I know this should be in its own section "Ummadumass" Today I used dh's credit card to deposit and instead of depositing $70 I accidentally switched the code on the back with the amount so over $900 was charged...apparently the security code doesn't mean diddly b/c it still went through...unless I screwed that up too but I know I put $70 somewhere. DH was so freaked...he called them and they said it would be two weeks before they can reverse the money :eek2:....dh was not satisfied b/c he remembers the old days when cash outs could happen in 48 hours ...he doesn't play anymore so he is feeling super uneasy and called the credit card company and said to cancel the transaction ...they said they could not ...that the merchant would have to reverse it first but that they would block further transactions from them. which I dont know why they had to do that.
So my question is ...could that be thought of as a charge back? He called the casino literally seconds after we saw over $900. Seriously though NOTHING was played... I never even went past the cashier ...the crazy thing was that they knew who he was before he even gave his name lol...SO does caller ID go overseas? Whats weird too is that they said they had to close our account.
....I keep thinking "this is an accredited casino" but my heart still feels scared and sick about it.
It was my mistake, I was rushing around and not paying attention so you dont have to rag on me...I am beating myself up enough trust me.

Oh no, So Sorry but try not to worry to much. I am sure if they are accredited you will get the money back. It should only take the same amount of time as a withdraw I would think. I did that once with Davinci's Gold for 500.00 back when USA was allowed to play and we could use neteller. Luckily for me I had it back in my account the same day....ahh the good old days!
Good luck and try not to stress i am sure you will get the money back

Thank you...actually dh said it wasnt two weeks it was "up to 28 days but more than likely 2 weeks"

and AMEN about "ahh the good old days" lol

f you used some one elses cc it is a ileagle act unless you are a listed user of the cc [ what does -d h stand for ]

sounds to me like a possible unauthorized charge , ??? were you a listed user of the cc ?????

lol..."DH" in the web world stands for "Dear Husband"...and YES I can use his credit cards and he can use mine...his bank account, tools, car, and I can even wear his T shirts to bed.
Its awesome that you dream of being an investigator and catching the bad guys....fortunately, for me I'm a good girl ;) Sorry there's not a whole lotta drama you can make out of that. It was a simple mistake.

no offense ment i was just responding to your post [the facts seamed skewed a bit because of the large amount and code errors ]
any way god bless and good luck sorting it out '

again just responding to the OP THIS PART [he doesn't play anymore so he is feeling super uneasy and called the credit card company and said to cancel the transaction ...they said they could not ...that the merchant would have to reverse it first but that they would block further transactions from them. which I dont know why they had to do that.

Sorry to be cocky...I have been dealing with sleep deprivation and it makes me feisty :) I would much rather be friends than fight or argue with anyone :)
The casino really could see that it was a mistake b/c the amount was in fact the number on the back of the card...unfortunately for us they dont put the same amount on our statement that we actually pay...its usually a few cents off....so it may sound hokey to the bank

Rocky actually has a good point.
If the casino account is in your name, and the credit card used, is in his name, that could very well be the reason the casino closed the account.
Why the cc company thought it would be needed to stop any further transactions on the card, I dunno, unless you asked for it.

Thats interesting. I thought you couldn't use someone elses credit card on your casino account anyway if the casino account is under your name?

If one can do, I would of let my brother slam some money into my account with his CC... hehe:p

You can, but its a no no, you will quicky be found out and kicked or have your winnings denied.

Wanda, who's name was the casino account in? and who's name was on the card?

So you had put the ccv number were the amount to deposit is? then you still must have put the ccv in the right spot also otherwise the transaction should have failed.

I highly suggest you do not do a charge back as this will lead to a lot of future trouble should you decide to play else where. Your best bet is to wait till the casino returns the deposit or make a withdrawal should they open the account again, the only problem is we need those two questions above answered, because if it is the case that the casino account was in your name but cc in dh then you could be in more trouble again.

We have both played for so many years (over 10) on so many different computers in sooo many casinos that its a toss up as to whose account is in whose name. It used to not matter in the old days b/c we used payment methods other than credit cards. But we make darn sure we are in good standing before we play.... we always check via live chat at any casino to make sure we dont duplicate accounts on new computers and even take a screen shot to cover our butts. We did this at this casino...actually they asked me to close my account and re-open one in dh's name b/c his name was the one on the card we were going to use...I assume it does not matter that I am an authorized user...b/c they said the account would need to be in the name that is on the card.... and they gave us a link to re-open an account...which we did and seconds later I screwed up the deposit.

Do not get me wrong, they gave me no real reason to be concerned ...from what dh said the casino was very sweet about it, but he doesn't ask enough questions lol they didn't treat us like criminals, they were very understanding...it was obvious what happened and it happened in seconds... its not like I played and then had buyers remorse lol My paranoia just comes from making such a huge mistake and it taking sooo long to get the money back...and we cant sign into the account and that freaks me out a little...but I am sure they have thier reasons...I would just like to know what they are ;) I wasn't on the phone but I believe the bank just meant that they would not let another transaction go through by the same company in case it was a shady deal...we can still use the card dh just said....think they were trying to protect us ....not sure. Dh just said our casino account is only temporarily closed ...they said we could play once all this is cleared up..still scary. That is a lot of money. We never play with more than $100 EVER...so seeing that amount really freaked me out.

Dh still jumps in and plays if I am winning a lot, he just lost interest and doesn't deposit unless I want to play and then he watches or plays a little but he doesn't get as excited as I do...unless I have won enough to have fun with...he stresses out too much when the funds are too low. He gets all grumpy and not fun to play with lol.

That's exactly what I thought but I swear I thought I put 70 somewhere...I went into panic mode... It all just went so fast...so I could honestly not tell you exactly what I put where....except that I put 9XX in the wrong spot.... We had to give them that number on the back of the card so they could credit it back so it was completely obvious what I had done. The number on the back was the number of the transaction....dont know why that is so hard to explain.

There is really no shady story...dh was being sweet was sitting right here beside me and I screwed it up...right when I showed him what I did...he called them....
What point would I have for doing this on purpose?? lol Its a big pain in the butt and kept me from playing during my very rare "me time" for about 30 minutes ....I still got to play though just had to play at a different casino :) Still playing actually. Having a blast at Aladdin!

They are super strict about whose name is on the card thats why its always good to check...I will do EVERY little thing I need to do to make sure my cash outs dont see any problems. I would die if I had a cash out and could not get it b/c of a stupid mistake I made...could you imagine??? No mater how little you would still be broken hearted.
You can easily go to live chat ...they are super helpful plus they want our money :) so they can be flexible about closing accounts...as long as you have not deposited at the casino I believe. I love the freebies so I sign up when I see a free chip :) I'm a bonus hog I guess. lol Like at this casino, I had played the free chip months ago but never deposited so we were still eligible for the welcome bonus just not the free chip b/c I used it already.

The bank have actually done you a favour by saying they have to wait for the merchant to return the money, rather than them recalling it as a chargeback. The casino also seem willing, but have erred by saying you have to wait 28 days. Surely they could just reverse the amount from their end, just like any merchant who agrees to return the customer's money. The casino are also helping you avoid the pitfalls of sharing your play with your husband by allowing you to close the account, and then open another in the same name as on the card you use. You should be doing this everywhere you play.

If you went ahead with a chargeback just to speed up the process, you would find DH's card and details blacklisted at other casinos, and since you intend to continue playing, it will be a bigger mess to clear up than the pain of waiting 28 days for the $900 to be returned by the casino concerned.

DH should not have called the bank at all, as this could cause them to figure out these are gambling transactions, and then DH's card would no longer work at any casino. If the bank decide to follow this up, get DH to tell them the merchant has agreed to return the money and then debit the correct amount for the purchase.

I think DH has overreacted due to being out of the game for some time, and expecting things to be as they were years ago before all these barriers were put in place by various governments who felt they had to dictate how adults spend their own money.

Can you not just play the original amount you intended to deposit ($100) and then hit withdraw? Much quicker than 28 days.

Or even just withdraw straight away.

Thats what I was wondering...after the fact unfortunately & now our account is temporarily closed...will call them today and see if we can do that.

You are absolutely right...every word.
I have heard the words "charge back" through this site for years...I know its a BIG no no.....so I was really worried at first when he called the bank. But you are right since the bank said to just wait for them to reverse the charge there should be no repercussions from my husbands phone call.
I still dont get why the casino closed the account ...like slotster said ...why could they not just reverse the amount that was over deposited and leave my $70 that I originally wanted to play with? Seems like they would want the business.
OMG I could not imagine being blacklisted I would be devastated! I dont get to play a lot but I love having it to look forward to when I can play. I cant imagine losing that privilege especially over a stupid mistake.

I have done EXACTLY what you did before. Fortunately for me my "code" is way more "money" than I would ever have had in the account. So I had that fleeting moment of instant death when I hit "deposit" and at the same time saw the screw up. But like I said, little red lights went off and I heard evil laughter somewhere as the bank rapidly sent back a "Denied, what are we stupid?" message...

:D
