In typical Canadian 'all-over-the-map-weather' fashion, went from snow on the 1st, to 21 degrees today; bright, beautiful, t-shirt and shorts weather

Neighbours on the block were all out, backyard BBQs they had to haul back out, yard parties, drive-way mvovies etc

Visited sister since brother and other sister were there.

Been snowing a bit today.
Eased up a bit, but just like streamer Nick would say, "Its stiilll goooooin"

Dont mind the child getting pushed over, she had it coming.
No children were injured in the making of this video, 2 died.

That's the Kind if weather I love, Abit like me unpredictable

Weather has just decided to pack in. Summers definately been running at least a month longer for last 3 or 4 years. My whole growing up beginning of march and frosts would start. I havent even seen a frost in 2 years. Had summer snow storm. Unheard of. And random useless peice of information but end of 2019 wellington experienced quite a few thunderstorms.... They only occurred on sundays. Wtf.. People (my friends etc) think im weird for noticing these things. So i never waste my time mentioning these buzzy coincidences anymore. I think its interesting as i came across a interview where inuits had noticed the earths axis has tilted roughly 27degrees. They noticed as the hunt at night by the stars from knowledge past down by ancestors and its all changed in last 3 or 4 years. Not gradually but very sudden

It's been very dry here in the west of England, like last year from the middle of March until now it's been mainly sunny every day, but apart from 3 days without the balmy temperatures that greeted last year's lockdown date. Lawn is cracking already and soil dried out, could be heading for 4th. consecutive year with a drought period?

April was so cold and with folk having their heating on in May that they have upgraded Climate Change to Climate Emergency!
My April heating bill was higher than nearly every bill all winter. We had a bout of spring and highs of 17.
Everyone acclimated then BAM snow and rain, below 0s and low single digits so heat got cranked to compensate :(

Frostiest April on record, sunniest April on record and third driest. Lots of COLD sunshine. Now the it's Bank Holiday Monday and the first really rainy day we've seen here since first week of March so the farmers are happy at least. That's the thing in the UK - it can be dry for weeks, or months and the law states that it must be vile on Bank Holidays.

Any (Ontario) Canadian can tell ya, it's very nearly an absolute truism...it always effing rains every long weekend we have all summer :(

I doubt that farmers all over the world are happy. Reducing meat consumption by at least 90%. Not being able to use manure in future. They will not be allowed to grow veg if they farm animals. They will not be able to castrate an animal as it will be classed as sexual assault. They will not be able to kill an animal but instead they will have to let it live out its life naturally. The cost of farming an animal will run into thousands per head. This will mean that only the super rich will be able to afford to buy meat. And just imagine the cost of a lamb that dies young?
Then there is the issue of owning a pet that eats meat. In order to keep in with global emissions owners of pets will not be allowed to replace a pet that dies.
Farming as we know it is getting fucked in the name of global warming

A dehumidifier works very well if indoors, and not particularly expensive to run. Bought an air conditioner the last time we had a heatwave for about a month [2006 I think], the difference is amazing, costs more to run but worth it if the heat affects your sleep. A few hours will cool a room. I know US homes have a lot of AC but not sure if canadians go in for it the same way.

The 2-3 weeks every summer when it gets too hot here i just suffer and sleep bad like you are supposed to do.
Also im pretty sure you are not supposed to change the climate in your room, ive heard bad things about climate change.

I actually google and check what it would cost to install ac in livingroom/bedroom once or twice every summer.
But before i have time to make a decision, summer is over and we are back to 8 months of winter.
Just a couple weeks ago i was complaining about it being too hot.
Looking at the weather for the coming days it seems my whining worked.
5℃ during the night a couple days from now, just the way i like it.

Ah I never went that far, though that is the best way, my portable AC just has a 1 metre pipe you plonk out the window to exhaust all the heat and moisture, then when you're finished wheel it back into the cupboard. Cost about £129 in 2006 money, you can just stick it on and point the cold air facewards when the temps and humidity makes it feel like you're in the amazon forest, it's bliss.

I should really get something like that.
Really only need it for the bedroom those couple of days each summer when its too hot to sleep.

It does seem a lot of money, the price for new is around £300 now, you can also get ones that have a heat option for the winter. The heatwave we had in 2006/7 was air from N.africa coming across spain, it was so humid. You just felt you were melting in the evening, by 9am in the morning it was over 20c. I had a blowy fan but it didn't do much to the indoor temp, which seem to grow with each day that passed.

Winter is coming...

I hope September brings some more warmth because it has been cold this summer. September heat is also more bearable.

When do you start getting snow?

It varies, and i guess depends on what you count as getting snow.
Usually starts around October here where i live, but its rare that we get enough snow + enough cold days in a row so it stays.
Most often its just snow one day and warm (well not really warm i guess) the next so it melts away.

Some years we barely have snow on the ground for christmas, other years its already been there a month before etc.
Id say Dec-Jan-Feb is generally the best snow months here, because those are usually the coldest.

I prefer when its -5 to -10ish, because its not that cold really and the snow wont melt and make everything wet.
When it gets to be around -25ish and colder, its not as fun.
Add some wind to that and you get rosy cheeks pretty quick while outside. =)

inb4 the Canadians come and flex with their winters.

here, the rule of thumb is, by Hallowe'en we start to get snowfall

 Bloody Scots have stolen England's summer of 2021, confirmed today: ?

Here in the West of England I experienced 30/31 cloudy cool days in August, never seen anything like it as I can recall. Dry, but chilly and dull. :(
