Like spinuk said though, the strategy of creating a medium variance slot that provides the illusion that those mega wins are possible has probably been a successful strategy for some. I might put immortal romance in that category, but it looks like at least occasionally people are actually hitting those 4 reel wild desires.

Thought it must have been a betslip bet.

Tho technically if they played the 80 spins and added the £1.60 betslip stake to reach the win it is only 113x bet. But guess it would be nearly 10000x if you only count the last 20p spin.

9.936 x bet in Scudamore’s Super Stakes, but how? 4900x on the reels then 5000x on the bonus in a single spin, betting slip? seems impossible

It's the bet slip feature. I used to abuse it in the casino races on one site because if you bet €8 on Jacks and bet at €1 (which was the lowest for these races), you have like a 50/50 to get a 16x win every 20 spins. So if you buy the most expensive bet slips possible, you could easily produce 1000x's on demand. It also messes up the slot tracker and gives Scudamore (and NetEnt in general to some extent) a much higher RTP than it really has, because it neglects the bet slip cost for some reason.
