Question Could it be against the rules to up the stake when you're just about to reach a power-up?

Hi,

I'm very new to casino games. I've been playing the game "Vikings go Berzerk" by Yggdrasil. It has 4 vikings who gain power when you win with their portrait. It takes many hundreds of spins to reach the power-up. Their power-up is 7 free spins in a power-up mode, I would guesstimate that the average winning would be ~35x of one spin.

My question is: Could it be against the rules to play on the lowest stake possible while building up the power-up meter and then when a viking is just about to reach his power-up, you up the stake by like 10x? It just seems like a tough call because surely you've got to be able to change the stakes. But at the same time, it would make the casino games potentially profitable which can't be right.

Yggdrasil slots are reviewed at Casinomeister - and so are their casinos.

it wouldnt matter - the bonus averages out from all the stakes that contributed to the metres
ex - if you bet 30 then bet 90, the contribution is at 60c

Most games will do the average bet but the game wild swarm by push gaming doesn't can build the hive on 20p then once max up your stake but still can take loads of bees to open the hive so be warned :)

When microgaming released the now discontinued Batmand slot called The Dark Knight Rises it actually was possible to collect increased free spins and multiplier on a lower stake and then trigger it on a higher one. This got patched to average stake after maybe a month or something. I imagine some players could have made some money with that and of course I tried it a couple times myself as well.

I don't think that can be conclusively PROVED to work.
People betting big may have just got a lucky scratchcard.

And as you say, you could blow a fortune chasing the final feature and it could STILL be crap!
The one and only time I got it, the bloody thing only gave me bet x21

I don't believe any slot provider would be careless enough to produce a game that could be exploited in this way.
Though of course - it HAS happened before!

No you fill the hive to max which is a slot > then you start the game of swarm chasing which is a similar but slightly different slot . Doesn't rly matter at what level you filled the hive but its not like once the hive is full you are playing at positive rtp . The rtp is still 96% or w/e once the hive is full and changing your stake is just the gambler's fallacy (wow the swarm hasnt hit after 10/20/50/100 bees so it's sure to hit soon so I'll increase my stake) . There's a % chance for the swarm to activate and that % doesn't change regardless of stake or how many bees you already "collected" whilst the hive is full . That's my understanding of the game anyway
But the game before the hive is full seems to be worse overall than the game after the hive is full so you'd probably be stupid to fill the hive on max bet and then switch to minimum bet :p

As others have said, any competent slot provider will make this impossible. There may be the occasional game setups where it's possible to reduce the house edge slightly, but with the lack of transparency in most slots it's usually tough to know - and it's not like casino chat support will be able to give you a good answer. But no matter how you play, the house edge will still favor the casino unless the slot provider really screwed up.

Any game where it's possible to exploit in such an obvious manner would probably get noticed and taken down or fixed pretty quickly.

But also as others have said, there have been a couple examples where slot providers HAVE screwed this up - I'm not sure whether or not all players got paid in those cases. I'm aware of the microgaming dark knight one and the RTG one, think it was that orc/fantasy game, whatever it was called.

The most bizarre example of this question being relevant I've seen is slotland, where a couple of the games actually ENCOURAGE you to raise the bet when you're close to a feature for a better payout (not talking about the slot "Booster", just raising your stakes through normal methods when you accumulate 4/5 or whatever feature scatters). That seems to imply that such strategy is factored into the games RTP %, so you would be a fool to NOT play that way, and be playing a game with a terrible return. But at the same time, I know that some other casinos have viewed this behavior as intentionally cheating/exploiting a bug, so I just try to avoid some accumulator slots there. On one hand I don't want to accidentally exploit the games if that's possible, but neither do I want to play a game with a terrible payout. (There are some slots that look like you could accumulate at 1c on a single line then up your bet, but I haven't tried and have no intention to so I can't confirm.)

Sorry for the necro but I have another question regarding this and I didn't wanna create another topic: Are the rage meter proccs included in the RTP calculations? If so, it seems like a bad idea to even play these if you're just planning on doing a couple hundred spins, seeing as you need a couple of thousand spins to even fill the one that you get to start with on 50%.

Yeh it's a no win proposition really on this game . It will eat your money quite quickly filling the rage meter and then it will give you back some of the money you lost when you finally trigger the rage spins
I really like the actual game but this is what mostly happens unfortunately :(
I have had a 1000x+ on vikings go to hell tho so it can be worth the wait

no its not against the rules, with viking goes berzerk its allowed same as that swarming game, if the game lets you keep what yo have built up when you change stakes then its okay if its not most slots will reset the count for each stake.

Don't hold your breath on getting a major cash out from the Berzerk free spins - I had 2 separate rage meters fill up last night. The Blue Girl appeared on just one symbol in the first set of 7 free spins. In the second set with the Green Guy, he appeared on 3 symbols but over on the right hand side of the reels. Both sets of free spins failed to beat 40x.

The major money is in fluking the Ragnarok Free Spins (but that can also do you by throwing in screenfuls of coins, spin after spin).

Tread carefully (I still enjoy the game though) :)
