Ray's nephews were in a coffee shop with some friends last year after school, they were sitting by the window and they saw some commotion across the parking lot. And older couple were getting into their car and some guy just walked up and started stabbing the man. The lady screamed and all these kids jumped up and ran out there - the guy who was doing the stabbing took off and a couple of them watched to see which way he went and the others called the cops and stayed with the couple.
It was a really sad story, it turned out that it was the anniversary of the couple and they'd just come from their anniversary lunch and the husband ended up dying on the way to the hospital. The guy who stabbed him was just some junkie who did it for no real reason. The kids were really shook up at having witnessed something like that, it was like 3 in the afternoon and right outside a busy strip mall - not far from Ray's store too.
Or imagine the people who were on the greyhound bus when the guy went wacko and hacked that kid's head off. Personally I'd rather sit in a bathtub full of tarantulas than have to witness something like that.

The only time I've ever been really scared to the point of sheer terror was when my girlfriend and I were living in South America. She went to the gym and about 15 minutes later I got a phone call with a guy screaming at me in Spanish that she was in the trunk of his car, described her clothes, said he was going to "put a fucking .45 in her head" if I didn't follow his instructions. I spent the next two hours being told to run from one ATM to another, withdraw money, put it in plastic bags, and throw it off my apartment balcony. They got my laptop, too. The whole time, he was saying if I hung up the phone, he would kill her. Finally when I was broke, he hung up on me. She didn't come back. I thought the connection had been lost, they thought I'd hung up, and they killed her. I waited an hour. It was the worst hour of my entire life. I don't remember ever shaking or crying like I did then, before or since. I was out of control. Finally I pulled myself together and I left to find the embassy. As I'm walking out the front door, she comes up the street in her gym clothes, like nothing happened. And actually, nothing had happened. They'd just been watching her routine, and they faked the whole thing when they knew she'd be gone to the gym for a few hours. I grabbed her and threw her in the apartment, slammed down the shutters, drank half a bottle of vodka (no joke) in a single swig, didn't feel at all drunk, and we were on a plane out of the country 24 hours later.
30,000 feet over the Caribbean and the plane lost all power.
OMG - I've heard of stuff like that. A lady that my mom knows went to Mexico on her honeymoon, they checked into the hotel and went to the hotel bar. The husband was being flirted with by some little chiquita in the bar and enjoying it too much, so she got pissed off and stormed out. A couple hours later he hadn't appeared so she went looking for him. She went into the bar and the girl was there with a couple of guys but the husband wasn't there. She went up to the people and asked where he was and they said, "Give us $25,000 and we'll tell you." She went to call the cops but the hotel people wouldn't let her, they called in their hotel security to look for him. Unfortunately in their case it wasn't fake, they found his body in some bushes under the balcony of their (4th floor) hotel room. They tried calling it a suicide until someone pointed out that his wrists were taped together and his wallet with all their traveller's checks and CCs was missing.
That's horrible . I wouldn't want to witness things like that either...
My other scary story has to do with my 2 year old Brooklyn. She was running a fever one night, and most of that day. I had given her Tylenol and Ibuprofen, but nothing seemed to help. I called her Dr. who said to just wipe her down with a cold rag and continue with the medication. So that's what I did.
She was sooo tired, so I put her in her crib and she went to sleep. About an hour later something told me to go check on her, and she was wrapped up in this fleece blanket that one of the other kids must have thrown in the crib.
I got her out of the crib, unwrapped her and immediately gave her some more meds, she was burning up. The hottest I have ever felt a kid get in my life. I couldn't find the thermometer, my husband was looking for it, and about 15 minutes go by and she is not cooling down, then all of a sudden she layed down on the bed and had a seizure. I didn't know what the hell was going on, I called 911 who took 25 minutes to get here, and when they finally did her temp was 107 . She had a febrile seizure because of her high temp.
We get the the emergency room, and the Dr. comes over and does absolutely NOTHING. Sent me home, told me to give her meds and see her PC Doc. WTF? I was so pissed, but what could I do?
She has had a few seizures since then, everytime is just so scary to me, I know that there are kids that have seizures all the time, but it still is reallly scary to watch your child go through that.
She is getting a full medical workup done on the 3rd of January, so fingers crossed that everything is fine.
You have to be so careful in some of these places. On that same trip where the plane lost power (it kicked back in after 10 seconds, lol, but we were all shitting bricks), while in South America, I was told that the business-class hotels bar locals from entrance without being accompanied by a guest, which is quite a shock considering some business hotels in the US - their bars or restaurants - are completely open to the public. Same standard operating procedure for business hotels in parts of Africa.
Don't think a lizard would scare me...but a snake would!!! I am scared of garter snakes...lmao
A few months ago my cat was playing with this gorgeous snake
