C'mon Maple, you should pay Dominique. She risked her money, tried out your casino, won some, and deserves a break from the bureaucracy.

If that doesn't happen, don't just leave the money in the Maple account, up your bets Dominique, play some more, and who knows maybe you'll win something big, and then you'll get the incentive to send out the documents:D

I too play without bonuses for the same reasons you give, dominique. I only had to provide ID to 2 casinos when I made a withdrawal to Neteller once and Firepay once.

The request came AFTER I was a player for 4 YEARS at one casino. Totally shocked when I was told I couldn't be paid after numerous payments already. They joined something like ecogra or some such similar place and they required ID to be on file is what they stated.

I was very surprised by the request since I played there for years..but I sent it since I learned from here about the ecogra thing and have had no other requests from any other casinos since.

To this day, I've yet to hear a logically construed argument, as to why you need to send your documents for verification, IF you're using NeTeller for your transactions. And this is especially, if you've made multiple transactions in the past (prior to having to send the necessary documentation). I'll send them, reluctantly, and it's not a major problem, but it just seems like unnessary drivel.

macgyver, i believe you are talking about the sci fi group ive won 2 times on a no deposit bonus at both casinos and they told me neteller confirmed my identity, made me happy got my withdrawl within 24 hours
 
It was actually one of the "iffy" or "shady" RTG's out there, not Sci-Fi.

The name of the particular casino that told me isn't really important, as it's now been shown that at least two different RTG casinos out there have the same rule.
 
In a perfect world, it would seem that if your Neteller, Firepay, or any other 3rd party banking outfit is good enough to deposit without any further documentation, then it should be good enough for withdrawling also. Why not break out the fine-toothed comb on depositing also if they're so concerned about fraud?

It's $1200 for ID and W2's here in the states. That's why you see jackpots for $1199. I hardly ever play anything that pays over $1200 for a jackpot because I just don't want to go there with the IRS in case I got lucky. Keeps me a low roller, but that ain't all bad.
 
This was just $500.

No bonus was claimed or taken.

No money launderer goes and plays slots for ages and then withdraws with a small win on top of the deposit to launder a few hundred dollars.

Chargeback isn't possible with Neteller.

Neteller is VERY careful with everything. They even contacted me once because I sent money to someone they had had a complaint about - just to make sure I wasn't being conned.

I don't see the fraud and money laundering danger here.

This isn't quite true. Chargebacks can be made with Neteller, I know at least one casino operator who has experienced this.
