Strictly Movies

Evening all.
Just watching ‘death wish 4’
What a superb and almost forgotten franchise!..
utterly immense!..
Charles Bronson is great throughout all his murderous ways.
Totally agree with him also.
Could do with a bronson with the likes of antifa, even labour supporters!.

Was that really necessary? Please don't produce a bad vibe in this thread. Thanks!

Was tongue in cheek, I’ve never invited hatred or violence on here since I’ve been a member.
Can’t a man have a joke anymore in this day and age?...
this is a movie thread now tarnished with political correctness insanity...

I love superhero movies and never forgetting Christopher Reeve as superman :)

I can't believe this one was in 1978, so many moons ago :eek2:

Uhm, it was a great year and not that long ago ok :D

:eek2:

The main reason I don't post in here very often now is because on one hand this site gives the impression of being so PC while employing a guy to police us who's antiquated views have been posted for years without ever getting censored. Instead he is lorded by a few

Eh? Max? :what:

I was half joking.

@Playford7 - of course I know you made this in jest - but since nearly 40% of our members are from the UK, there is a good chance there are folks here who are lefties. And I just didn't want a bad vibe to infiltrate the thread. No worries.

@geordiecolin Dunover is not an employee - Max is - that's what I was joking about. :p

What??? I had to leave my National Action coffee morning early for this? :what:

I think he means 'lauded' by a few.

Obviously I missed the requirement of having the 'little red book' on my person at all times. :)

Assuming GC refers to me, I admit I don't prescribe to the antiquated and extremist anti-Semitic 1970's throwback Corbyn and his cronies, although judging by the latest election results nor do 72% of the other Britons.

If that makes me a lesser person or renders me incapable of knowing right from wrong, I do apologize profusely.

Sorry, Canadians have international rights on profuse apologies; you may however apologize moderately. Again, humblest, sincerest and most profuse apologies. Carry on.
If you wish.
Sorry.

There a couple posts mentioning Cruise in sci-fi fare (seen them all)
I've not seen too many good sci fi movies out this past year or 2 unless theyve slipped under my radar....even googling sci-fi movies mostly pulls up comic book flicks

@everyone - you'll be happy to note that the new upcoming forum will have the Meister Clubs (like we had years ago) where senior members can create their own groups where you can be a non PC as you like - just so it's private. :D

On one hand it's funny to see so many crossed wires and the other sad that freedom of speech can be limited.......Not either are a declaration of my view on this thread but an example of how differently viewed the written word can be. It's all in the eye and how our minds read. I have stopped communicating by text with my ex because it's the worst form of communication and our views of each other don't lend well to interpretation. It's good to be mindful of this when reading text from different walks of life :)

thank gods for smilies

The Japanese & Koreans do the best horror - fact. I don't think there exists the perfect ultimate horror film, but for psychological shenanigans their output is unrivalled.

They had a purple patch in the early '00s where seemingly every film was good. But for simple starters you need look no further than Ringu or Juon. Dark Water is also good.

Most recent Asian film I'd seen was The Wailing, which was superb

Ah, The Wailing -- Great film

There are of a lot of great films from various Asian countries, some of my favorites:

Ong-Bak: The Thai Warrior (2003)
The Raid: Redemption (2011)
Old Boy (2003)
The World of Kanako (2014)
Shutter (2004)
Last Life in the Universe (2003)
Spirited Away (2001)
I Saw the Devil (2010)
Love Exposure (2008)

Just a small list of awesome films. These days I mostly choose a film from the east over Hollywood any day of the week.

I’m a fan of old school horror, here are a few recommendations...
1. The fog
2. Creepshow 1/2
3. Pumpkin head
4. Monster squad
5. Cujo
6. The beyond
Obviously we have the likes of evil dead, elm st etc.. but above are a few hidden gems for your entertainment :)
'Society' was playing in the background on the Horror Channel just the other day, a film I'm sure you'd appreciate :D

Me meanwhile, still feel absolutely sick :eek2:

Some great, great films already mentioned on this thread.

My all time personal favourite film, and one which I have watched a ridiculous number of times is Groundhog Day with Bill Murray. When I was a lot younger I had the same idea for a book, about someone who wakes up every morning and it’s always the same day. I was really excited when I first saw the trailer, mainly because of the idea but also because Bill Murray is in it. Such a great film.

At number 2 on my list is As Good as it Gets with Jack Nicholson, Greg Kinnear and Helen Hunt. This is another film I have watched a stupid number of times. All three of the main actors are brilliant in it and the all too familiar story of redemption is pulled off masterfully by Jack.

I’m also a huge fan of A.I. Artificial Intelligence and Bicentennial Man, both featuring Robin Williams, but not for that reason. They’re just both ace films.

To round off my top 5, I’ll go with Saving Private Ryan with Tom Hanks. Yet another film I can watch time and time again - and have.

@ternur i love Ong-Bak and my little girl loves the beginning where they climb the tree and made me play it over and over. Im a fan of anything with Tony Jar.

@SteveBr As Good as it Gets is a great feel good movie. Have you seen the bucket list and one flew over the cuckoo's nest? Jack is a great actor.

Just settled down to watch Smokey and the Bandit 2 on ITV4....perfect bank holiday film

Yes I’ve seen both of those films and you’re right, he is great in any role. One Flew over would be in my top 10 films actually. Morgan Freeman, who he starred with in Bucket List is in there too with The Shawshank Redemption.

I wasn’t at all intending any bad vibe, was just the closing comment to my movie thoughts was all mate.
No problems and forgotten about :-)

‘In the mouth or madness’ a John carpenter classic, watched it again for the first time in years on YouTube.
Quality was excellent as was the sound.
Sam neill’s performance was excellent.
Great movie

It’s as creepy as hell Mina lol!...
and Wes craven is excellent!..
I had to watch ‘in the mouth of madness’ during the day, I’m a big wuss lol.
Enjoy :-)

Just watching ‘jaws 2’
I do find this nostalgic and also pretty enjoyable.
The mysterious vibe of the first jaws won’t ever of returned, but it’s a classic for a pre 1980’s sequel.
Love the 70’s and 80’s for movies.
We have had some absolute classics.

I watched them all a few weeks ago. Was going to post a scene video but decided against it.

Saw this again late last night -

Not only one of the greatest films of all time, but surely one of cinema's greatest scenes. More remarkable given that he improvised the speech from the original text

I was watching a movie review and I remembered something. I am curious, have you ever slept during a movie (in a cinema, not at home)?

I admit it happened to me once. It was my first and only attempt to watch 2 movies back to back. The second one was Captain Corelli's Mandolin ....zzz!:oops::oops:

even on a bus/train/plane, i have to sleep in the lotus position, my back on the bottom of the seat, my folded legs n the seat in front of me in a weird l shape > _|

Plane, helicopter, boat...
