Didn't you know, the Chosen One is a perfect 10 and is never to be criticized.

But he ordered to have his full name on the stimulus paper checks which will be sent out to millions of Americans in the next few weeks. That has never been the case ever in the history of the USA but you can see where he has his priorities. ....Not to forget, that it will probably cost a few million to change printing plates, software code etc etc.

The USA most definitely on the way to become a Banana Republic. On that one, Mr T indeed is a perfect 10. :D

Who wouldnt want to wait a little extra for such an important thing.

One of the best comments I have ever read regarding Trump and his spiteful, petty, belittling, dishonourable, twitterstorm behaviour:

It's like watching an Americanised version of Mr Bean.

In other news,

Mr T halting funding for the WHO yesterday, yet it turns out the US funded coronavirus research at the Wuhan lab what many people theorize to be a possible source of COVID-19.

So, what was in it for the US??? They never do anything for charity or without a benefit to them.

I watched a bit of trump arguing with a female reporter, not sure if it was the confrontation the media highlighted the other day, I only saw about a minute but I would chalked it up as another ineffective, attempted ambush attack by the media.

My impression from reading the recent headlines, kind of lacklustre attacks on trump, is that he has won the battle with the media again, just like he did with the russian collusion theory and the ukraine issue.

I think what could do trump's re-election prospects harm is voters getting tired of listening to superlatives, it sounds phony the amount he uses them.

"Accomplished salespeople know the persuasive, almost subliminal, power of repeating emotionally uplifting words. Trump used “great” 35 times in his public appearance Thursday along with 13 uses of “tremendous” and 10 of “incredible.” [chicago tribune]

It's not subliminal once you start listening out for it, puts my teeth on edge now knowing it's coming, like having to listen to footballers be interviewed.

I still feel he'll win 2020, and I have a worrying feeling that democrat gavin newsom is being groomed for greater things, reminds me of bill clinton, too slick. IMO the US needs a ron paul/tucker carlson type as president, somebody of substance not a succession of grifters all too willing to pull the wool over voters eyes.

Its all window dressing.
He gave away his powers last month. I'm guessing he didn't even realise it while doing so because when he declaired a state of emergency he had to sign some orders that gave some powers to FEMA in order for them to take over control of the direction they go with the crisis.
It seems he was duped because many other orders where signed by previous presidents that all came into play when signing over powers to FEMA for the next 6 months also came into play. Which neatly takes them up to not long before the next election.

Republicans did a favor to democrats by forcing voters in Wisconsin to vote during pandemic. You really think that swing state will vote for Trump this year? I'm pretty sure they're quite pissed with republicans all the way to presidential elections.
And I'm guessing around 60-70k americans will die during this pandemic. And I'm sure Trump will give himself A++ rating for handling this crisis. You think americans will? His fight with media won't matter at all when the voting starts.

It's more their fight with him I'd say, they've never come to terms with the reasons why Trump was voted in, still in denial. I'm sure their derangement syndrome actually fires up his base more to support him.

What does Biden offer over andrew cuomo or any other younger middle of the road democrat? Name and face recognition I suppose, like a trusted familiar figure.

If it comes down to 1 or 2 swing states then maybe Biden might win, the virus could affect the economy so much that enough people switch to the democrats thinking they'll do more for poor people than the republican party.

Not sure Biden is capable of giving cogent answers unless it's all pre-scripted in front of him now.

I remember hearing about FEMA camps being set up years ago [prob on the alex jones show] I didn't really know what FEMA stood for though, he would talk about body bags being purchased, all in preparation of some national emergency. The UN stealing people's land too, I wonder how he has responded to the coronavirus lockdown :p

I think there could be something in it eventually, small step by step, until we end up in a robocop type scenario, the world population is going to keep growing, the govt debt accelerating etc.. hopefully not a dystopian future but I find it worrying that big tech monopoly people like Bill Gates are involving themselves in guiding the policies of the UN/WHO, he's never been elected, is not a trained doctor as far as I know. Sure donate money to charity etc...

His base isn't going anywhere for sure. They are the dumbest people on Earth. Gladly his base isn't enough to win the election.

Yup that's what Biden offers. He's been there and people know he can handle the job. Plus he isn't Hillary. Good luck to Fox to try to make people hate him. Biden will be a good healer after the crisis. Trump just offers more chaos and fighting. I'd think people are tired of that already.

Anyone does more for poor people than republicans. Even I do more for poor people than the republican party as a whole. I'm not trying to take their healthcare away unlike republicans. I'm not delaying their checks unlike Trump.

Mr T employs only the best. Listen how they try to shift the blame to the WHO and make themselves look like fools. COVID-19 is coronavirus number 19 in her view.

And these kind of people are in charge of the US response.

It is named Coronavirus Disease 2019 because that was the year it was identified.

Why don't these people actually fact-check before making such spurious statements?

I'll answer my own question here - it isn't in their interests.

Obfuscation is the name of their game - the more they can deflect the blame away from the WH's lacklustre response, the more they can influence their supporters into believing whatever misinformation they choose to spread.

I see you started drinking orange Koolaid again. :D

Top is the average of all polls. Bush had over 70% approval after 9/11, Mr T has still not broken through the 50%. Even the Rasmussen poll, the one that has him consistently over 50% and he likes to quote ever so often, has him well below 50%.

I repeat myself though, let him win the election as it will detrimental to the US world power, can only be good for the rest of us.

FYI, he won the election by some 70,000 votes which gave him the edge for the electoral votes in 3 swing states. Wisconsin was one of them with about 20,000 votes. The Supreme Court judge lost by well over 100,000 votes after Mr T strongly endorsed him and called all mail-voters fraudsters. Good luck Mr T

Trump and his whole family voted by mail in 2016 :D

Another example of an emperor with no clothes:

Mr T on Monday: "The President of the United States calls the shots. When somebody is president of the United States, your authority is total. And that's the way it's got to be."

Mr T on Thursday: "You (the governors) are going to call your own shots."

LMAO, maybe somebody read lil' Mr T that part of the constitution as "good night story".

I think there could be an element with voters perhaps not always telling pollsters the truth, similar to brexit people sometimes give the answer they feel is socially 'acceptable' rather than what they really think.

If trump is continuously associated with all these negative traits, such as vorcirion said above regarding his base 'the dumbest people on earth' some people will shire away from wishing to go on the record as a supporter. That's maybe the reason why so many predicted a Hillary win because the polls pointed in that direction, but that wasn't matched in reality.

Let's say the approval rating is 50/50, how will that transfer vote wise with the electoral college. I agree the US [ deepstate in my eyes ] geopolitical aims/objectives are likely weakened by Trumps bullish approach, so the world might become a bit more sane and independent rather than slavish and subservient to washingtons whims. [but that is a big question mark, europe is going to be weaker for years now, in need of loans etc..]

This is a great photo of trumpsters. There they are crying about the lockdown during the pandemic. I hope they get the virus and suffer the consequences. That's the only way those idiots learn. Hope they come to Trump rallies too and spread the love there.

Bit too hateful for the nature documentary thread.
Disagreeing with their actions is one thing, wishing a potentially life-threathening disease on them is a bit too much imo.

They are the ones ignoring the lockdown willingly. They can become carries of the virus that will kill innocent people. I have as much sympathy for them as I have for terrorists.

Acting like idiots, but out of ignorance not out of malice imo.
Its not like their intentions are to kill other people.

How many lynx have you in sweden, and do they attack humans? Have you seen any out and about on your travels?
Never heard of anyone being killed by one, and i think attacks are rare.
Google tells me we have about 1200 in Sweden.
Never seen one, but have seen tracks.

Seeing as they can take down a deer, a human can be probably be considered food if its hungry enough.
They are pretty cool tho, and probably the most "exotic looking" animal we got around these parts.

Kind of looks like they would live in the jungle or something.

That's what surprised me, they look like a jungle cat, I guess they must find somewhere to sleep in the coldest part of winter. You do have some amazing wildlife in sweden, wolverine was another animal I saw that stood out, I guess it's the benefit of lots of untouched habitat, plenty of deep forests. Being a cat I wonder if the lynx can climb trees to evade wolves?

There's been debate in the coronavirus thread about China and the W.H.O., I just read today on a slightly different topic that China has been carrying out forced organ harvesting on detainees, including prisoners of conscience that follow a religious/spiritual practice called 'falun Gong' which is based on buddhist principles and meditation etc..

Last year an independent tribunal found China guilty of organ harvesting, when they had said they would stop the practice of removing organs from executed prisoners back in 2014. :eek2:

, chaired by Sir Geoffrey Nice QC, who was a prosecutor at the international criminal tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, said in a unanimous determination at the end of its hearings it was “certain that Falun Gong as a source - probably the principal source - of organs for forced organ harvesting”.

“The conclusion shows that very many people have died indescribably hideous deaths for no reason, that more may suffer in similar ways and that all of us live on a planet where extreme wickedness may be found in the power of those, for the time being, running a country with one of the oldest civilisations known to modern man.”

He added: “There is no evidence of the practice having been stopped and the tribunal is satisfied that it is continuing.”

The tribunal has been taking evidence from medical experts, human rights investigators and others

Among those killed, it has been alleged, are members of religious minorities such as Falun Gong. Persecution of the group began in 1999 after it had attracted tens of millions of followers and came to be seen as a threat to the communist party.

Waiting times for transplantation offered by hospitals in China were extraordinarily low, the tribunal noted, often only a couple of weeks.

[patients from all round the world who need an organ transplant have been going there, like a business, organ tourism]

It is not clear how many UK citizens have travelled to China for transplants. Waiting times for operations are said to be far shorter than in the west.

that a liver transplant could be arranged privately at a Chinese hospital for $100,000.

The Chinese embassy told the Guardian: “The Chinese government always follows the World Health Organization’s guiding principles on human organ transplant, and has strengthened its management on organ transplant in recent years. On 21 March 2007, the Chinese state council enacted the regulation on human organ transplant, providing that human organ donation must be done voluntarily and gratis. We hope that the British people will not be misled by rumours.”

The tribunal heard reports of extraction of kidneys from executed prisoners from as far back as the 1970s. Most of the evidence, however, came from 2000 onwards.

How many more things have we turned a blind eye to in China just because it suits our business/economic model to have access to the largest cheap labour market on earth.

It's plain to anyone with a bit of common sense the communist govt of china must be routinely breaching universal human rights to keep their dictator regime afloat.

The money they've gained from all the manufacturing is partly ploughed into more state surveillance and abuse/control. We've effectively helped the communists keep power.

Pick a fight with Russia/China or carpet bomb some Afghan farmers: tough choices

Interventionist policies can be very 'selective' :p

I agree with the military intervention point, that's why I was never worried about a war kicking off with NK, in terms of conventional warfare they can fight back to some degree.

I'm not advocating military confrontation with china  more disengage economically, take the manufacturing out unless they reform and scale back their communist control/brutality, the organ harvesting is just one thing they've been up to.

2015:

China’s criminal justice system is still heavily reliant on forced confessions obtained through torture and ill-treatment, with lawyers who persist in raising claims of abuse often threatened, harassed, or even detained and tortured themselves, Amnesty International said in a new report released today

“In a system where even lawyers can end up being tortured by the police, what hope can ordinary defendants have?” said Patrick Poon, China Researcher at Amnesty International.

The report documents torture and ill-treatment in pre-trial detention, including beatings by police or by other detainees with the officers’ knowledge or upon their orders. Tools of torture described include iron restraint chairs, tiger benches – in which individuals’ legs are tightly bound to a bench, with bricks gradually added under the victim’s feet, forcing the legs backwards - as well as long periods of sleep deprivation and the denial of sufficient food and water.

Tang Jitian, a former prosecutor and lawyer in Beijing, told Amnesty International he was tortured by local security officials in March 2014, when he and three other lawyers investigated alleged torture at a secret detention facility - known as a “black jail” - in Jiansanjiang, north-eastern China.

“I was strapped to an iron chair, slapped in the face, kicked on my legs and hit so hard over the head with a plastic bottle filled with water that I passed out,” he said.

Tang Jitian was later hooded, his arms handcuffed behind his back and suspended off the ground by his wrists as police beat him.

Yu Wensheng, a lawyer from Beijing, was arrested on 13 October 2014 and detained for 99 days by police. He told Amnesty International he was questioned approximately 200 times, with 10 public security officials assigned to interrogate him in three shifts every day. His wrists were shackled behind his back with the handcuffs deliberately set far too tight.

My hands were swollen and I felt so much pain that I didn’t want to live. The police officers repeatedly yanked the handcuffs and I would scream,” he said.

In a way it's worse than I thought, seeing all the modern skyscrapers and economic progress that's taken place I assumed most other aspects of life had improved in line with that but it sounds like the authoritarianism is still very much in place.

I think it was 100,000, I just multiplied the uk figure by 10 and 60 and it's about right, that image was from friday or thursday just gone I believe.

So doesn't ours, I just posted about that over in the Ronavirus topic. 0.33 tho :eek2:

Yes I was surprised to see Belgium at the top, as not much has been mentioned in our press regarding this. We've heard lots about Italy and Spain's figures, but less france and belgium.

No disrespect, was in brugge just before Xmas, beautiful and cultured place.. but are Belgium even a country now (farage said this not my personal opinion)
Also the french are never happy, can’t blame them at the moment with the pathetic globalist shill macron at the helm.
We built the nightingale which was superb, how busy is it?
I know a nurse whom works in James cook hospital, biggest in the uk.
No overwhelming at all. She comes home every night after her normal shift and says the same night after night.
Yes we have a pandemic, but no it’s not as what’s being fed to people.

If we counted like France, the Netherlands and the UK our numbers would be around the same per 100.000.
