Roulette

Roulette is a game for the person who has the guts to risk it all. But its only worthwhile if u have the guts to risk your whole bankroll. IMHO

Very well said, ksb11

Roulette is a game for anyone. The house edge is low (zero even at Betvoyager I believe), and there is no system and no strategy.

You pays your money and you takes your chances.

Better chance than slots to break even.

My system? I bet a split on my birthday and my kid's birthday. Pays 17:1, I make 10 bets. If it hits, I'm up, if not I'm down.

Play single zero roulette vs american...your odds are better.

I want to play Roulette but I don't know how and is it a man or a woman's game. Be honest I know the deal. Lol.
Well, I don't want to sound sexist, but I'd say it's womans game... in B&M casinos.
However, online it's mans game - it always seems to be men posting on forums saying they've found the "Magical Holy Grail" way to change the laws of mathematics and beat the game... :p

If you're in the USA (I think you are), I would not bother if I were you. The main fun of roulette is spreading loads of chips all over the table & seeing if you get that lucky hit; but so far I have failed to find ANY reputable casinos with chips smaller than $1 who accept USA players. So unless you have very deep pockets, it's a no-no.
Ironically, if you weren't in the USA you could play with chips as small as $0.10! :eek2:

I enjoy the chance game of roulette!
its for everybody who like chances I guess...

I actually consider it the fairest casino game. :p

Whilst it is true the house edge is better than slots, for a table game the vig is amongst the lowest the casino has to offer.

Roulette can be very exciting, seeing your number come up with a stack of chips on it. However this excitement usually comes at a price. So I have never understood where the excitement is when people just bet red/black or odd/even.

The classic image of the casino which is commonly used in promotions, is that of a glamorous lady with a big smile seemingly enjoying herself whilst placing bets at the roulette table. Whereas for card games it conjures up images of smoke filled rooms and men drinking.

More and more females are gambling these days, and research does show that some woman are more likely to be drawn into certain types of gambling.
Online bingo being a prime example, as it has more of a community feel about it, where players can interact and chat with fellow members.

Some online slots are clearly designed for woman. MGs popular Ladies Night being a good example. Other slots designed in girly colours.

Overall though I would say its all about the image and perception these games conjure up. For instance UK bookmakers have spent years trying to get away from the image of a smoke filled room with old men coughing. Online casinos has helped make gambling more universal amongst the sexes.

I play roulette betting only red or black. The excitement is when I must bet the maximum bet due to the progression,it hit, feeling somekind of save from danger.
If the result is the other way round, sweating, feel depress, panic.

What are you smoking? lol. Yes, the house edge for roulette is less than slots, but the vig, even for single zero roulette, 2.7%, is the higest I play. Consider the vig for most (all?) blackjack is less than 1%, as is the Pass Line bet in craps (even before odds), and at least some VP games. Baccarat is just over 1% (except for the sucker Tie bet), as are Place bets on 6/8 in Craps. I could go on.

Hi Dave, rereading this I can see it was a typo error on my part. When I said the lowest edge, I was trying to say the poorest value edge in the house. Meaning the worst for a table game. Hence why I wouldn't touch roulette with a barge pole! :notworthy

My apologies.

Yes, you're right, but... what about variance?
What's the most you can win from a single bet with those games;
I know Blackjack is a max of Bet x1.5, not sure about pass-line at Craps or Baccarat, but I think it's LESS than that isn't it?
With Roulette you can win considerably more - up to bet x 35 if you were only betting on 1 number (not very likely, but I'm sure you get my drift).
Theoretically if you play ANY game with ANY house edge you will lose in the end (i.e. that's ALL casino games).
So what it comes down to in the end is personal preference; do you like high or low variance games. Within reason, I don't think the HA of a game has very much effect on the player's enjoyment of playing it, whether it be BlackJack, Roulette, Slots, or whatever.

BTW, what does "vig" mean?

If you haven't played before lets start with the basics
Always play European Roulette and never American Roulette. Probabilities are much higher on Euro due to single 0 vs single and double zeros in american..

I don't think there are any more male vs female games. Every sex can be found to play most all games--craps might be an exception(seems I hardly ever see a female at the craps table)

There are a variety of games you can play which have a variety of odds associated with them. Obviously picking a single number will have great odds but a low success rate.

Playing red-black or odd-even can have high success rate but low odds. If you bet 5 and win you win 5.

Check out the wizard of odds web site if you want to learn about all the different games and probablities/odds as well as best strategies. Just search under roulette odds and you will find his site listed someplace on page one.

It can be a fun game. Good luck to you!

That's cool. I was hoping something got "lost in translation"
