I'm not sure this is a fair way of debating an issue, it's happened a lot in this thread, questioning the validity of a forum member's view because they also have a link to the industry, when they are simply arguing that irresponsible gambling in streams should be curtailed.
As eggs is eggs some sort of control and rules will come in if the industry doesn't self regulate the streamers, whether it be ukgc and youtube or twitch etc... saying enough's enough. In the uk it'll probably only take a few mp's to be sent a video link of extreme gambling, or someone commits suicide due to gambling losses and they're found to have all the streamer channels bookmarked on their tablet etc..
It won't matter if the majority find it entertaining and are not lead on, what influences people is a complex area, there'll be a multitude of causes but the streamers will play a part in influencing many viewers/ gamblers to experiment with high stakes. Personal responsibility is important but governing bodies can't rely on that if other factors are working actively against it in terms of influence/big wins clickbait etc..
I think dunover was sent a long list of do's and dont's by his affliate managers for his compliation videos, I'm not sure though whether there was anything about high stakes. [roulette and table games are possibly a tricky area as the stakes tend to be much higher but fewer gambles are made compared to playing a slot ] But obviously the industry is aware the streams and videos do influence the public.
If the high stakes/extreme streamer is playing with the casino's money on a 1:3 or 1:5 basis, the casino is facilitating the broadcast of irresponsible gambling in order to drive sign ups. I think it's as simple as that. Gambling is always going to cause harm, that's unavoidable but casinos and advertisers (streamers) shouldn't act in a way that will potentially increase that harm across the board.
I think if roshtein gambled on more sensible stakes, I believe most of his fans would still enjoy it for his comedic ways and personality.
Theoretically the stakes options on a slot above £2 could be locked/greyed out unless and until sufficient proof has been provided that the higher stakes can be afforded, (also periodically the checks would need to be repeated) that would be one way to reduce the big tilting sessions, though even at £2 you can lose thousands in a few hours. (and many hundreds at 40/80p
