Im doing something much more important.

aaa.webp

Looks like another all-nighter tomorrow! just to see some of the results
Agreed. I always find it fascinating at the beginning of an election count, just seeing which way the wind is blowing, who is going to lose their seat, and sharing in the joy, sorrow and shame that goes with elections.

Top Drawer entertainment.

Regrettably, that result is countermanded by the Millsfield vote, 12 miles away from Dixville Notch. Trump won that one with 16 votes to Biden's five.

However, check out the swing to the Dems:

Dixville Notch
2016:
Clinton 50%, Trump 25%
2020: Biden 100%, Trump 0%
Swing: D+75

Millsfield
2016: Trump 76%, Clinton 19%
2020: Trump 76%, Biden 24%
Swing: D+5

If this tend continues, Biden might just have a chance. Fingers, eyes and every other moving part crossed and double crossed.

My fellow CMers

this will be my final post and I thought making it in this thread would be the best fitting place.

For almost 6 years, CM has been among the first three sites I would open every time after starting up my laptop. It has become a larger part of my life than ever thought or intended. So, closing the door is hurting, to be honest. After all, CM is this vibrant community where we gamblers can simply be ... well ... gamblers.

With that said, I would like to profoundly thank @Casinomeister and his team for the opportunity to be part of this community. I thoroughly enjoyed being among fellow gamblers to share the good, the bad and the ugly of all things, not just gambling.

However, it wouldn't be Harry if I wouldn't have some closing arguments, so bear with me for a while, this is in no particular order:

@mack341 : This is for you, maybe you will rethink your steadfast antifa/BLM argument. You can always access the leaked documents (written by Mr T’s people) and read them in full, but this article sums them up nicely (a long read but worth your time):
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

@slotplayer : I only refer to your last mentions of Mr T of what he has achieved for the people of colour to demonstrate to you how you are still falling for his con time and again. Will do only one example as otherwise, it would take this post past a few pages’ length. You touted the First Step Act. You do know that the basis for that bill was introduced in 2015 and it never passed due to opposition in the GOP. Mr T was never for the law until some celebrities got involved and convinced him that it will be helpful for his popularity. Ever the opportunist, he jumped on it and signed it into law.
FYI, it only affects less than 10% of people in prison, so in reality, not a big achievement. In fact, all call it a "very modest" improvement. Here's a good read for it:

.

One more contentious point that was discussed in this thread. Please make the effort to read how taxes will start rising in 2021 for people making $100K or less per year with those making less than $30K/year impacted most. This was specifically written by the GOP and Mr T’s people to come into effect after the 2020 election. So, yet another CON FROM THE DON.

Mr T and protests: Quite a few here have railed against the recent protests. I urge you again to give up your social security, pension, paid medical leave, healthcare and so much more because those were all achieved via protests, in many cases a lot more violent than those in the recent past, and ....wait for it.... which were organized by the "damn libruls". I bet you will not be wanting to give those up. Hence, it would be nice of you to once acknowledge that the left political spectrum is not the evil you are trying to portray. After all, you take the achievements for granted.

Mr T and election: Well, today is the day. I have not seen any president or presidential campaign filing so many lawsuits to make it harder for people to vote, and that during a pandemic. And as Mr is perfect at projecting, his tweets of cheating etc tell you what he will be trying to do. The US has always voted the way it does today and never or very, very rarely had a big problem until of course the braggard from New York realized he is most probably on the losing end. Suddenly, all is bad. Think about that.
I posted one of his tweets a few pages back where he rails about counting votes after today. He did that because traditionally, GOP voters vote in person and those results are counted on election night. So obviously his thinking is that if he's ahead, then it should all stop. Now, it will be interesting to see how quickly he will change his mind about counting votes when he is actually behind after today. Suddenly, counting all votes will be sooooo important.

So why did I write so much about Mr T? The answer is simple. Whatever the US president and the US are doing has global ramifications. Whether we like it or not, but much of our life can be severely impacted by what the US is doing. And that is one reason (maybe the only one) why I would welcome another 4 years of Mr T. He will achieve then what he always wanted, build a wall around the US, physical and virtual, and isolate/alienate the US from the rest of the world (except other mostly dictator-led countries) and “return to the 1950s” (the latter is his wish but that won’t happen). Which in my view, will be a good thing for most of the world.

Covid-19: I can only urge everyone again to read the history of the 1918 pandemic. What is happening now is a 100% mirror, yet as usual in the past, people rarely learn from history. I would also like to point out that once the 1918 pandemic was under control (without vaccine I might add), we had the start of what was called the “Golden Era”. So think about that.

US election prediction: Biden wins (as I already predicted during the Democrat primaries), Senate goes to Democrats by a thin margin. (Although the best drama would come from a Mr T win and the Senate going to Dems, epic drama for 4 years).

In 2016, appr 100 million people did not vote. I guess that the number this year will be close to 50 million only. Two reasons why many people did not vote in 2016 – they did not like Hillary or thought Hillary had it in the bag. Mr T’s complete base voted back then, and he has not extended it substantially since. In contrast, those who stayed home because of Hillary, will not do so this time. I venture to say that the number of those motivated to coming out to vote now is much larger than what Mr T has gained in supporters in the last 4 years.

Well, would have a lot more to say and post but the time has come to say goodbye, I wish you all the best in whatever endeavours you are embarking. Most of you know where you can find me if you want to stay in touch.

Stay well and Farewell,

Harry

P.S. You can all relax now, everyone is safe from the “evil” eyeroll emojis. :D

Great post Harry, but can't you just have a week off or however long, and keep things open?

I should be taking a break now as well really, posting nearly everyday for 2 years is not sustainable without going doolally

The world is becoming a much more worrying place, lots of change and uncertainty, a real shame you feel it has to be a permanent farewell.

I know we've disagreed from time to time ;) but the spirit and character of you lives in your words, very sad this will be the last post we ever read. :(

Take care Harry. :)

Harry, i also hope you reconsider.
To the rest of you: Dibs on the eyeroll emoji if he does not.

Just one thing to add - your farewell comments have only something to do with the political rant section of the forum. At your request, I can make the Political Rants forum invisible to your account, and you can participate here as a seasoned gambler who has a lot to say about gaming - and you won't be bothered by the political BS.

Just let me know, thanks!

Yes, Harry - speaking about poor timing! We need you in the coming weeks, more than ever! You should never leave the political thread let alone this forum.

Whilst I respect your choice, please don't forget that there are lots of members (and I guess many lurkers as well) who appreciate and even admire your well-substantiated posts (I am one of them). Critical thinking and logical reasoning are paramount in these harsh times.

Take care :)

Was browsing instagram earlier. A lot of famous american actors and actresses are encouraging people to vote using their instagram accounts. In a lot of cases they do not say who they have voted for personally but their followers obviously comment in droves on the post. The amount of trump 2020 comments makes me very nervous !!

Might be a bit of help for any clock-watchers :) (though calendar-watching might be more apt for this)

These are the likely scenarios for how election night will play out in the U.S.

Well, the Russian botfarms can't vote for Trump... or can they? :eek2:

If trump takes Florida I’d say it’s in the bag.

Hell no. It'll take more than that, just have a look at the different scenario's: Florida is just a part of it.

Should've added this:

You can work out different scenario's here yourself. It's not just Florida that needs to go Trump's way.

Time will tell, the Florida result will be in the U.K. about 3am, I’ll obviously be in bed as work tomoz so will miss the excitement.

Will stay up see how long i last however.

A sad in day CM land.

All the best Harry. I hope our paths will cross again in the future.

Watching News24, and all the interviewees in the street favour Trump.

Some of their reasons are:
  • Dems want a Packed Senate
  • Dems want to make Washington DC a state, which will give them 2 Dem senators in perpetuity
  • Dems want to Make Puerto Rica a state, again which will give them another dem senator
  • There is a dislike/fear of "China Joe"... or was that "Joe China".
  • Trump is truly making America Great
  • Trump is not afraid to take a stand against the rest of the World.

In the Poll, I voted for Trump winning - and nothing I am seeing on the News at the moment looks like changing that position.

My personal view is that if Trump wins, the USA will implode in on itself, as never before in the course of history has the country been so divided.

Don’t despair. 100 million votes were cast before today. Hopefully they will get counted.
