you mean like that time Comey released that letter saying he was reopening the Clinton email investigation 11 days before the 2016 election? That fortunate timing? earlier like that?

and it turns out everyone and their grandma at the White House uses A private email server. Ivanka. Jared. Trump.

I always thought comey was obama's man and therefore would support clinton, maybe the intel committee forced his hand? Did the msm run with the story as a front headline to damage hillary's chances, I'd hazard a guess they didn't.

wikipedia:
"Many Clinton supporters claim his decisions not long before the 2016 election might have cost her the presidency,

Comey also received heavy criticism from Republicans after it was revealed that he had begun drafting an exoneration letter for Clinton before the investigation was complete "

I think there was also an element of 'hedging one's bets' in comey's actions, of trying to butter up to trump, hoping that in the event Trump won he would keep him on.

It was headline show stopping news. MSM covered it for days. Non stop.

I vaguely remember the journalists and commentators at the time being surprised with comey's decision to reopen the investigation. To my mind he was attempting to change horse and back the likely winner at the last minute, that's the only explanation that makes sense. No way did he want trump to win over hillary, but if it was going to happen he didn't want to blot his copybook with a new incoming boss.

So the context and motive make it slightly different than here, with Bannon being prosecuted 3 months before an election where everything is still finely balanced. [ imo, others will see it differently no doubt ]

These didnt age well.

Democratic convention was surprisingly good. Sure there were some awkward moments but still...pretty good!
Now republicans can do their death&destruction-convention :P

The debate will be legendary!

So, how will you work on rebuilding the country after the covid crisis?

Trump: Nobody knows more about rebuilding than me. I once built a tremendous thing, even with the crazy left saying it was not possible.

Biden: Excuse me, what was the question, and where am i?

Trump: Forget about Biden, he does not know the words. I know all the words.
Cat, woman, tv, person, and i can repeat that in a while if you want.

Biden: Mr. Oompa loompa, could you please help me find my way home? I live in my house.

Trump: Its the lightbulbs Biden, im actually not orange, but these antifa lightbulbs make me look that way.
And even if i was orange i would be the best orange, apricot orange. Did i tell you nobody knows more about apricots than me?

Biden: No orange thank you, can i have an apple please? Also, where are my shoes.

I'm looking forward to the RNC! I can't wait to hear from the gun-couple from St. Louis for example. Honestly I have no clue who else will be there but I read they will be :D

I find some of the people lying in wait replying to trump's posts, with the sole intention to villify him in front of his followers, just cringe. I don't like a lot of politicians and political arse lickers, but I'd never sit there waiting to ambush their posts, it's pure derangement syndrome.

He should be able to block them, none of the ones I've read are there to have a debate or put forward constructive criticism, it's just pure politically motivated hatred. They can do it on their own tweet stream [or whatever they're called] for other trump haters to read and agree; it would be better for everyone and cool the situation down in society.

saw this earlier, which is kinda related, what is it with triggered lawless losers, think they've got the right to physically attack people just because they support trump or MAGA, I don't see any clips of conservatives physically attacking biden supporters.

I watched biden's speech, it was fairly decent, well written. I still feel there is something missing, like he is tired inside, but if he can build on this, then the 'too senile' arguments won't resonate. Kamala would have to play a more active day to day roll than pence is allowed.

He is the president for the moment. Blocking people from expressing their opinions would be kinda chinese style of tactics. Then you'd only hear from pro-government opinions and nothing else. But that's what he wants of course...he wants to be a dictator where no one else's opinions matter.

But would be fun to see a society where red states live by Trump's rules and blue states live by democrats' rules. Though red states would die pretty soon since blue states are supporting them :P

It's not like most Trump supporters are ready for a decent debate. They won't accept anything negative or any constructive criticism about "their" president either.

The women in that video are obviously morons taking a hat from a kid, but like most videos it only starts at the point they react. Did something happen beforehand for them to act in that way? As usual this is just clickbait.

No they can still share their opinion on twitter, just not be trolls in his reply thread. If anyone has a reasonable civil argument to put forward, or wants to suggest something for trump/his govt to look at fine, but these people are just hanging out there to abuse him.

And who would police that what's reasonable and what's not?
If Trump did that himself...anyone who is a democrat wouldn't be reasonable...or anyone who disagrees with him wouldn't be reasonable.
He should've known how it goes when you run for a public office. I mean he was trolling Obama all the time with his birtherism non-stop when Obama was the president.

That's a self-fulfilling cycle, how do you know they won't accept constructive criticism/debate, and regardless it's still the adult way to conduct debate/disagreements.

It's not clickbait, it's just a window into real life and the insanity going on out there. It looks like they had a placard or poster, who knows what happened prior, but their behaviour is unacceptable in civilised society. Sure adults can have vocal disagreements, but a line needs to be drawn when children are present/involved, grabbing their hats off them because they're too emotionally retarded and easily triggered.

It happens all the time on twitter, people repost things that led them to be blocked by individuals. So trump could block loads of people making reasonable points but the public at large would soon learn of it, it could make it into news articles and prove he cannot accept debate or criticism.

I wouldn't have objected to obama blocking trump if that was the case but it sounds like trump was retweeting or just commenting in his own thread, not lurking in obama's reply threads?

You try posting the same hatred and loathing in boris johnson's account or any high profile person, I'm sure you'll soon get blocked?

I've seen many a "debate" on the (anti-)social media. Both sides won't budge, there is no middle of the road anymore. It's sad, really it is.

And yes, it is clickbait. Show or tell me what happened before those women snapped. I still don't condone grabbing a hat from a child mind you.

well if you mean it sends you to dan bongino's account thread then I could see your point, when I initially watched it on twitter it didn't send me to his account, only posting the tweet to here seems to have done that

On the basis of that not being your point, then any footage captured and posted by a citizen that doesn't contain all the events/actions is clickbait?

When we're led to believe that only one side is being hysterical and unreasonable I prefer to know the whole story rather than a video that might be cut by an editor who also put a logo over it, "Students for Trump" in this case.

I haven't checked this out yet [just about to] but looks like part of the backstory, I must admit I find it hard to believe you don't know this kind of behaviour from those two young women is part and parcel of the radical left and TDS merchants.

You know as well as me that pundits, be it left or right, will cherrypick whatever suits their narrative.

And excuse me but the USA doesn't even know what real radical left looks like. Their "leftist" politicians are barely left of centre if we compare to most European countries. Let's be honest about that. Sadly they do know what radical right looks like but they seem to embrace that.

Anyway, if this is the new big story it seems the R's desperately needed something to deflect from the DNC and Bannon.

Well I was meaning some of the citizens rather than the politicians, the mobs in portland attacking people for example. I can't see them being satisfied with biden and harris. Some on twitter were drawing comparisons between biden's speech, talking about bringing in light and hope etc... when the reality is yobs and mobs are a key component of the leftist movement he needs votes from.

I don't think anarchists vote either way ;) They want no government at all hence why they are occupying a part of a city and declaring authonomy from all local and federal government and authorities. If Democratic mayors and governors think this will gain them some votes they're wrong.

Violence isn't going to solve any of this but neither is sending in masked stormtroopers without badge or identification that go and round up people. That's just scary imo.

But you know that only happened because the democrat politicians stood the police down, and were just letting the lawlessness carry on right in front of them?

After the the things I saw the other night they need to get back there pronto, the local cops either cannot cope or are having their hands tied by liberals.

Like I said, this won't help them politically because the people causing the violence and disruption don't vote. Peaceful protesting is fine but violence isn't the answer.

Still, local and federal law enforcement should at all times be able to be identified and shouldn't drag people into unmarked vans and transport them to undisclosed locations. Don't you think that's scary?

Well the worse riots and civil disorder are happening in democratic strongholds.

It could be scary if journalists aren't able to question authority to find out what is occurring with the apprehended people, the public rely on them to this and then publish the story. I haven't seen CNN or NBC/ABC etc... focus on it that much, but I may have missed it.

The US is a very legal claim orientated country so if the authorities were breaking the law and had impinged on citizen's rights, I'm sure there would be a raft of cases/litigation to come.

Some good news for the UK! ...sort of. Soon US's death toll with Covid will be higher than UK's. 541 per 1milj. for the US and keeps rising steadily. 609 for the UK.
Clearly Trump deserves A++ for this and needs to be re-elected to handle the next crisis. He's pretty good at solving those :P

I mean sure...you can try scaring people with those riots and all. But Trump has killed soon over 180k americans. If US had a competent leader...wonder how many lives had been saved. I'd say 100,000 lives at least.
So 100,000 dead because of an idiot. And Fox and right-wingers are trying to scare people with riots?

In the meanwhile Pompeo with his amazing diplomatic skills gets no one to follow US's lead dealing with Iran.
Almost no one follows US's lead dealing with China either...unless China really screws it up themselves with this Hong Kong-situation etc. US is not a leader anymore in anything, but I guess that's better for the world in the long run.

Can you enlighten us to what trump needed to do differently, and how no responsibility falls on the individual states with their governors like cuomo sending ill people into care homes?

The china issue is a slow burner, even rinos and democrats are onboard, it is a geopolitical issue deeper than trump's rhetoric about unfair trade, this article is worth a read regarding how the dems may approach things if they win:

There are more than 20 references to China in the Democratic Party's 80-page platform, which features policies about how to deal with Beijing that align with Blinken and Sullivan's views.

If these planks really translate into an actual Biden foreign policy, Washington's tough stance toward China will not change.

Bonnie Glaser, a senior adviser for Asia and director of the China Power Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, does not think a Biden White House would be easier on Beijing.

"If Mr. Biden were to become president, he will not use explicit China-bashing rhetoric and tactics, as Mr. Trump has been doing," Glaser says. "But that doesn't mean Mr. Biden will soften the U.S. approach to China. China policy is one of the few policy agenda that is backed by solid bipartisan support, and the Democrats are as tough as the GOP on China," she argues.

Instead of reopening so soon...US should've had a real lockdown and Trump should've told people to wear masks instead of mocking people who wore them. Trump should've listened to scientists instead of praying for a miracle. Trump shoudn't have advertised HCQ as some kind of miracle drug and instead focused on masks/testing/social distancing. Trump is the president...40% of the people listen to what he says and follow his orders no matter how idiotic orders he tells.
You can try blaming Cuomo or whoever...but this will be a presidential election and Trump is the president. He talks to the whole nation and he should bear the responsiblity what happens in his nation.

As for China issue...it depends what Biden wants to do and what China does. I don't think EU will blindly follow what US tells them anymore. So it depends...if China keeps up doing what it is doing in Hong Kong, then EU probably will side with the US. But yeah it really depends on China. Their move I guess!

As I understand it each state was able to decide it's own level of lockdown, also when it gets lifted etc..the US has been doing a lot of testing, much more than the uk I believe.

Germany's test and isolate was probably the best early way to carry on, but not many countries have that level of attention to detail and discipline.

Maybe Trump could have done things differently/better but I'm not certain of what that would entail.

And didn't Fauci himself advise in march it wasn't necessary or helpful to wear a mask?

In the UK one of our chief doctors said the same thing, sweden's health chief scientist is still of that opinion and so are the netherlands the last time I read about it.

Fauci did that indeed. I think it was 'cause there weren't enough masks for healthcare workers so he wanted them to have masks first. But then many months went by and Trump was still mocking mask wearers and so was Herman Cain who died. As happened to many trumpsters:

And according to charts the US and the UK have done about the same amount of tests per capita. One reason for so many tests is that the virus has spread everywhere 'cause no social distancing/masks. If you didn't have so many sick people then you wouldn't need so many tests.

So it was all right for fauci to lie, do you not think people or firms could have made some of these surgical style cloth masks [not the 3m respirators etc..] if fauci had said [like he is now] that a cloth mask will help and is essential. [used a bandana or scarf even, if he'd advised it?]

Also Fauci is on video in 2017 saying a virus outbreak was coming to the US, so as he's the director of the 'National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases' perhaps he should have ordered sufficient levels of PPE to be stored?

You missed out about the netherlands mask policy?

Yeah, I wonder why the fact Herman Cain died after attending a Trump rally has been pretty much under the radar. Even on the "liberal" news channels there hasn't been that much attention for it. One can only wonder how many other folks caught the infection, were severely ill or even died after attending one of the rally's... If anything they should've done these outside with social distancing.
