I don't usually make a new year's resolution until mid january, and I learnt long ago not to give up stuff, but to do stuff. I revisit past resolutions and see how I'm doing with them.
I failed epicly with the eat more soy, but I'm doing well with the rest for the past 30 years.
Why eat more soy? More nutritious?
In case someone needs inspiration, some of my past resolutions have been:
Return phone calls from people that leave messages
Compliment strangers
I do this all the time! Especially womens hair and clothes.
Pick up trash on the street that isn't mine.
Dance more often (that was for the millenium, and I've did pretty well with that if even by myself most times)
I like this one.
Eat more vegetables
Count the empties before going to the beer store
Never turn down offer of a visit because something good is on TV
Thank the bus driver
Leave the last bite of dessert if you are full
Only two coffees with cream and sugar (sometimes fail, but a goal is good)
Recycle as much as possible (now enforced by the city)
Where I live, this is very easy...our trash man comes twice to everyones house, once to pick up trash and another man comes to pick up recycle items.
Give my kid as much money as I gift gambling
Keep a record of the fees I spend gambling online (okay, I failed that after a month last year) might be worth revisiting
Turn off the bathroom light after everyone else in the house
Even when we fail with resolutions, it's good to make them IMO, we succeed for a time at least.
