Whats next after the statues are all removed? What will be the next to go? Are all the history books going to be rewritten with any people considered unsavoury in today's climate removed from them?
Were will the stopping point be?
Do we go after the families of people who made their fortunes in the past when the world was a different place?
I don't know the answers. I do know that for me it wouldnt have mattered whether George Floyd was black, white, yellow, green, orange or any colour what happened to him was wrong, it shouldnt have happened and no death at the hands of the people who are meant to protect us is acceptable, with the exception of if it is to protect their own life.

I would argue about the painting abilities!

you can teach a 11 year old about World War 2 without going into the “final solution” - people can learn that when they’re older.

If the schools just teach a version of history that is sugarcoated, the amount of people who will bother to learn the real/full history will be rather small.

Depends on where you go TBH. A lot of the estates tried to move on from the murals of the past which were all paramilitary related. They painted new murals, mostly neutral, but some have moved back to the old style, particularly the loyalist estates.
On the Falls they have a mural dedicated to George Floyd, I think they see this as a " shared struggle", though personally I don't see the connection.

Most of them are still there mate they have now become tourists attractions black taxis/coaches etc.
We don’t have to worry about the snowflake brigade wiping these from history.

Was also livid about Cummings flouting lockdown putting a middle finger up to everyone who adhered and didn’t see there family’s. You seem very pro police, I for one am not anti police there are good and bad in every walk of life, my dad May feel differently having been abused racially by the police many times and stopped unlawfully for just being black, I don’t agree with the trashing things but if you look at that video in Bristol the majority of the people throwing the statue were Caucasian, also the people in London who attacked police and the police horse were again Caucasian. I just don’t believe your livid because of protests it’s deeper than that for you. Would you be as livid if they were white? Do you not believe things have to

How does it erase history any more than teaching just the good parts of it?
The things Francis did still happened even if the statues are removed.
People can still read about it, actually not a single thing about the history of Francis is erased.
It all still happened, and anyone interested can still find out about it.

I think its weirder to fight to save all the shitty statues of confederate assholes or slave traders.

I would absolutely be just as livid if they were white, to be fair a lot of those violent idiots were white!! No one has the right to attack property, the Police and people, black white or anywhere in between.

I’m for sugar coating to a certain degree. Protect the young as what you learn and impacts you when growing up into the person you become. You can learn about war for territory without learning about war because of religion.

I’m not for PC generally.

Somehow i think the people upset about "the history being erased" would still be upset if it was the government removing the statues.

There has been more written about Hitler than probably anyone else in recent history,the good (could paint
a bit, was a fantasic speaker) and the bad (psychotic anti semitist,mass murderer and rubbish commander),
Every aspect of his life has been covered it great detail including some rather disgusting sexual practices.
No one could ever condone erecting a statue to him and its right that at the right age kids should be taught
about him, as a warning if nothing else.
See the residents of Dorset are going apeshit over plans to remove Baden Powell,due to Nazi and racist views.
Hope they dont look at our Royal family too closely.
