odds and ends

Twitter keeps sending me this artistic, highbrow stuff, I have to say their algorithm is top notch :p

Imagine waking up in this abode with its swiss lake views...funnily enough I am having a slight déjà vu moment, I must've seen this pic before :eek2::confused:

I saw this the other day, its hard to not get a little bit jealous.
The nature in Northern Sweden is also pretty neat, but Sweden is very flat compared to Norway.
The place in the video looks like a really nice place to live.

A weird one, and difficult to categorize - but in a whimsical time pre-internet, where shows like Pop Idol became the precursor to the End Times, many people would've been aware of the 'characters' on display, before the saturation point we've attained today.

Darius Danesh was one such fellow who embedded himself into the nation's conscience when TV was still somewhat worthwhile, and rather than being another also-ran wannabe, actually carved out quite an impressive career both in the Charts and in theatre.

I was there, I remember the zeitgeist, and his death at 41 pretty impactful, at least to some Brits. A strange one indeed, and pretty sad.

And who can forget his Britney audition? :eek2:

Interesting journey that follows a photographer working on a book based on tribal life in Ethiopia.

There is a tribe that sculpts their hair like a particular tree, and only the best hair gets the best ladies at the local market - Some things are the same everywhere you go, flash buggers....

Other than posting the video online (because why would you) isnt it just people dancing and having fun?

"The video shows Ms Marin drinking with a group of friends, singing and dancing to songs by Finnish rapper Petri Nygård and pop singer Antti Tuisku."

Imo the only weird thing is the tweet, some real incel bs.
'Shes having fun with friends, that means she will cheat on her husband'
A bit ironic because only a so called 'beta' would be that insecure about their relationship.

All i know for sure is that real Alpha males cry atleast a thousand times.

Personally i think the only blunder was to upload the video.
She does have a job that more or less requires a professional&serious public image, but i couldnt care less what she does during her free time as long as shes professional and serious while at work. (this goes for all politicians)

Politicians are people too (mostly) and they also need to have fun and blow off steam, but like i said they should probably avoid posting it online.

I think it was leaked somehow, maybe shared between her circle of friends and a journalist got hold of a copy?

She's got her clothes still on, pretty normal party fare for a 36 yr old, but I would draw the line at close up twerking to a camera, you don't want to see your PM engaging in that, luckily she didn't go there. An image of Liz truss booty shaking to get young urban votes has now popped into my head :eek2:

Let's face it, she was voted in because of her attractiveness, and continues to have a following, not to mention one or two questionable decisions 'overlooked' because of it, I have no doubt.

Also indicative of the cringe of today, that letting your hair down and having a good time isn't enough; one has to let the world know and capture it for all to see, because that's what you call being 'truly in the moment'

Fact is, however innocent or well-intentioned, and no one expects them to be automatons incapable of some private down time, they're world leaders that make the tough decisions affecting millions of people's lives, through various hardships, crises and so forth, and any air of authority is somewhat diminished at the sight of them boogieing the night away acting like clout-chasing Tik Tokkers.

Pretty much like I don't expect to see footage of Nelson Mandela breaking into The Twist, or Eisenhower doing The Robot. But then just further proof that today's breed of politician is more concerned with their public image, than actually getting on with just doing their job well without the need for Social Media validation ?

Told my partner this the other day, only to be met with "I know". She's ahead of the curve!

To think companies would ever want to dupe people over decades under false pretences for obscene profits.

Don't I feel silly!

Tax revenue is down? Let's make people drink more alcohol.

Young people these days... they don't really understand what's important in life do they?

The “Sake Viva!” campaign, which is being overseen by Japan’s National Tax Agency, wants individuals or groups of up to three people aged between 20 and 39 to submit proposals for promotions that could encourage young people to get drinking. ?

Interesting alternative theory to the official fossil one i.e. "A fossil fuel is a hydrocarbon-containing material formed naturally in the earth's crust from the remains of dead plants and animals that is extracted and burned as a fuel."

LOL... they've noticed wells in the N.Sea and elsewhere 'refill' a bit too when they were thought to have run dry.

Of course, the halfwits forget the main universal force, gravity.

They pump water in to replace oil in the cavity. Oil floats on water. So over a few years, the heavier water forces its way into the bedrock where the oil once sat. The unextracted oil from the bedrock floats up and is replaced by water. So years later, what they thought was a dome in the rock full of water, the top proportion of it is now oil! Fuck me, Newton could have told the Russians that hundreds of years ago...

Don't show that to the Americans, they'll claim they invented it. It's not actually a computer, but a mechanical orrery, using the same principle as the clock which came later. Some clever bastard worked out that with the stats they knew such as moon phase, earth rotation, sun etc. they could make cogs of the right ratio and size to simulate the orbits that they only previously had in writing. It doesn't actually compute, but predicts astrological events on the dial according to its fixed gears when you wind the cogs around. The maths is relatively straightforward, but handmaking all those cogs to match the maths is incredible for its age. Wow!

I wish they would have expanded a bit more about the gears part, because he was like 'Stuff from ancient greece simply shouldnt have gear wheels'
but they never really explained how/why that thing has those tiny super precise gear wheels.
They make it sound like it couldnt have been built in ancient Greece, the least they could do is tell me when&where it could have been built.

Yes, I watched that Aliens series last year, how they theorize that some people like Newton and Von Braun were given their knowledge by alien mind feeding etc. and they helped build Stonehenge, Pyramids in Egypt and S.America. Sometimes it was embarrassingly weird, sometimes Erik Von Daniken said some plausible stuff. Brass and bronze have been around for millennia long before steel was discovered to be possible from iron. They are relatively easy to work with and a bright mathematical mind (after all, gears are basically physical representations of maths equations and calculation) could design a machine on paper quite easily - making the parts would have been an arduous task but not impossible with the right metal and files. Newton and Galileo both drew up many a mechanical device on paper but never made them as far as I know, but by then clocks and early pocket watches were being made. There's no reason it couldn't have been made in Greece at all.

Unless Greece back then were shipping in Maersk containers from China with cheap knock-off products.

Yeah designing or knowing how to do it in theory is one thing, to have the tools&skill required to make it is another.
Like you said many inventions only existed on paper for a long time because the technology was not really there to make them reality.

Im obviously not saying it was aliens, but its weird when these irregularities show up and they dont really have a good explanation for them.
Even if it was just one dude smart enough to make those gears wouldnt he have made more of them so we would have found more of them?
I mean its no wonder people jump to conclusions that some people back then had 'outside help' to create and/or think of some of the things they did.

That alien series on History channel was a bit too 'out there' for me, at least most of what was brought up.
There are some crazy stuff still standing today that was built a long time ago, the temples/pyramids that have 'designed' echoes are cool.
Cant have been easy to build back then with the tools available to them.

Yes - they've also found a cylinder in Iraq or somewhere with remnants of what looks very much like a primitive battery, which we credit nowadays to Volta. Then there's the famous Piri Reis map which as far as we know couldn't have been produced without the combined knowledge of renowned circumnavigators/explorers like Vespucci, Cook, Da Gama, Drake and Magellan who were centuries later - therefore it must have come from aerial images way above the Earth.

Seeing as my fellow CM members like a gamble with a potential scandal, thought I'd share this here. The situation occured on the Hustler high stakes poker stream. Been reading the (long) thread on 2+2 over the past few days since it happened, and watched the odd vid (Doug polk, joey inghtam, bart hanson to name a few that are covering this on tube). It's pretty crazy how its been evolving.. but I copied this post from a poster on 2+2 today because there's just too much shit to mention for me to both be assed to write it out and have a hope in hell of managing to remember everything while doing so:

(For those who perhaps don't understand why her calling with J4o is such a disgustingly bad call here, obviously while he could well be bluffing, and he indeed was [semi] bluffing, sometimes even when you are sure beyond any doubt they are bluffing, you just can't call. Sometimes, especially n this situation, you can easily work out yhat your hand loses to any made hand, and literally all the hands your opponent might be bluffing with, if he is bluffing. If Garret has even just an Ace, King or queen in hs hand, his bluff is still the best hand at the time and she is drawing thin. The way the action leading up to the call goes down, really does mean that the only hand she can beat by calling her opponents all in on the turn bluff while she is holding J4 off suit, is literally the exact 2 cards he has. And even if, by some miracke for her, he IS holding those 2 cards, it is still roughly a coin flip as to who wins.

Anyway, thought I'd share. I read 2+2 off and on, never seenmore than 75-150 online users in my time of readng it over the years. Been a steady 200-400 online over the past few days... everyone likes a potential scandal :D
Anyway, the quote below sums up more or less whsts evoloved snce this hand of poker happened..

"Robbi Jade Lew (semi-recreational player, 3rd time appearance on Hustler Casino Live) played a bizarre hand vs Garrett Adlestein (long term pro and long term player on the show)

Hand History:

Garrett bets $10K
Robbi raises to $20K
Garrett raises putting Robbi all in for $129K effective
Robbi calls

They run it twice and Robbi scoops.

2) Garrett sees the J4o and it is clear he immediately suspects cheating. A conversation is had between Garrett, Ryan Feldman (owner/producer of Hustler Casino Live) and Robbi outside of the room, apparently in some hallway of the casino. Varying testimony between 3 parties if Robbi offered or Garrett intimidated a refund, but Garrett got his $135k back.

Rip, Robbi’s backer, learns of this refund and shouting can be heard off camera. Garrett returns to table, gathers his things, and leaves. The game continues with Robbi playing.

3) This hits the internet and goes mainstream, hitting many major media outlets and conjuring up Qanon level conspiracy theories.

4) Pros begin taking sides, notably Doug Polk in the likely cheated camp and Daniel Negreanu likely innocent camp

5) Camps primarily divided between cheated: no one takes this action with this hand, and not cheated: people tilt / misread / do weird things. Also a bad spot to cheat.

6) Speculative theories surface:
-vibrating chair (explained, but not confirmed, as a tapping foot)
-square object in Robbi’s pants (explained as a seam, seemingly confirmed by video at different angles)
-vibrating sex toy (speculation, no evidence)
-suspicious water bottle, ring, necklace (speculation, no evidence)

7) Joey Ingram has literally everyone in the poker community on his stream, multiple times, for 10hr + sessions. Camps remain unchanged.

8) Robbi goes on Joeys podcast as well as other news outlets. She claims a misread and that she thought she had J3 (which was her prior hand).

9) Garrett donates $135K to Big Brother, Big Sister organization of which he is a member and big brother.

10) Video shows that the 4
heart-emoji.svg
and 6
club-emoji.svg
were swapped with replacements approximately 30 minutes before the controversial hand. Ryan Feldman has tweeted that they were from separate decks and irrelevant to the investigation. No one has fully explained how this could mess up the alleged cheat, but the fact remains that 4
heart-emoji.svg
was the 4 in Robbi’s J4, and the 6
club-emoji.svg
makes this a (relatively) standard hand.

11) HCL releases a statement that as a part of their internal investigation they had discovered video evidence that Bryan Sagbigsal, who was HCL staff, had removed $15k from Robbi’s stack after the incident. Robbi was notified, but did not want to pursue criminal charges. From evidence posted on twitter, it appears that Bryan has a criminal record.

12) Robbi shared direct messages that Bryan allegedly sent her thanking her for not pressing charges.

""

-----------
I will add to this, that for no.11 , It has been proven since that Bryan, who worked at Hustlers live casino room, who stole on camera 15k from robbies stack (An insane thing to do, since he did it not too long after, or very shortly after robbie was talking to someone away fro the table, n a video that he must have known was going to be scrutinised by alot of people)
similarly as to with Garrett, she said she was not bothered about the 15k he stole, andsaid she did not want to press charges. Bryan has since been sacked.

However, thanks to doug coinflex polk, apparently it has been said that this now ex employee of hustler guy, Bryan, not too recently rearranged his desk in the back room to "make more space". which resulted in him moving his chair to the side, coincidently giving him a better view from where he works to see the hole cards that were being transmitted for the live stream, while also shuffling a cabinet or something to the side of him closer, a rearrangement that strangely resulted in giving him less space. This though conveniently meant that exactly what he was doing in that back production room while having access to the hole cards, wasn't completely visable by the security cameras in it.

At first I thought she was innocent, I've seen donks pay me with similar hands in the past. Scratching my head as to why they would call when out of all the possible hands I could have, they lose to 99% of them due to what they are holding, regardless of if I'm bluffing or not. But they were consistently bad players, and they never called 115k, it was usually something more around the 115p - 1115p area.

I added this because, there are so many inconsistencies throughout, It is starting to actually look like this is much bigger than 1 or two people trying to cheat. Some people think that the people running the game at Hustler itself is playing a role in an ongoing scam, and the fact that it has been proven that a guy with multiple previous convictions was working in the back room, with access to hole cards, on one of the biggest ever streamed poker cash games, kind of suggests that despite them sayng it was a solid setup... It rewlly wasn't.
Some think that Gryan took the chips off the table because he knew that he wasnt getting paid for his part in the scam if the money was returned, panicked, and took his cut (10% of what was won, roughly) assuming he wouldnt get it now that Robvie had returned Garret her winnngs, some think he just took a chance when he saw free money (despite knowing the timing would be insane, and he could do it any other day when the video wouldnt bbe watched by the entire poker community), and some even think he is the fsll guy.

Whatever it is, its pretty interesting if you enjoy poker, and like a scandal.
This guy Bryan, literally days after being fired for stesling from robvie (and robvie not pressing charges) has agreed to go on joey ingrams podcast. This is the same Bryan who had recently tweeted before being found to have stole 15k off the table stealing, tweeted about how secure hustler is and that nobody could possibly be cheating in the back rooms. The same guy who just so happened to also have access to the hole cards.
The way the people who run Hustler have handled this makes many suspect it goes very, very deep. Myself included.

Just thought id share! I've not included every detail but doug polk or bart hanson, joey inghram have done a few update vids if anyone wants to get quick run downs of the latest development. The actual real reason I posted this was just so I could ask the guy who started this thread a simple question.
MACK. WHERE DAFUQ U AT BRO?

Lol. this is just one of the crazy assumptions as to why the chair was vibrating. The guy who wrote that which i copied and pasted was kinda adding some of the comical/ dumb replies as to how they can communicate. Its an online forum, and since the chair was rocking before the call, every idea possible came up, including what would make the chair vibrate.
Theres gonna be a lot of ideas thrown about, and dumbass comments, such as a vibrating sex toy made the chair vibrate. But the situation is getting a lot of attention, and rightfully so. There are so many endless coincidences coming to light that it absolutely stinks. If you watch the hand, it does seem that she knew she was ahead with 1 card tocoee but couldnt understand why she was being told to call, with J high. Yet she did it anyway. Then came out with endless reasons as to why. Constantly contradicting herself.

It just so happens, that during the same game, 2 cards were removed from the deck and replaced due to being bent or not reading on the rdif scanner which relays cards to the backroom to put up onthe livestresm later. The 2 cards which were replaced, happen to 2 of the exact cards that would play a vitsl part in this specific hand, if she was being given information from someone as to what her opponent had. Huge coincidence. Only, when she called, even she was acting as if she didnt know why she did it. Almost as if the person who was signalling her, got confused as to exactly what Garrett and she had, due to the cards not reading properllyand being replaced, but knew enough to know she was ahead at the time.
Its a fucked uo read on 2+2 forum,if you can ignore the mention of butt plugs and erm, anal beads (though that was chess, wasnt it? lol)
IMO the people who run hustler are shady as fuck how theyve gone about this. How do they even let a person with prior convictions for theft, DUI, And other offences he'd spent time for, have access to hole cards in real time in a game where 6 people each sit down with up to 500k cash, and rebuy more if they lose.

Yeah, there is a similar scandal in the chess world with anal beads. I saw a picture the other day that the guy who is accused of doing that was being scanned before entering the venue for a game...

I've read some of this poker stuff and shook my head. It wouldn't be the first scandal in the (online) poker world either.

I caught it at day1, had some time to waste so watched the vid and then read what went down. At first I beleieved she was innocent. Even with her contradicting herself after the hand as to why she called.
But so much shit has come to pass since, more than what has been mentioned above, and since i caught the thread early I have been keeping up to date with the thread at 2+2, rather than having to spend 85 years going through 100 pages, and since I've almost done a complete 180. Just so, so many coincidences.

It's crazy how the guy who runs the live show, went off the table with both garrett and the woman, and when she came back she informed people at the table she had given the money back to Garrett and wanted to just move on. And the guy running the show, who went off with her and garrett for a chat, was ok to let her sit down and for the stream to continue .
Garrett left though, after being refunded his wager of 115k in the hallway off cameras with the hustler dude acting almost as some kind of middle man.
And the guy, who has since been sacked for stealing 15k of her chips while she was distracted not long after the situation occured, decides to (according to her tweet she made today) write her a text of how he is so greatful she isn't pressing charges on him and how sorry he is, and how he 100% believes she wasnt cheating. This is the same guy, who not only did what was mentioned above andhp has an extensive criminal background, but also, according to sources from hustler itself, made a weird wtf type noise while in the backroom, at the sae time when he had saw that she had handed Garrett back 115k.

For whatever reason (ok he has history so he could just be an opportunist), he then decided not long after to go and take 15k from her stack. At this time of the streams of all times being the worst time to do something on camera, knowing this is now going to be seen and viewed by millions of poker enthusiasts, but does it anyway. Almost sounds like someone panicked after just watching his 10% be given away, and perhaps thought no, fu, do what you want with your cut, im taking mine one way or another, and I know you arent ratting on me if i do.. . He probably would have gotten away with it had he done it anyother time, where the video is not going to be scrutinized frame by frame by the utube army.

This is also the same guy who when the incident occured, initially tweeted out how secure the hustler live casino production js and that its 100% impossible anyone in the backroom could be cheating with the hole cards information.. Using big capital letters expressing his sincerity. And then its revealed he stole 15k from the table.
In his message she tweeted of his today, he claims to not even know it was hers. Which i find almost impossible to believe. She sat in the same seat almost every game she played, while others didnt, had an obvious flask next to her chips, her jacket over the back of her chair, and Theres just no way he didnt know it was her chips he took as far as I'm concerned. The more that comes out, the more it stinks that this is more than just 2 people playing a con, and it really stinks. ;)

For any concerned about my welfare or whereabouts, for the last week or so I had been taken internet hostage by a notorious tech nerd man alternatively known as william fence, I've temporarily escaped his confusing world of bios resets and boot sequences though and am back online for now! :p
Nice to see you back.

Had actually wondered where you were as not like you to dissappear for a while and asked Goatie where you were.

Glad it was just internet issues, tho to you tha would be bad but you know what i mean.

I had very limited (shared) computer access and after a few days of getting used to not being online much it felt like going back to the 90's pre internet, quite nice to not be subject to absorbing/reacting to the online political stuff/twitter.

Feels good to be back though but I may be a bit more zen regarding current affairs - at least for a while!

Partner made the rookie mistake of bringing back some Trebor Softmints earlier, which I thought had long ceased to be, but apparently not.

So that evoked an almost immediate rendition of the advert's song, which from recollection I managed to mimic pretty well for the next few hours.

Cue around 30 plays of the ad later, I think that could well be the last time she does that, even if the ad is just as dope as I remembered it!

All that'll happen is that it will drive several more 'regional' economies to form in time, where people barter or pay whatever currency or valued item is considered trade-worthy, whether that be Crowns, petro- Dollars or Chets.

It will also encourage more unregulated, never mind unaccounted-for work, way, way off any type of centralized control, and force black markets to thrive, as people will always find ways to adapt, evolve or circumvent these impositions. At least that's how it is in Warhammer 40K, so it must be true :D

Arguably the greatest piece in the corporation's history? Happy 100th! (and one day)

Twenty minutes after the television interview, Goma attended his job interview, which lasted ten minutes. He was not hired.

Good thing he caught it on camera or nobody would have believed him.

'Well the bear came flying down towards me and i just barely managed to matrix-dodge it so i didnt fall, then the bear came back for seconds and i had to punch and kick it in the face to get it to leave me alone'

'Sure you did buddy, sure you did'

Crappy luck ending up between a momma bear and her cub like that, i assume its a cub showing up bottom right about 20 seconds in.

That is insane. Did well to roll the bear past him, neat instincts....

Yes he would've likely ended up being dinner that day if the bear had managed to connect there, we're quite lucky in the UK not to have such dangerous wildlife, then again it must give nature walks an extra frisson of excitement and adrenaline, listening out for the sound of any predators!

You have a very keen eye Kroffe, I didn't spot that! Someone said in the replies the accent was eastern european, maybe romania perhaps. I was taught to make noise when out in the woods, just carry around a stick and bang it against a tree every once in a while to let them know you are coming.
Very rare to see bear in the woods around me but theres a ton of elk roaming around, and they will stay away if they hear you coming.

They are pretty goofy looking, the only really scary part about them is how big they get.
