Official Videoslots presents Battle of Slots!

1 reward in 1 hour and ten minutes due to this bullshit. Its the amount of time wasted for such pathetic rewards that pisses me off. Constantly clicking and refreshing the pages because battles are NOT starting etc, really grinds my gears.

Bottom line is the servers are made out of toilet roll and Videoslots refuse to upgrade to Strong Kitchen tea towel servers. As long as they refuse to fork out the money needed to fix this issue, Then nothing will change and i will see you on thursday for the same shit all over again

Rant over!

I feel the only way around this is to have a series of scheduled battles that you register for in advance. Any battle promotion that involves trying to squeeze into as many as possible within a timeframe simply causes the site to fall over. This Blitz solution has told us what we already know.

Either that or stick to 10+30 man battles(or both 30 or introduce 45/60 man too) and see how that goes for the 6 mins for Blitz, because at the least we know one of the issues was having 2x10 man on the off which produces a lot of battles to compete to join.

Another crazy idea is that they could upgrade their servers to meet demand.
Imo the problem is not the amount of traffic the site receives, the problem is that their site is not equipped to handle the amount of traffic it receives.

If it was that easy do you think VS wouldn’t have done that already?

I just want to know the theory behind this. It makes no sense. They struggle with the frenzy. So lets have two games on shorter timescales which turnover more??? Then to p£$£ people right off these 6 minutes battle times are not going to happen because 1- the games are set at higher lengths now and 2 - the queueing system kicks in making it a disgraceful wait at times for the next one. Then lets have the standard crash at about an hour 30 in and difficulties even registering. World class.

Also when are they getting jammin jars 2?

Agree with part of it, changes could be made that don't require upgrading the servers.

For example, every time you click on a battle there is a request made to the server to get the status of the battle and if you are eligible to register for it and most people keep clicking in different battles to refresh the status to know when they can register again.

From my point of view (I'm a web developer) what could be done to improve the performance is to shift some of the work to the client side, for the special battles, like the blitz, mystery fridays, battle weekends or whatever, just store the latest joined battle in cache and open a socket to the server as a listener for when the battle close the client would receive the notification and the site on the client side would allow him to register again.

Then at the moment of the registration, the eligibility of the player could be double-checked.

This wouldn't require much work as there is something like that already implemented, the site on the client side already got a notification when the battle is officially closed (after assigning the places and the rewards), they could just trigger a new event when the battle goes from the state "in progress" to "Calculating rewards".

About what other people are commenting about increasing the number of players per battle, it could help the server as it doesn't have to generate so many battles but I don't think it would solve the issue.

But well, without any real insight about the root of the issue it's also hard to give an accurate answer.

988th in queue now, what gets me is suggestions have been made like 60 man or 90 man but they dont even bother trying it out out as this suits them they giving out less rewards

Maybe they would, maybe not.
Since people (me included) keep coming back even tho the battles have been a mess for several years at this point they dont really have much incentive to pour in money to get it working.

There was a time back when dinosaurs roamed the earth that the battles ran smoothly 99% of the time, if the problems are not caused by the increased amount of traffic, what else has changed since the time it worked just fine?

I’m not an expert on this. Increased traffic however can cause problems in multiple levels. 1. Bandwith, 2. Server CPU(as you suggest) 3. Database overload, 4. Code problems. I guess there can be more.

What I don't get is they've already solved the problem of figuring out when you can register for your next battle, at least on the mobile version of the Battle Lobby. At the bottom of the lobby there's a list of your battles and the time remaining. If they could implement it on the computer battle lobby, I think it could go a long way to reducing the extra clicks (taking away the bottom two sort bar options at the top of the battle lobby, would be a great place for it).

You can register earlier.
Basically, the battles have at least the following states: Registering, In Progress, Calculating, Finished.
When you join a battle and it's In Progress, your Register button will either be "Closed" (Grey), "Resume" (Green), or "Finished" (Black).

The Closed button happens when you are playing a battle, and you click in a different lobby.
The Resume is when you click in your lobby and still have spins to do.
And the Finished is when you click in your lobby but you have done your spins.

So, if you click in your lobby or in this case, in the mobile version if you see finished, it doesn't mean that the lobby is closed as there are other players with spins to do.

How the registration is coded is that as soon as your lobby goes into the calculating you can already register in another lobby, you don't need for the server to give away the rewards, but you just receive the notification that the battle ended when all the calculations are done, thus why people keep clicking from battle to battle to check if they can register again.

To add an extra bit of complexity, that time remaining is until the battle ends, but sometimes, if the players do their spins quickly and there are a few minutes remaining but no one has any spin to do, the lobby will close earlier allowing the players to register before the intended closure of the battle.

So, from my point of view, they could add some extra code where they will keep track of the registered battles in the player's browser in order to avoid excessive requests to the server when the player is clicking on different battles and send a trigger to the player client when the battle moves from "In Progress" to "Calculation", then the site on the players computer could allow the registration again and just do a double check in the server side that the player can indeed register to the battle, avoiding a new request to the server plus the checks it has to do to check if the player can register every time the player is clicking in different battles.

Scrap the lot!! Just give us a 48 hour at the end of the month and put all games back on default rtp.

Scrap monday, thursday and Mystery friday as lets face it, The only mystery is wether its going to work or not.
Scrap clash of spins and the chase.
Scrap filling the site with games that dont get played.

Simple
That will get rid of 99% of glitches

Or put money on servers so they can take more players and klicks and so on. I dont know, i mean the feeling of hopelessness is close😵‍💫

It was just a suggestion, wasn't really looking for an explanation. From where I sit, Videoslots is hiding the information most players are looking for behind several clicks. If they could put the pertinent info upfront (like they've already have on the mobile site), it could reduce the number of inquiries to the server, and maybe freeing up resources.

@Team.Videoslots something shady going on in 500e Zilliard King freeroll.
As you see main lobby looks like it's full but when you check the battle lobby there is only some 1800 players atm.
Tried to register but battle says it's full. i can't believe it's really full at this time battles are never full
