Intro:

It has come to my attention that MG does indeed monitor this forum and listen to the public opinion when new games are released. Therefore feedback could influence what path they will take in future games. Of course I am happy they read my reviews and gives me another reason for writing them.

Last month when I wrote my review of "No Worries" I had actually never hit the feature! Normally I hit the feature at least 3 times before writing my review, but the reels was just against me. I have had 3 smaller sessions since and I have yet not hit the feature. So in more than 1500 consecutive spins on this slot I have not hit the feature. This is an all-time record for me. However since the feature is about freespins, I know this feature by heart and I wrote the review anyway. However there was two unique mechanic. You could respin the complete feature if you did not like this win and then the multiplier booster. This was one of the best news mechanics MG has come up with in a long time, but why did I not give it a brilliant review you might ask. But this is because I am so tired of playing the slot and having to hit 5 scatters to get the feature. It is not because it is hard to the feature, but because the scatters are all over reels (but not on all five at the same time of course) and they just gets into way for any other line wins making this slot very boring to play in non-feature mode. It does simply not make up for the brilliant feature. "Doctor Doctor" has a similar brilliant feature, but on this slot the feature was over almost before it started. Both of these slots was so close to make it to my top 10 list, if it was not for these minor design flaws/balancing issues. The balancing of the "The Osbournes" was much better.

News/Ramblings/Discoveries:

Wagerworks:
Looks like the Elvis-slot will be further delayed. I know first hand that does happens in the software-industry, but I would appreciate if the delay would be announced as soon as it is a reality.

Net Entertainment:
Eurolinx casino never replied to my mail with the bug report and screenshot showing how I got cheated for a jackpot feature, which I explained in my review last month.

Rival:
Rival released two new slots with the titles "Fantasy Fortune" and "Future Fortunes". They are worth mentioning if you play Rival slots, because I believe these two are the best Rival slots so far. They are standard 5-reel slots with a freespin and a picking feature, though "Future Fortunes" also has fixed expanding-wild on reel 1 during the feature. To be fair there is one unique mechanic for Rival slots. If you hit the picking-feature during the freespins, then the freespin multiplier will also apply to the picking feature. The picking feature on "Fantasy Fortune" is one of the better picking-and-reveal-price feature avaliable. Each win is not trivial as they are on many MG slots (a few times bet-size) and combined with the featurespin multiplier it often give 100-200*bet size, which is a good win on any slot. Also there has been put a lot of work on the graphics/gameplay of this feature. Go have a look yourself.

Rival has shown the are now mastering the basics of 5-reel slots. Now I am just hoping for a little more innovation on the mechanics in future slots.

3Dice:
While we are talking about innovation, we better the medal to 3Dice. The new "MedivalMoolah" was a dream come true. The oldschool 3-reel slots were revolutionized by the "Double Diamond" slot, which interestingly now can be played on WagerWork casinos. On this slot one wild symbol multiplies wins. Nothing new about that, but getting two wilds give a higher multiplier. Since it become so popular I have been asking myself for 5 years why this concept was not to the 5-reel slots, it was just so painfully obvious to do this! 3Dice finally listened to my prayers. The multipliers are (*4,*8,*12 and *24) for (1,2,3 or 4 wilds) on a payline, so it also implemented fully by having such high multipliers. This mechanic makes this slot the most entertaining 5-reel slot to play in non-feature mode. You can read more about this slot in this thread here where I also gave it a review.

Reviews:

Gladiator:
50 lines
Low/Medium variance

The intro is trivial but pretty as always. Try think about what the most obvious intro for a "Gladiator" titled slot, and you will get extremely close to this. MG themes and intro are very mainstream as expected from a big company compared to Rival etc. who are brave enough to have titles like "Grandma's attic".

The symbol graphics are eye candy they are exactly as they should be and what I am used to from MG slots. It is the smooth cartoonish symbols and the fluid motion of the spinning that goes well together. The sounds does not relate much to the theme, but they did also not disturb the theme. The MG spinning sound of the reels for most slots is superior to the click-clack-click that many other software providers also use for every slot.

This slot has a few new paytable mechanics. There are wild on all 5-reel, but no wild multiplier. But the new thing is that the wilds does not have a paytable, meaning they will just substitute. So getting 3 or 4 wilds in the start of a payline will not pay as much as you are used to. This is compensated by each reel having many wild symbols, so they are not that hard to hit. Also the two top pay-symbols can be combined on a payline, but pays less than hitting identical symbols of course. This is a nice mechanic (where is it I have seen it before btw.?) that gives an extra touch.

The only feature is the standard freespin feature triggered by hitting 3 scatters (anywhere). But you are then awarded 100 freespins! And yes
this is also if you only hit 3 scatters. Needless to say, freespins can not be retriggered and has no multiplier. The scatters are not as hard to hit as you might think. The paytable is really low for the low-end symbols, but you can not get it all. I estimate the average feature win to be 40-50 bet size, so do not quit your daytime job if you hit the feature :)

This is an extreme slot and I think the balancing of the feature-frequency and paytable is perfect. It fills an empty spot amoung the existing MG slots.
It is fun to get 100 freespins, but the slot veterans might lose interest after some time, when they realize this is a low variance slot despite the 100 freespins.

This is the first 50-line MG slot, but do not get excited about this. Playing many lines decrease variance, and you really do not want this for slot because of the high house edge. Read some of my older reviews for more details. Still you can just play the normal 9/15/25 lines you are used to and like. But I had to try getting 100 freespins on 50 lines just once.

I really like this slot, but it will not make it into my top 10 MG slots, but it is close. I will play this slot again. This is a slow and gently slot you can relax while playing and sometimes I want to play this kind of slots. Quite unlike "Isis" where every feature is a drama. (Sometimes you want it slow and gently without surprises other times you want to be taken hard.)

Snow Honyes
20 lines
Medium variance

No intro. The theme is about about skiing and babes but mixed with some more childish symbols like a sleeping bear. Without the childish stuff I could
relate better to the theme. The graphics are good and this slot has new music and sounds.

It is not a clone since it has a new paytable, but the mechanics are identical to "Boogie Monsters" and in fact the paytables are also almost identical.
So I will not explain it all again. Last month I said I hoped "Boogie Monsters" would be the last slot to just use this slot template This month
I can say the same for "Snow Honeys". This slot template is unique and interesting, but there is no need for more clones.

Curry in a Hurry
25 lines
Low variance

The theme is about hot curry and chili. The theme is lost quickly and not just because this slot has the 9TJQKA symbols. Only the 2 symbols are about chili(scatter and top pay). The symbols could have been different kind of chili peppers (jalapenos, cayenne etc.) this would make me thirsty when playing. And then the beer symbol should have been the scatter instead. The theme
is important for a slot and MG can do a lot better than this. ("Loaded","Hitman", "Mad Hatters" etc.)

The symbol graphics for this slot is the MG style that I dislike. I like the bigger and more colorful symbols better as I wrote in the "Gladiator" review. MG slots seems to use one of these two styles for symbol graphics.

The only feature this slot has is a picking feature. You get 3 picks (maybe more if you hit more scatters). Every win I got was between *3 and *15 bet-size. The *15 bet-size was the highest possible on the chili-meter. This makes the wins for every feature very constant. You will win very close to *20 bet-size on every feature without much excitement. This is the worst release this month and I will not play it again.

My favorite MG slots
#1 Isis
#2 Mad Hatters
#3 Hitman
#4 Avalon
#5 Moonshine
#6 Mega Moolah
#7 Harvey's
#8 Loaded
#9 Thunderstruck
#10The Osbournes

Thanks for your comprehensive review.I look forward to reading it every month.

My take on the new games after a quick run through:

I got the feature 3 times on Gladiators (in Practice Mode). The features paid out approx. 11x, 30x, and 15x bet. I dozed off (I am not joking) during the 3rd feature. I'm sorry, but for me, that game is one for Auto spins, or not at all. With no multiplier, or possible retrigger, there's not a lot to keep my interest.

Snow Honeys is 'cute'.

Curry in a Hurry is ... not for me. Crappy theme, uninspiring graphics.

And I won't touch those wierd 'fruity' bar game/slot thingys with a 10 foot pole. (What's 'AWP' mean anyway?) If I don't understand what's happening and what I need to do when, I don't play.

I am going to play them tomorrow night .
I have done well on the Boogie Monsters game but that's about it . Avalon hasn't been hitting lately for me but it is still one of my favs .

Hi thanks for your post zoozie i read your last one. I won a $300 bonus at royal vegas so ill give them ago for free tomorrow. Avalon used to be one off my faves till it took 1600 or more spins to hit feature jeez i run out off money on that one and knowing that my next feature would be fast and fat i couldnt up my bets like i would normaly do because i was skint lol wouldnt you know it was fast and four wilds with big multiplyer paid nearly all my dosh back lol. thanks for the input i will be reading your next post to even know it spoils it abit bye.

Thanks for your reviews once again Zoozie :notworthy

If Gladiator isnt the worst MG slot Ive ever played, then I dont know what is. I hit the free spins, and its 7.2 minutes of my life I'm never getting back - and the whole 17x bet I got back was a complete load of youknowwhat.

I couldnt get the curry feature, and played 30 spins on the snow slot without ANY pay at all.

Im going to stick with 3Dice this month yet again...at least I feel I have some chance of winning.

(What's 'AWP' mean anyway?)

"Amusement With Prizes"

I.E Not entirely random
I.E Openly rigged! :D

It means essentially that there's a pre-determined payout, and the slot will take x amount of money before paying out y amount of money - as opposed to the RNG mechanism of most slots.

Thanks again Zoozie - great stuff

Same problem with Boss Media

Net Entertainment:
Eurolinx casino never replied to my mail with the bug report and screenshot showing how I got cheated for a jackpot feature, which I explained in my review last month.

For your information, the Boss Media slot Kangaroo Zoo has the same design flaw. You get only one feature, no matter you get the needed 3 symbols on 5 winlines or you get more than 3 symbols on one line.

I think you have pretty much summed up this months collection of releases in oh so few words Mousey. Slow, boring and unimaginative.

Normaly im all full of praise for zoozies reviews, but a lot of you are congratulating him this month for his reviews on the latest round of slots and while i have the utmost respect for zoozie and the fact that i usually agree with him much more often than not, this month he is wrong! Just cannot agree with his assesment of these slots, most noticeably Gladiators. you cannot rate this slot as grade `A` in my opinion when so many people think it is poor. This is because it IS poor. Even if i won mega on it which i didnt snd doubt many people will. (not with crapy 4 coin wins and x1 multiplier :eek2:) To write a glowing review about it for everyone else when its clear that this slot falls short on so many levels is a little bizzare for me and not what im used to zoozie. You dont normally let personal opinion sway your judgement in these matters. :D

Thanks for the feedback. I did write in my review that veteran slot players would not like this slot, and maybe I should have made this more clear.

I still think Gladiator is a worthy release. The parameters for this slot it much different from existing slots. 100 free spins is remarkable since they are so relative easy to hit. The graphics are great. I would rather have new slots instead of clones of existing good slots and Gladiator is different. The graphics/sound is perfect and it is good balanced ie. you can also win something in non-feature mode. If you want to have 100 freespins and they are easy to hit, you can not expect the feature to pay a lot just because it is 100 freespins. Payout% has to be near the MG 95% mark.

I also wrote I would only play this slot only when I want some slow relaxing action and now I have the opportunity. I have an analogy. If I was a movie reviewer and I had to review a children movie, I could still give it a good review though I do not prefer children movies. This is the situation here. Some would say is a great movie (children) but if you are not into that you will be bored.

"Gladiator" is a low variance slot which also very predictable but some slot players like that, they do not like playing 1000 spins on Isis with no feature and payout of 30% during the session.

However I think everyone would agree "Curry in a Hurry" is a crappy slot. This is the difference.

Thats a fair and honest assesment zoozie and your probably right of course, im probably just a little miffed i had to sit through half an hour of dratted free spins that paid blankety blankety lol I dont think this slot will appeal much as you say to serious slot players.

Gladiator Is CRAP!!!

great reviews and it's always great to read everyone's feedback. I'm only going to comment on 1 game - Gladiator. WHAT A CRAPPY GAME!!!!

Firstly - it's a 50 line game. That entices people to play more lines. Only thing is, you very rarely win more than you bet....EVER!!!! The win hit rate of the game is really poor....money does not last long on this one.

Secondly - What an insult to the players to have 5 of a kinds paying 50 and 75 credits!!!! Why do they think players will mind getting paid sweet FA for a 5 of a kind, it's so damn hard to get them in the first place!!!! This is common for a lot of Micro slots and is a product of lazy designers they have employed!!!! This is a pet hate of mine as I truely belief you should be rewarded when getting any 5 of a kind, they obviously don't know how to create stuff properly

100 Free Spins - what a joke!!! Takes forever to trigger and then to play out, coupled with the average pay hit rate of the games and poor pays....u get nothing for spending all that money in triggering the thing in the first place.

This game gets a -5 out of 10 from me.

Think up something new Micro, you've recylced themes way too often.

i suggest that everybody boycott this gladiator slot and make MG choke on their own greed  As spirit said, HOW stupid do they think their players are? In my industry if i treated my customers any where NEAR how Mg treat us I wouldnt have many of them for long

Every MG 5-reel slot has 95-95.5% payout. So they are all equals in terms of winning/losing, however the variance if different. For low variance slot it will be hard to win during a long session, but on the other hand loss is more limited compared to a high variance slot, but here you have a greater chance of winning the session. Yet, the EV for both is the same.

Whether I win or lose does not matter for my review. And I know you can not beat the slots, they are one of the worst casino game to play in terms of winnings. So I review the fun factor. And 100 freespins are fun. They have the same EV as 10 freespins with *10 multiplier. But if "Gladiator" had this, then 99% of all freespin feature would suck big time. And the feature would be over too fast.

Slot veterans prefer medium/high variance slot and so do I, but some years ago I had a lot of fun playing "Cabin Fever" and" HO HO HO", but today they are too boring because of the variance. And "Cabin Fever" is still a good and popular slot and it also have a unique feature-triggering mechanic. (later reused by "Harvey's".)

If you are only into the medium/high variance slot, you will not like a low/medium variance slot no matter what review I give them. The only low/medium variance slot I play regulary is "Moonshine", because it is a good theme.

I would generally agree with you Zoozie that 100 free spins are fun, but not on this slot. 100 free spins on this slot is more like agony. Free spins are only fun so long as you know there is a chance at least of getting a really nice win. For example 36 free spins on Prime Property or 12 free spins on santa paws where you could get 5 pseudo whales out at a x7 multiplier, or maybe 20 free spins on isis where you `cud` get 5 birds out or even better 5 wilds for collosal money. 100 free spins at x1 on a slot that rarely pays out more than 4p a line and goes so slow even on quick spin you fall asleep is alas not fun. I vote Gladiators as this years worst slot release across any platform on any format :D

*your always gonna get critics zoozie hehe sorry lol *

This is my 2 cents worth..Gladiator is indeed boring but the Snow Honeys actually insults your intelligence...cmon, sleeping bears, cutsey bunnies...sorry but IMHO there was nothing new this month that is worth spending money on.

Don't get me started on Snow Honeys :puke:

I have played all 3 games a fair bit now and the only one I have seen give me a good run is Curry In A Hurry - go figure!?!?!

Sure, Gladiator is a low variance slot - but it takes so long to achieve any result. No multiplier during the free games - come on!!! Why not half the number of free spins and double the multiplier????

I have limited time to play slots, and I will not waste my time playing this - did they create this as a joke!?!?!?!

Hi everyone had to come back and check on this thread after playing a couple off those new slots today. I new it would go off after these intresting releaes lol.

Ok so i played gladiator first it took me about $80 to hit feature on $1 bets and payd back $60 but it triggerd on four scatters which started me off at $20 but was lucky to hit my next lot early on when i was up a couple off bucks it payd back $40.

So yes i won $20 overal, Then i took all my loveraly free cash to snow honeys where i allmost lost the will to live i did get 8 free spin features for my $328 on $1 bets but they all payd so low and the reels spin so fast with little pays which makes it real hard to enjoy.

Ok so i zero out and made a small cash deposit off $46 and was lucky to hit a bonus round on my 2nd spin and five scatters on my 15th spin + anouther $74 on top very strange to go from no hope to profit in 17 spins, I still hate the game i would off lost if i started out with cash would never play again did better on the outher clones.

Also i would like to add unlike boogie slot free spins dont trigger again during and to hit 30 free spins you need five scatters at least well for me.

Ok so the curry slot no thanks dont like curry cant relate at all only play slots with free spins.

Ok being these days my only hit is from free spins bonus rounds i did like gladiator because off the long bonus round it was fun 1st time round probaly would not go back but you no maybe would if lost for choice in the lobby.
But if i needed to do some wagering on a bonus then yes i would go back to gladiator you no a fair bit off wagering to go after awhole lot off big wins and wanted that cashout with little losses from now on.

last thing every screen shot i have seen from gladiator has been round $20 a coin now does anyone got a better one.

Ps. now moonshine now who said they like the game i played it a few times and got hit with i think a few free spins on maybe 1x multiplyer never went back. Ok i think it was you zoozie sale the game to me the high points and add the low points to we are talking $$$ers hear. and maybe i will have a new release this month.

Moonshine imo is definately in the top end of the better games on the mg network. Sure it can be frurstrating getting the bonus, picking badly and ending up with 4 spins at x1  but pick luckily enough and end up with a x4 and 15 free spins and you quite possibly are talking serious money if some nice hits come in :) I know cos i hit the 5 wilds on this one during a times a x4 free spin bonus. Lets just say I was very happy :D

There was briefly two more new games at 32RED yesterday... Something like "Polar Story" and "Medusa" something... Wild was the Medusa symbol with three unicorns to trigger the free spins. The Polar one looked like a "Boogie Monsters"/"Snow Honeys" type affair...

They subsequently seem to have disappeared :eek2:

Strange although Its quite possible that MG has the next sevearl months worth of games releases already at hand and maybe 32Red got given extras by accident lol

Gladiator is Crap

Hate this game. 100 free spins is nothing more than a lure. Low 5 OaK prizes on the lower symbols, no multiplier in the feature, no retrigger.

12m30s on the feature to play out when you know you're only getting crap back.

Micro - what were you thinking! Players demand more than this.
