I love weird movies.

My favourites are all David Lynch fims: top 3 are probably Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet and Wild at Heart.

@mariafbb also listed some great films, esp. Nolan's The Dark Knight (the whole trilogy is great) and anything Tarantino (my fav. is Reservoir Dogs).

I'm also a big fan of movies like Fallling Down, Barton Fink and so on. The list is long.

Wow you have a really good list there, I will make a notes of all the movies to watch which I have not seen yet :)

Weird movies are good too :)

Falling down was good, is that with Michael Douglas?

I read a lot - online and books - so my movie fare is generally brain candy; super-hero shtuff, fantasy, sci-fi and things that go boom! I don't go to theatres because I'd probably strangle other patrons who talked during them.

If you asked me as a kid I would say my fav movie is The Sound of Music.
If you asked me at college I would say Pulp Fiction.
If you asked me in the army I would say The Matrix.

Now I can't choose just one. There are so many I love I could be forgetting even one of my top 10. :)

I love clever plot twists (The others, The Usual Suspects, The Sixth Sense) and hate stupid ones.
I don't like crazy and dreams (I like Inception though), or when the good ones die.

Edit: The most anticipated one ATM is of course Avengers Endgame because I can't wait to see how they are going to save half the universe.

My favourite film ever is the good the bad and the ugly. Not that original I know but it’s so well directed and then one of the best soundtracks ever.

Most underrated film I ever saw was when video players started to appear and a friend hired a couple of movies years ago. It’s was called the silent partner. If you like a good plot it should appeal. Apologies if it’s not that great it was about 35 years ago and I haven’t watched it since (will do though now I remembered it).

Also I like the Godfather trilogy and Inglorious basterds amongst others.

Old movies I am a fan of as well as new ones
In all seriousness Erin Brockovich is my favourite film

Now that was a good movie, I really enjoyed it with Julia Roberts I believe :)

The Sixth Sense that was a very clever movie and great actor Bruce Willis he is amazing :D

Sound of Music who would not like that, I would watch it again and Matrix seen all of them and loved it

I love the dollars trilogy, the same actors pop up in different bandit roles but it's so well done that it doesn't jar, apparently leone was going to do a film on either the battles of stalingrad or leningrad which I'm sure would've been epic.

'Where eagles dare' is a classic the first time you see it, and 'the wild bunch' is an intense film, definitely worth watching.

So many great films, also including from the black and white era...but not sure mainstream films today are as groundbreaking or interesting generally in comparison. The good directors like ridley scott are still capable of bringing some magic to the screen, blackhawk down was a good modern war/action movie.

My problem with a lot of modern day movies is the amount of cg that’s used to hide the atrocious acting and terrible dialogue. A few other classics of course Braveheart, Last of the mohicans,Dr zhivago and Fiddler on the roof.

No Country For Old Men is one of the best modern films in recent memory, Coen Brothers at their peak. Tarantino also knocks it out of the park pretty much every time, with notable recent classics being Inglorious Bastards & Django Unchained

I like Harsh Times with Christian Bale, underrated classic

Can't believe how good Lars von Trier films are, Dancer in the Dark made me sob like a little girl, Antichrist and err Nymphomaniac less so :eek2: but the guy's one of the last few visionaries. The day he puts out Amy Shumer comedies I think I'll shoot myself

Goodfellas/ Casino, two of the greatest movies ever made, I think personally Casino edges it for me but that debate will rumble on into eternity

Gladiator is one of the most complete films ever made and a bona fide classic, it absolutely doesn't need a sequel because as we know they'll f*ck it up and tarnish the memories of the first one, but that's showbiz!

The Nolan Batman trilogy will never be bettered, Batman Begins being my personal choice of the three, Inception et al are good, but his standout moment was still Memento for me

Too many films to list without this becoming This Is Your Life. But ultimately the film I'm most looking forward to is the Dumbo reboot with Danny deVito :eek:

Ahh yes Heat, the first film where DeNiro and Pacino actually shared screentime, albeit about 11.3 seconds :p

I suppose at this juncture it would be sacrilege not to mention Scarface, yer cockaroacha :D and Serpico, one of Pacino's earlier roles but standout acting where you could see he was destined for greatness. If you can get past the earrings and '70s hair

Movies I can watch a kajillion times and never tire of them:

"Some Like it Hot"
"Psycho"
"North by NorthWest"
Almost anything by Wes Anderson.
Almost anything by the Coen bros.
"Life of Brian" (our official Easter movie)

Just an FYI - we plan on upgrading the forum in the next few weeks which will enable members to create your own "Groups" for discussing and sharing whatever - sort of like what we had in the forum of yore. Meister Clubs lol. Would be cool to see some film buff clubs.

I'll be damned if the shower scene from Psycho still doesn't scare the shit out of me, though only bettered by the detective at the top of the stairs who gets ambushed at the end.

Angles. It's all about the angles :eek2:
