I'll do another 100,000 if that's what it takes :D

Your experiment is almost proving that it's considerably harder to hit a 500x jackpot on a low variance slot than the same 500x on a high variance one. I wasn't sure about that.

Now I'm wondering if it's as hard to hit the highest payout on Starbust than it is to hit the highest payout (4000x) on Reel Steal.

Looks like the ONLY purpose of such a low variance slot is to go through WR.

Well I can generally do 10K spins per day (that's assuming I kick it off when I get home from work and keep it going pretty much until I go to bed), although I can do more at the weekend and when I'm off work (like I am this week), so I reckon I can do 100K per week.

As such I don't think I'll get to a million before Christmas, I suppose I really should verify with someone that the win is actually on the paytable, otherwise I could never see it......

Mind you, if it's not on the paytable then the reels are a misrepresentation, since there are full stacks of bars on all five reels plus the three wilds on the middle three reels.

I'm watching Breaking Bad now. Your fault.
Just started the 2nd episode.

I was late getting started on it myself, Season 1 was released back in 2008.

I'm over halfway through Season 3 now, I swear I have never watched anything, in my entire life, either TV or film, as good as Breaking Bad.

I've got the DVD boxsets of Seasons 1-4, but Season 5 isn't completed yet, the second half of it airs next year.

Do be aware though, whilst there is some dark humour in there, on the whole it's a pretty jet-black programme, so it's not to everyone's taste.

Done that before playing nuclear 7s or atomic 8s, kept playing trying to get 3 symbols to trigger free games only to realize aftera few thousand spins there were no free games on the machine itself :eek2: i did get some nice line hits though and ended up a decent bit in-front so wasn't a total loss

NetEnt has uploaded a new video today with Starburst Touch (mobile gaming):

I never can`t win anything on this Slot...

TBH it is hard to win anything substantial on Starburst, as it's just so ridiculously low variance.

The only reason you'd want to play it is for low-risk wagering really, although even then you'd be better off using Blood Suckers as that's got a 98% RTP instead of 96.1%, and has a similar pay profile.

Starburst will sometimes kick out a good succession of wins to give you a nice raise, but you're never going to be more than about 300x your stake ahead.

Generally speaking you're doing well to get 100x your stake ahead, 200x is rare, 300x is very rare and 400x I've seen once in the 200,000 spins I've put through it.

(Note they are NOT individual wins, but the result of a succession of decent wins in a fairly short timeframe to give an overall raise expressed as a multiplication of stake.)

If you really do it with BDBA after this, it will be interesting to compare the numbers of a very high variance slot vs. a very low variance one after a large number of spins. In theory, they should come close to each other.

The problem with BDBA is that it's going to be very high maintenance compared to Starburst.

The great thing about Starburst is I can just kick it off on 1000 spins, come back to it 40 minutes later, and kick it off on another 1000 spins. It only hits its 250x stop trigger a couple of times every 100,000 spins on average.

With BDBA, I'd constantly have to intervene for the Free Spins round, which would make it a lot harder to track the number of spins I've made, and be a pain in the arse as well.

I may instead go for a very high variance single line slot, MG certainly have a few on the books, as that could be set to run in pretty much the same fashion that Starburst does, with the same 250x stop trigger.

In fact, with MG's 9999 maximum spins allowance on autoplay, I could leave the bugger going overnight and then again when I set off work :D

After a week playing NetEnt, I'm now addicted to this slot. Not sure why, as I usually like higher variance slots, but it runs so smooth and fast and it's visually appealing I guess. Even though it doesn't kick big wins, it often kicks decent ones.

One thing that I didn't expect from such a low variance slot was seeing it in a "bad mood". I've seen it going 20+ spins without giving anything back.

Doubling your starting balance seems relatively easy on this slot. That's what I'm aiming for when playing. If it works then I go play elsewhere and I go back later when I'm low on funds.

Watch yourself with it, on a bad run it'll destroy your bankroll with the ruthless efficiency of a far higher variance slot, with little or no chance of pulling the situation back with a big win.

I have over 300,000 spins worth of data on this slot remember :)

That's what I like about StarBurst and is why I use it as one of my "rescue slots"; It's not the most exciting to play, but it can increase your wealth when your balance if fading.
In one "playing session" (over many days) that I recorded at a casino a few months ago, I played Starburst on 6 separate occasions: Once I broke even, but on all of the other 5 I made profit.
Of course, this is just good luck and stopping at the right time - I'm not saying the slot is beatable long-term; if it was I would be playing it 24/7! :p

LOL the infamous video......

Starburst is the most spirit-crushingly tedious example of mind-numbing mediocrity a slot designer ever came up with IMO. Ok to you chaps if it helps burn a WR but my lord thank God for autoplay, so you can do something useful in the meantime like clean the oven or mow the lawn.

Yes I noticed that and was surprised at first as I didn't expect that. I guess that's the price to pay for having a fairly high chance to double your bankroll.

Did you give up on getting the full screen of bars? Did you get a full screen of everything else including 7's?

I must admit that I do find it exciting (but it will probably fade with time) as I see the potential of getting all 3 expanding wilds at the same time. Another thing that I wasn't expecting from a low variance slot is how frustrating it can be (like getting the expanding wilds simultaneously on reel 2 and 4 and winning nothing). I (surprisingly) got pretty upset.:eek2:

As for winning, the key words are really "knowing when to quit". Happened a few times already that it doubled my balance and then went back to my starting point in no time.
