Goodbye Netent - you're my favorite but I'm through with it

I've just wasted an evening of entertainment in one spin and this is not the first time. Meaning I just by mistake hit the max bet button for €20.
I've played thousands and thousands of hours RTG, Microgaming and Playtech and it never happened.
One thing you have to be attentive about playing Netent is you have to reset bet every single time you change game. That is if you don't prefer the preset bet which differs from casino to casino. That's annoying enough and has cost me quite a bit.

So I ask myself, why do I hit that max bet button again when I know I have to be attentive. Because the games differs a lot. With RTG fx you know where the different buttons are since they're all basically the same design.
That is not the case with Netent and when you're not familiar with one particular game it's easy to make these mistakes. Well I'm sure some have the attention and concentration capacity to deal with this or the wallet for that matter. I don't so goodbye.

lol! I had exactly the same problem with Platinum Casino! (MG) On Sunday for some weird reason I couldnt seem to deposit into any of my casinos, (the casinos just weren't excepting it) and this went on for like nearly an hour of attempts. Finally managed to make a deposit into Platinum and was so eager and hungas to gamble, just pushed spin without checking. And it was on Max:eek2: There went my $20 for the night. Was totally spewing:mad:

Mind you I probably should of taken it for a sign when I was having so much difficulties trying to deposit into any of my casinos:p

That's awful. I do feel for you. I have done the same. Not that much but enough to piss me off:mad:

What casino was it? Isn't it possible to get it back some way if you ask nice?:o
If it was Nordicbet or so...

I know you love the games. Why can't they have it set on lowest betsize, and make those rich gamblers have the problems instead?

Thanks to all of you I'm sorry you had to make the same mistakes

@realitybitez Maybe it's a sign of stress when you do these mistakes, guessing you're were a bit stressed and so was I today. I've hardly noticed that max button at MG but like Netent the games differs you don't find the buttons at exactly the same place.

@1366613 Are you kidding $500 ouch :eek2: I feel for you.

@tirilej Thanks, Good idea Tiri leave the problem to the rich gamblers lol. It was Betsafe and I've already closed my account.
I wasn't just whining I have closed my accounts at all the Netents where I want to play, except one will do that tonight. :sob:

@spoton Yes it's really annoying. Don't know if that default thing has a technical explanation or if it would be possible for netent or the casinos to change it into max lines, min bet.

Think i have read in previous threads ... (might be reading thigs :what:) that if you speak to the casino in some instances and they check your play history and can clearly see you constantly bet a much lower amount they may free chip or reverse the transaction. Worth a shot maybe

A looong time ago I made the same mistake playing video poker at Littlewoods when they were on Crypto and bet £100 on one hand! I emailed them and said what had happened, they looked at my normal gameplay and refunded the money. Worth asking if you are a regular.

Wasn't it a poll made on what stakes we would like the games to be set on when we start playing? Made of a casinorep. Forgot his name, but he was a good one;)

I see if I can find it. It was interesting I do remember that.

I remember that one, don't know about the final result but when I checked the winner was max lines, min bet.

By the way, how many times have you been asked "Are you sure you want to exit casino"
How about "Are you sure you want to choose max bet" ;)

I couldn't find it but I believe it was Plex Rep who started it, and he is sadly gone.
At least you remembered the result, that's something;)

I'm a regular and Betsafe says "this bet can not be turned back or refunded".
Thanks for the tip! @smcinoz and tirilej too :)

Yup! I was stressed alright. Nothing like trying to deposit in how many different casinos and kept coming up with 'there is a problem with this credit card transaction' or something like that for like nearly an hour before one deposit finally gets through:eek: Which reminds me I need to ring my bank. I'm sure they've locked my cards again. They do that when I do too many oversea transactions, a security thing or something:p

Wow.. thats something I didnt know!:eek2: I'd give it a shot myself but my last deposit was 2 days ago - so probably too late now:cool:

If they refunded your bet, and you posted it here which I assume you would, there are those among us that would make a beeline for the place and "accidentally" make a $100 bet and ask for a refund if they lost. It's a free $100 bet to a fraudster, and they would make a lot of bad PR all over the net if they refused to refund.

An unpopular opinion, but its the players responsibility to check their bets. Closing accounts because of YOUR mistake is very extreme. Accept your error and the consequences.....not everything in life is everyone else's fault.

I have hit spin on a much larger bet than i would ever make a number of times by accident before while playing NetEnt and it sucks.

For some reason occasionally I have glitchy play time and the reels will freeze so I have to get out and then back in to the game I was playing and after already playing the game a while then being distracted having to reload it I miss the ball and hit spin.

Any other time I always check my bet on any game before I hit spin but sometimes distractions happen and even though these distractions were casino issues, I am the one that hit the button, so I have to be responsible for that I guess.

I totally agree with Nifty that there would be people out there that do and would take advantage of this so that's probably why casinos take a hard stand.

Unfortunately, while most of us play honestly there are some scum bags out there that ruin it for everyone.

That said though, IMHO some of the bet sizes that these games are set at are crazy and I am sure the percentage of players out there never bet that high an average spin, so just what player is benefiting from having their bet size on that level? Surely not the majority of players out there.

I've accidently hit the max button on MG slots before. I'm with Nifty, its my fault for not paying attention. Just write it off as having a bad day. If you take a bonus and the casino has that max bet bonus rule they could use it to void your winning should the spin hit.

It is the players responsibility yes, and I don't think a lot of people PAB because of hitting max bet by accident. Of course the casino can't have a policy of refunding when someone hits max bet by accident, that doesn't change the fact that a lot of the casino software seems to be designed by monkeys. Pretty much all the problems could be easily avoided if the software designers or casinos had any interest in it but so far the only one that did change anything is 3Dice.

It's not even good for the casinos when someone hits max bet by accident, they get less wagering generated with a higher chance of the player hitting a big enough win to cashout.

Yes I get what you're saying and I agree it's my responsibility for sure. I can appreciate it may seem like I'm blaming Netent and closing my accounts on that ground is extreme, I agree.

I'm sure Netent didn't create their games to make gamblers accidently hit the max bet button. However there's a big difference between fx RTG and Netent as I'm sure you're well aware of.
Your choice of bet size will "remain" even if you deinstall. There's no max bet button. You will have to be very bungly to accidently play max bet.

When you play Netent you have remember to set your bet everytime you change games, not ideal imo.
Netent differs in design but for many of the games the button where you choose coin size is right next to the max bet button. If you for one moment is absent minded or excited it's easily done that you max bet instead of changing coin value.
I'm fully aware that I'm probably more absent minded than most people, but still it doesn't seem fair.
A few millimeters... and you're out ;)

I don't blame Netent and I don't believe this is intentional in any way but I think it's a flaw in construction.

I leave Netent not because I blame them for anything but because I don't have the concentration and attention abilities, a good eye-sight and a thick wallet. That's all :)

Edit: I can survive a €20 loss occasionally but I feel cheated.

Exactly I forgot about that, the games freezes occasionally and when you're trying to reload you forget everything about bet size. I mean at least I do.

Regarding the bet size I agree, if your normal betsize is €2 to €5 you will probably not experience that sort of problem.
I firmly believe that the casinos can make a difference between fraudsters and people who have made a mistake. I have played thousands and thousands of spins at Betsafe non over €1, when I accidently bet €20 one spin after being a member for two years, am I a fraudster in their eyes? The casinos have advanced instruments to check every aspects of the players behavior. Why not do it to the player's advantage, it will be in the best interest of the casino in the long run anyway.

@Nifty Someone brought to my attention that I have left out one of your arguments. If Betsafe would have given my funds back it would have opened up to other players to do the same thing.
Wow, it certainly didn't cross my mind that my "complaint" may have such implications.

Ok, I guess we're discussing different aspects. My aspect being many of the Netent games are not - besides from the rtp - not designed in the advantage of the player even if unattentionally. An additional disadvantage to the player.

Second topic of discussion I guess would be whether a casino should have the option to give funds back to a player whom by mistake or deliberately hit max bet. My answer would still be it's up to the casino and their ability to separate honest players from cheaters.

Third topic then. If Betsafe had chosen to evaluate accounts and possibly refunded my account and I would have posted that here, it may open up the scene for cheaters. This is where I'm lost. What's the argument? Pro, contra what? Please elaborate :)

I should await replies but I'm having a discussion with myself and hence replying to myself ;)

I will refrain from one of my statements. From my point of view there's nothing strange or extreme about giving up a certain software if I don't believe its design in my opinion is fair to me as a player.
It's not about me making one, two or five mistakes and losing a sum, it's all about the fairness of the game.

If a mistake left me with +2K I would have been happy and miserable. As a low roller I sometimes speculate what it would be like if I for one session would bet lets say 20x my normal bet size and win a considerable sum or maybe even a jackpot. But then again if I did I would still be miserable. That's not how I play, that's not why I play. I play for entertainment and small profits and don't you dare try to trick me into doing something else. Well you will of course but you won't succeed.

I don't get how the outcome of the game can make a difference or how the player's choice of action can make a difference. We're certainly in a grey area here. I cannot refer to the criteria for accredited casinos or certified software. Still I believe that a software should be designed in a way that gives the player maximum control of different options in every given moment.
In my opinion Netent software doesn't fulfill that.

Edit: I've had these thoughts since my first Netent session which shortly after made me quit for a year but then I got hooked on the games. This experience was simply the last straw.

Sometimes talking to yourself gives you the best answers;)

I agree with you with everything except the middle part. Not because what you say there is wrong, but because it wouldn't apply to me:)

I've been checking in to see if someone had replied, especially those who have had strong opinions about my decision. I'm sorry you didn't care to reply in a few words even though you've been present and active.
It's your prerogative surely but it's easy to be critical and throw some one liners just to disappear.
No one will notice except me and frankly it sucks.

Oops, here we have some hurt feelings.
Maybe they thought since you kept talking to yourself that the matter was over.
But since you bumped up this thread again I'm sure you will have a response:)
Be nice Emmy;)

Yes oops there are. So what's wrong with discussing the matter with myself instead of delivering pre packed opinions that I will defend to my last drop of blood. Jeez.
So two days is a bump. Jeez. Be nice Jeez.
Go back to you besserwisser friends and fuck off. Good bye.

This was the first post I read here that really made me cry.
Bye and have a nice life whatever you do:(

Such a ladylike response.

In my experience, members will respond to a thread when they feel it requires one. IMO it was done and dusted....you accidentally hit max bet and its netents fault, so you dumped them. Your perogative. Although, I don't believe for a second that you would have been sad or upset had you won $2k from that spin....that's just silly.

Tirilej, and the rest of us, didn't deserve to be told to feck off just because we hadn't made your thread our number one priority each day. It's disgraceful.

Go back to you besserwisser friends and f*** off. Good bye.

 This is uncalled for. Regardless of the circumstances it creates an atmosphere of hostility here on the forums that we cannot condone. Please take a couple days off to think of other, less caustic ways of expressing yourself.

This was really sad, especially for me and I have no clue what happened.
We have been friends since she became a member, since we are both from Sweden, and are talking all the time.

I did try to explain this matter to her, but for some reason she didn't want to let go.
I had never expected this from her, and Emmeline if you read this, please come back and talk to me.
I'll forgive you if you just explain, and I know that not solving problems, will poison your mind.
I wish you the best if you decide not to come back:)

Oh dear, that was completely out of character..

And I just know that you do not mean this ;).

There is only one possible way to remove this laid back aggression..........Swedish all girls pillow fights :D.

Pillow fight? Well, I know you would love to see that :D

Awww thank you :o, I don`t think there are many red hot blooded males here that wouldn`t want to see an all girl pillow fight tbh ;), just hope you two kiss and make up, life is way to short for fallouts with each other :(.

When you do kiss and make up, screenshots or it didn`t happen ;).

I really hope that a rep of NetEnt sees this thread and considers changing this in system of course I can see why it benefits them and the casinos that run on NetEnt. I know there are a few land based slots that have almost the same sort of set up like this as well and I have been known to hit max on accident myself. Once in Vegas I thought the Stinkin Rich slot I was playing was pennies but it was a dollar machine I lost $100.00 in the first spin!

Hello Everyone,

Happy Easter weekened to all of you!
@Bonusstreak, great point. Online casino's that have Netent as software have no control over what the default spin value but I have sent the link to this thread to the people at Netent and I hope they will take notice and change this as I agree it is annoying to default to such a high spin value.

What would be the best solution? To have the default spin at max lines and smallest coin value or 1 credit 1 line?

Thanks,

Ben

Max lines and smallest coin value imho.

You will never satisfy everyone as you could possibly have a couple of whales who are unhappy to raise their bets from max lines min bet every time they play. Whatever default bet you set it at there could be a mechanism where each player can set his own preferred default settings. This would erase problems once and for all.
