Hi all,

I have been gambling with Talksportbet for around a month now with no issues. My account is fully verified.

They have today closed my account because of a previous self exclusion. Not only this, they have refused to pay out “profit” because I have already withdrawn my deposits, as I have “circumvented exclusion”. I have never ever used this site before, I have never self excluded from a betting company before. They claim that the self exclusion exists with BetVictor, a company in their business group, which is a site I have never used to my knowledge (not in the last 4 years anyway). keep track of all my betting activity.

What is my best bet to resolve this? What are my rights? I have created a case on Resolver as I am struggling to communicate with their live chat/through email.

The amount of money in the account is around £2,500, so is a significant amount of money. If I had self excluded, I could perhaps take this on the chin. But I am so confident that I haven’t.

I have signed up with my full name, my full address etc and my account was verified.

Just FYI this issue used to occur a lot with shared licenses, the main issue was a player would be able to deposit as one name would not know (deliberately??) who was excluded from other name(s) under the same license. So inevitably players would be allowed to deposit, lose and would be none the wiser but of course when they withdrew miraculously this fact would be spotted and used as a reason to not pay winnings and return deposits. So they would break even on winners and profit from losing accounts, a perfect no-risk business model.

To be fair much of this has been ironed out and the terms of shared-license casinos will often mention other sites under the license and warn not to attempt to play if you have self-excluded from another in that list, although I'm not sure if the UKGC have stipulated this must appear in the terms yet - they should have by now IMO.
