Announcement Renaming the PAB section contest! Win $$$!!

*shrugs shoulders*..what if you broaden, while defining the scope of the PAB by way of the PA prepresenting

PAB: Parley and Arbitration (insert, board, bastion, benefit, blueprint, whatever here) seeing as a PAB isn't aways about one side getting their way (re: parley - hold a conference with the opposing side to discuss terms.) Maybe not, I'm bored lol.

Lol, off to drink beer. I'm outtie unless I've a drunken brainstorm (gods forbid)

"Professional Arbitrators B****" might not rank as well for players searching for an arbitration service. Whereas: "Player Arbitration Body" could help those looking for help with a gaming related matter.

Alternatively, there is: "Professional Arbitrators for Bettors"...

This is not easy :D

great, now you'll have max poring over them in the pub

well...moreso in the pub :D

:p Trust me, PABs are tough enough in a silent room with one's full faculties at one's disposal, the pub is definitely __not__ the place where you'll find me wading through case details and trying to separate the real issues from the obfuscating BS.

Wanted to mention that the business of getting certified by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) was a surprisingly educational process. Believe it or not I never knew that Arbitration is BIG international business and has had an increasingly important role in settling domestic and international disputes over the past 50 or so years. We are, somewhat to my surprise, part of a mature and honourable profession. In fact the EU has recently made it law that all online businesses offer links to an ADR (Alternate Dispute Resolution) service for any customer complaints that may arise (officially it's called Online Dispute Resolution, ODR).

In case anyone is wondering what we do at Casinomeister is technically called Mediation-Arbitration (Med-Arb), with a good dose of Expert Determination thrown in. How odd to find oneself nine years into a new career without even really knowing it! :O

See?? It ALL comes back to beer! Mediation Expert Arbitration Determination (MEAD). :)

It's a shame we only need a word beginning with a "B"

I do like Harry's idea though.. "Professional Arbitration Board" or even still.. Just go with Mr Meisters "Professional Arbitration Bureau"

True true. We are somewhat handicapped by only being able to use the one letter, and that the P and A cannot be moved around of course as certain words beginning with B would fit better at the beginning.

Still, I think we should go all 'street' for this one and go with Professional Arbitration Braaap

The reason for the name change is that it should look more professional. That's understandable.

Now people do have found their way to get help here no matter what it have been called. I've never understood what Pitch a bitch really mean anyway so how important is the name? And for who is it?

The only name so far that a non native English person maybe would understand is what Refilliate Casinos suggested: "Player Arbitration Body".
Or maybe not because not until now I checked what arbitration really mean:oops: I knew the meaning of it anyway and maybe others do too.
I know, it is a forum in English but we are many who are not English here.

So is it to impress the big boy's or should it be something easier? Just a few thoughts from me.

That's the vagaries of the English language - taken literally Pitch-A-Bitch means throw a female dog or throw a nasty woman. Unfortunately the latter is now illegal.

BUT bitching also means complaining, and pitch can also mean 'put to the room' i.e. a proposal. So for the purposes of a snappy and rhyming title CM used the words in the alternative context, i.e. propose a complaint. :)

So it makes perfect sense to native English speakers, but should you not be and used Google Translate you could end up thinking the English speakers have some quite strange traditions...

On a similar note, we could have Professional Arbitrator Britches.

For all them players that have been caught with their pants down :eek2:

Well, this one would be my first choice...as it looks good on paper, but yeah...kinda boring a bit.

I would rename it to:

Professional Arbitration Board

Think this would be Perfect....i'll remove the "Professional" for something else hummm......But, i'll definitely go with this one ArBitrators

I would keep it at Professional Arbitrators as you already have PAB in there ;).

Professional ArBitrators

The first 3 are a bit boring, but looks good on Paper, the last 3 are my favorite and imo more in line with the "Pitch a Bitch" term in a more Polite way:

  • Professional ArBitrary
  • Provisional Arbitration Board
  • Provisional Arbitrary Body
  • Parley Arbitrators Battle
  • Provisional Arbitrary Brawl
  • Player Arbitration Brawl

Instead of *Professional" i've added the word "Provisional" as what we do, will not be Final and Casino or players can choose to go into Courts ects.

- Pro·vi·sion·al
1.Arranged or existing for the present, possibly to be changed later, temporary, tentative.

Overall, in my humble opinion, mostly everyone forget what is a "Pitch a Bitch" .....it's a Action of complaining, going into a "Fight" a "Rant".......atleast, that's what i feel when doing so and what Bryan wanted to offer or meant when you read the Rule.......Consequently, when looking from this angle, using these new words match the old terms.....therefore, we won't have to re-write the entire website as well! ;)

Here's a few examples of what may look like these new Words of "Action" into the new Terms and Conditions which represent in a way a form of Fight.....going into "Battle" or "Brawl" vs a Casino :

  • The *Professional Arbitrators Body process is a private exchange between Casino and players
  • The Parley Arbitrational Battle process is a private exchange between Casino and players
  • The Provisional Arbitrary Brawl process is a private exchange between Casino and players
  • The Player Arbitration Brawl process is a private exchange between Casino and players
  • What happens at the end of a *Professional Arbitrators Body
  • What happens at the end of a Parley Arbitrational Battle
  • What happens at the end of a Provisional Arbitrary Brawling
  • What happens at the end of a Player Arbitration Brawl
  • Under what circumstances would my *Professional Arbitrators Body NOT be accepted.
  • Under what circumstances would my Parley Arbitrational Battle NOT be accepted
  • Under what circumstances would my Provisional Arbitrary Brawling NOT be accepted
  • Under what circumstances would my Player Arbitration Brawl NOT be accepted
  • My *Professional Arbitrators Body is taking forever to get resolved! What's the hold-up?
  • My Parley Arbitrational Battle is taking forever to get resolved! What's the hold-up?
  • My Provisional Arbitrary Brawling is taking forever to get resolved! What's the hold-up?
  • My Player Arbitration Brawl is taking forever to get resolved! What's the hold-up?
- The *Professional Arbitrators Body is what Bryan Suggested so far....i don't know, it doesn't seem right

Alright well, that was a few examples that fit the vision of PAB line of thinking, which is why my choice of "Battle" or "Brawl" represent better the old idea.....Personally, i would completely change these 3 Letters for something else.....But, i understand re-writing everything would be burdensome.

or...Perhaps in French

  • Professional Arbitre de Bataille contre un Casino!
  • Provisoire Arbitre de Bataille contre un Casino!

what about....

Ooh... Did i come up with an original suggestion?
Did I? Did I??
Lot's of fun reading the responses but hey, it's a kinda serious decision Bryan's making and I reckon BRANCH sorta describes the nature and function of that particular CM Forum department.
Donchas all agree?
Yep. I knew you would! :D

Oops.
Just found it also listed among a number of options suggested by JD
No swipe intended mate... ;)

It's definitely the 17th best suggestion we've had yet

I'd avoid 'provisional' as it seems (to me) to imply the PAB service is just a placeholder until something better or more permanent comes along.

If you wanted to imply it's the last recourse before court, I'd use 'penultimate' perhaps instead.
