Hi everybody!

Over the years I've been to a few normal (land) casinos, and just recently had my first go at online gaming sites. I've tried two online casinos so far, but in both the house seems to outweigh the player by large... especially in games like Caribbean & 3card poker. I even get the feeling that it's times higher than in the 'real world' gambling halls. Am I wrong? Does anybody more familiar with the web-casinos know where I can go and win once in a while? :p
Thanks.

3 card poker has crap odds on the land based casinos. A bit of a feast or famine game. I think the odds of winning is about 44%. Not really sure exactly but I know it is one of the worst house games at a live casino.

If playing, I play the bonus+ box only.

The house edge of both 3-card Poker and Caribbean Stud Poker varies depending on the paytable used. However, I believe that the typical house edge range at online casinos is lower than the typical house edge range in Vegas, due to a greater chance of using an improved paytable. The best paytable I've seen anywhere for these games (either online or offline) is in the 5dimes bonus casino. Alternatively, you could play with a bonus, which would offset the house edge. For example, Intercasino is a reputable casino that offers a monthly bonus with 25xB wagering on 3-card poker. You are expected to retain about half of the bonus, if you complete the wagering on 3-card poker , using optimal strategy.

As a generalisation, the percentage payouts at online casinos are a fair bit better (eg: many slots are @ 95% online) but (and it's a BIIIG BUT), the variance (FYI "variance" can be loosely termed as "risk") of the games is higher. Swings and roundabouts.

Must admit its much easier to get the slot machine you want to play online.
If land based casinos allowed smoking still i must say i prefer them then online i did much better there then here.

Unfortunately Intercasino is not much use for the OP since he says he's in the USA... :(

@ OP:
I agree with the other posters above; online odds are usually equal to or better than B&M casinos.
One thing which could make it seem worse is that you can play way more hands/minute online, so your bankroll goes down that much faster...

NB; Welcome to the forum!

If the house edge at online-casino is not pleasant for you try to play at online-casino with no house edge. One of advantages online-casino is a high speed of game in comparison from a land casino under condition of honesty online-casino.

What casinos is Grey referring to? The only online casino I've heard of with no house edge is the Betfair Zero Lounge, but Betfair is unavailable to Americans.

i still prefer land based casinos over online, i like the feeling of cash in my hand when i win and no waiting, drivers lic. sign my 1099, pay my taxes on it and im happy and ready to move on:D online makes it easier for those that cant make it to the b/m casinos or just like the thought that gambling is just a click away, which sometimes can be too easy and cause problems, but this could also be turned around the other way, alot of peeps have lost homes, marriages and worse from gambling at both places......................laurie

I also look at it this way for myself and few friends that play slots with me its 4 hour drive. So if im going to play online i can deposit 25 here or there and if not hitting move to another online casino or stop for the day but damn if im going to drive 4 hours and play with only 25 dollars and say nothing is hitting, ill drive home now and try tomorrow. I most times stay there for over 20 hours, if nothing hits down 800 900 where is online you can control what you spend easier then land based if its a drive. Land based also have comp hotels and meals and concert tickets and so on another good way to spend few hours if slots arent paying. At home you clean walk your pets lol

I lived in Las Vegas for about 10 years and I loved going to the casinos- But when I started popping out all my girls ( I have 4 :D) I couldn't go to the casino's but still wanted to play. I got hooked online, I think land casino's are great for the fact if you hit big the money is there immediately. I think I prefer online for comfort of playing in my own home.

Thats true they pay out right away but i also wanted to point out and with reading a few threads on here i have had to show my id in land based casinos on wins over 1000. And yes was more then just my drivers lisc. health card social insurance number and yes they did ask me to let them photo copy a bill to have on file in office. With gas prices right now thats a extra deposit into online casinos right there hmmm maybe thats what ill do make my 3rd deposit this week.

Also there is a Betvoyager online-casino , but it does not accept the players from USA.
Thanks a bunch! I was just looking for a casino with the good players' odds, and it sure hasn't passed my mind to look for one where the player and the house share their equal odds! :)

When we could play in the US I would vote for online play. I felt the odds are better, your favorite machine is always available and I usually could recoup a bad session quicker. No taxes online either and you can play in your jammies!Land based are a hassel, you have to plan the trip, drive and I agree I am not going with $25! I usually stay about 10-14 hours so I have to have a good wad of cash. But since I don't have a choice I have gotten into a routine of going every Friday night for some VP & slots and I have done OK. Only had to pay taxes once so far. But don't ya just HATE the drive home?? It seems so much longer than the drive there! :D

The dull lights, the neverending tinkle of coins, the senior citizens bashing the roll button like its a life support feeding machine. I'll take the comfort of my house anyday despite free drinks.

I rather go out then go online lose to much money IMO. I know which slots to play and don't have to worry about not getting online, software crashing, sending documents over to complete strangers. Sheesh I don't know why I started in the first place. I rather go out at least I would do more than gamble.

For several reasons I gamble only online
- there are so many recommended and good casinos available
- nothing beats the comfort of playing in your own home. If you want to play
slots for half an hour you dont have to prepare, dress up and drive
- you can always find good bonus offers or cashback deals
- slots payout ratio is much higher from my experience.

Here in Australia we not only have a casinos in every state but also our pubs have slots (known as pokies) too. So there no real drama finding a b&m place to play.

Anything over $10,000AUD and you need to supply ID at all casinos. Whereas playing the pokies each state has different limits as to what gets cash or what is paid by cheque these days.

Like most I also like the instant pay-outs.

However apart from a few B&M casinos here in OZ a lot have dropped their dress codes. If it's not peeps in track pants and joggers, or worse, it's landing up next to someone who needs a damn good bath!

Because of this I much prefer playing online.

Besides the slots are set to pay 87.9% at Australian Casinos. Where as online it's far better (most of the time). Plus I get looked after very well at 32Red.

Cheers

I've yet to find a land-based casino that offers $1 minimum bet blackjack as most online casinos!:)

I heard that some of the Freemont Street casinos in Vegas have $2 tables....I haven't been down that way yet, cause I can't seem to find my way off the strip...LOL....so I can't confirm this....maybe someone else can? :)

Most of the casinos in Tunica have now lowered their BJ table minimum to $2 also.

Health issues have largely kept me at home the past couple of years. As a bus patron, I do receive bonuses from the land based casinos, and the cashback is better at the B&M's as well...no play through on them either, just given cash at the cashier's window, or now, at some of them, via a machine. Some of the Slots and Trots have begun giving coupons that have a 1x playthrough instead of cash as bus premiums. And the food is good (and comped) at the B&M's.

But online offers better payback on the slots, but you must remember your play is faster, and you don't get up and move around from game to game (all of which takes time).

I live in Ontario the good...so no free drinks. It is cheaper for me to crack a cold one in front of my PC and I am free to smoke indoors.

I expect once I have a return to health, that weekend deposit will usually go to a B&M once again.

But online does offer me an opportunity to play at my convenience, participate in free tourneys (Hello fellow 3Dicers and Slotmeisters at 32Red), catch a show (Thanks Buzzluck for such an entertaining show) and to play at 3 am when unable to sleep, so I have no plans to abandon online play entirely.
