Some Rival casinos announced the arrival of a new slot today: Cosmic Quest: Mission Control, Episode 1!

This Space Age 5 reel, 20 line iSlot will really kick the excitement into warp speed. Experience an interactive arcade style "shoot'em up" Skill-based Bonus Round and Free Spins game-play (including expanding wilds!). It is you and your spaceship against the galaxy!

I've just tried this in fun mode, and first impression... I LOVE IT! :thumbsup:

Sounds & Graphics are the usual high standard we've come to expect from new Rival releases - spot on.

Free-spins; Like Scary Rich, the 10 free-spins feature expanding wilds on reels 1, 2 & 3, but this time it's a flat x3 multiplier for any wins made using 1 or more of the wilds.

Skill Bonus Feature; This is the first slot I can think of on which you have to use your keyboard to control the action in a bonus round! Use the left & right arrows to move your ship & 'space bar' to fire your laser and blast the asteroids falling towards you. Unlike Hole in Won, this appears to actually be true skill (though whether the amount won in this round is entirely based on the players actions or somehow predetermined is very difficult to tell without running many, many cycles).
But true skill or not - it's GREAT! :thumbsup:

Early impression: 10/10! :notworthy

FYI

DaVinci's Gold has a $12.00 freebie to try the new slot. Their servers must be very overloaded......spinning goes on forever.

Since they relate mostly to this slot, I've brought these quotes over from the 'Help I'm stuck in this feature' thread;

Tried this in fun mode for a while last night.
At first it seemed like a new fun thing, and I hit the "asteroids" feature like four times in maybe 300 spins. I made it to the end, (Stil had a ship and a half left, and the feature just stopped)...but never made more than around $30 bucks in the feature. Guess it'll pay a little more, if you go for the small ones.
Don't see it paying out any huge amounts, but would think the feature comes up quite a bit. Also the free spin feature came up once, and also didn't pay a lot...I think $20-30 with $2 spins.
Unfortunately I quickly came to the conclusion that the Shoot'em up Bonus round is definitely predetermined.
If you go as quick as you can & zap the high value asteroids your feature wont last very long, but if you take your time and are slow at hitting the targets the game just goes on longer until you reach the predetermined value. So this game is like Hole in Won; your level of skill has little or no effect on your prize. :(
I understand that the reason they do this is to maintain the slot's overall payout %, but it's disappointing nonetheless.

Anyway....I now finally gave up on Rival, since this is probably the fourth one I downloaded and installed, just to find absolutely nothing in the cashier, in the form of promotions or anything else. Been spending some time waiting for their support people, just to be told that danish people in general are cheaters, and are therefor not welcome in any of their promotions.
Please put that in big fat capital letters on your websites, so I don't have to waste my time on bs like this
That is totally ridiculous BS & really SUX! :mad:
Most Rival bonus are for slots play only; How fricking clever are you Danes if you can 'cheat' on slots??? :what:
I will add a warning about this on my sites once I find out which casinos apply this unfair rule.

New game bonus feature reminds me of playing Asteroid (the old game). Got the bonus spins and didn't even know how they came up. :D

It's OK I guess. Don't see the potential for large wins like Scary Rich. But, since I can't seem to even see one Frankenstien much less three to say nothing about disappearing Draculas, I guess it is as good as anything else.
I think the free-spins are a lot like Scary Bitch; huge wins are possible, but only if you're lucky enough to get all three wilds on the first 3 reels and decent matching symbols on reels 4 & 5, otherwise you could get sod all.
Again in fun-mode - win was less than $2 after 9 free-spins, but hit this on the last one:-

So after a bit more play, my second impression is;
Bonus feature not as good as I first thought and 'all or next-to-nothing' free-spins make the variance too high for my liking, so rating reduced to 8/10.

They are churning out new games while some of the older ones eg Grandma's Attic and a couple of others have serious bugs on them. Maybe they should conduct more rigorous QC checks.
You're so right. :thumbsup:
I'm going to start the Rival bugs thread right now!
