I signed up for a unibet account and within days had account restricted and source of wealth checks emails arrived.. followed all and sent information requested was refused account as although verification was done affordability checks suggested restricted the account

I had a loan with a company paid it off months ago and thought I'll take another one out to give me some spending money for my upcoming holiday

This company refused me and when requested why said affordability checks flagged up I gambled said they couldn't tell me where this information was given

How do they know this .. is the source of wealth check being used against my credit rating ?

As far as I know, casino credit checks shouldn’t show up to lenders…but who knows in this day and age. Everything has gone mad.

There are many ways of doing background checks on a player, some of those do leave a "soft footprint" on your credit file. These checks however should not affect your credit rating nor affect any loan application. Did you send any bank statements to the loan provider?

Did you sync your bank account with Experian?
If you do, to "boost" your score, this is the problem. The last 12 months of data you provided are now available to lenders.

Yeah didn't think of that. A bad move if you gamble and are after credit of any kind.

I'm afraid this is the road we're going down now though. Open banking allowing just about anyone the chance to rummage through your transactions. Eventually your credit score will be lowered if you don't allow open banking I reckon. It's not right is it when you stop and think about it. Financial information/transactions have always been regarded as personal and private until very recently.

To be honest Unibet does a good job. Why would you lend money in order to play slots?
I can actually understand the credit argument to an extent but when people go to work and personally earn their own cash, they should be free to spend that cash how they see fit...whether they want to spend their last £10 on gambling or bread, milk and vegetables.

People should have the right to complete financial autonomy, assuming what they possess is not the proceeds of crime, obviously.

Besides all of this, what makes you think he wants money to gamble with? He clearly stated he wanted extra funds for a holiday, the gambling transactions he does have could be few and far between and from a couple of months ago, not that it's any of our business of course?

Bit scary reading this, all the more reason not to share too much data with casinos despite their assurances that it will remain
confidential, seems the system is leaky either through the data sent or credit checks.
God knows how we have reached this stage, so much intrusion just to have a gamble

we have reached this stage because there is no more privacy its all big brother, its easy saying its the UKGC how can it be when each casino works in a different way towards SOW/SOF how come one casino you deposit say £100 a week and get hit by SOF and another you deposit £500 a month and get nothing ??? both uk licensed casinos,oh well it will only get worse i already know quite a few people that have packed in playing online, just no fun anymore

when Unibet ask me for deposit limit I sad £1000 a month they got wrong to £1000 a day they call me back they sad if you want £1000 a day deposit limit we need to do SOW check, now they got it right £1000 a month, i dont think Casino can do credit scoring maybe something on your bank statement

I had same problem with Rizk and WHG they keep my data and both my accounts I ask to be closed, I am going to take them to court soon, even if you ask to close your account they dont close it they just make account self-excluded that mean account is not close and they have rights to hold your Data

I am sure they are legally obliged to close the accounts if you request it, Account closure and self exclusion are totally separate options.
If they self exclude you it applies to all casinos in the group and can cause problems later

I never ask for self exclude they just add them self and they refusing to close my account, they just going to hold my accounts for self exclude for 5 years, I know a stream got one of casinos to court for refusing to close his account he won so I am going to do same think

They can, and have been doing for some time, should only show as a soft search, but they are definitely looking at credit files, for AML and affordability depending on the casino but as someone else mentioned if you have signed up for open banking your data is being shared to a lot more people, many you might not know.

It's happening as we speak already. I have a few clients who run a business for over 14 years. They had a letter stating that the bank has to follow law etc and pretty much they have to explain all their busines activities, and if possible or required deliver documentation on things like a license.

The questions where really stupid, like, "Youve recieved over the year 2018 to 2019 more then 230.000 euro's from Uber eats. Can you explain what this was for?" ... Like it's super obvious they sell using uber eats obviously, the bank just plain stupid to understand someone is outsourcing their delivery basis to uber eats.

Or; i had a client who send me a payment once from Belgium to my bank in The Netherlands. 3 weeks passed by, no money. Finally my bank called, they said "We've seen this transaction and we have some questions about it" etc etc... I explained that it was a business transactions for internet purposes (like marketing and such) and i had to give up the client(s) details.

The client on the other hand had to email any of the email correspondence and / or invoice that ive initially send. Guess what. She appearantly have recieved a payment from someone else who's on such a list of for example terrorism or laundry and because of that we all suddenly got suspected.

I mean try to open a website in adult these days where you would need a CC as a payment provider. There's hardly any party thats willing to work with "high risk" business. Its just nonsense. In Holland, when you pass the street with i think more then 2000 cash and you cant declare it it's considered crime money. They are rapidly closing as much as ATM's as possible because they keep getting blown up.

Nah. Its all about a larger future and plan. Cash-free society. More tax.

More likely, its in your bank statements the amount of times ya use the casino. I 've seen numberous Finance Companies that state if you use online casinos alot, most likely they will turn you down. Im not sure if they check your banks income/outgoings when doing a credit check but I would assume so. One Finance Company I used wanted printed out bank statements and went through them line by line. AT the time, I wasnt a gambler so it really didnt bother me

They are soft checks and they do not affect your score however they do show on your credit report so I guess a bank or whoever doing a credit check they can see that there has been a credit check by casinos. This is terrible. Millions gamble or we wouldn't have all these land-based or online casinos. Companies need to stop treating all gamblers as if they have an addiction. I agree everything is f up and the world has gone mad.

I regularly take out loans and pay them back regularly. I have no late payments. I play in many casinos with small amounts and the casinos regularly do soft checks on my credit file.I know this because the credit agency immediately informs me when I have a soft or hard demand. But this has no influence on the lender when I want to take a loan.I have several bank accounts and I link only the one where I receive my salary and do not play through it in casinos.Soft checks apparently don't sway lenders.

Ive got great credit. Unfortunately our country Finance Lenders seem to have a new policy, if thy see online casinos on your bsnk statements, you will be declined😫. Its in their terms. Some shops even have huge signs outside them stating this😢. Maybe its a trend thats spreading all over the world?🤔

I'm willing to guess that the powerful people who make large donations to whichever political party forms your government (not just 'you' but a lot of our governments) also has a portfolio of businesses that include some form of land based gambling establishment, such as a casino or three.) And whatever hurdles that can be put in our way as punters such as alleged 'proceeds of crime funds' and 'SOW checks' are just BS to protect their business interests.
