Question How much can an Advantage Player win before he gets booted from an Online Casino?

Hi,

I have researched a good number of casino games and I believe I have finally found a game where I can get a small edge over the house with optimal play. Hope you’ll understand that I won’t go into details on what the game is and what strategy I’d pursue, as I had to put a lot of time into my research and making it public would make this edge go away very quickly. And you may also say that I may have gotten my maths wrong and I accept that this is possible.

But for argument’s sake, let’s assume I indeed have a true edge of 1% over the house and I keep playing the game round after round. There will still be a lot of variance in my wins and losses, but over time with Kelly bet sizing my gains will accumulate.

My question is: How much can I realistically win before the online casino either closes my account or changes the rules of the game to make my edge disappear?

Just trying to figure out if it’s worth the time trying to benefit from that edge.

Thanks!

How long is a piece of string... unfortunately there isn't going to be a good answer.

Over the years as providers and operators alike have been taken to the cleaners by people smarter and/or more dishonest than they are, they've been forced to up their game in terms of monitoring and restrictions - and things people could do years ago are much more likely to be excluded today.

Additionally, many of them can - and will - use countermeasures in real time if they deem the risk to be big enough, even if a hypothetical one. One such example I recall involved a baccarat shoe that was so one-sided the pit boss closed the table for emergency cleaning after 30 hands - naturally the shoes had been swapped once the table reopened minutes later.

If it's a small edge, they might spot it immediately, they might not spot it at all... only the people doing the monitoring can answer that question - and for obvious reasons aren't going to!

I feel like this is a bit like ‘how long is a piece of string’ type question.

Assuming your correct in that you’ve found a way to maintain a 1% house edge over a casino, there is no way of knowing how long until your rumbled and the casino either updates the game to remove the edge or decides it wants to close your account.

I would say that if you’re just playing one game, with similar stakes and doing tens of thousands of spins/bets, then it will probably raise suspicion at some point. At a minimum, responsible gambling checks would take place due to the long hours of gameplay probably required.

I’m also not convinced in your strategy. Assuming your maths is correct, a 1% house edge is a very small edge. Your strategy sounds pretty risky considering you said it is possible you have done the maths incorrectly (and theoretically have no edge or minus edge). I think if you’re really looking to create an advantage for yourself you need to think again.

It’s worth noting, even in 2023, some players do successfully manage to maintain way more than a 1% edge over the house, by being ‘advantages players’ in the form of taking only promotions and bonus offers, and not participating in non-promotional play. This kind of activity can be detected almost instantly or some players can remain undetected for a long period of time.

If at any point your taking advantage of the casino in any way, you should realistically expect your account to be closed from the moment they detect this behaviour, which could be at any point after the first time this ‘abuse’ happens.

not all casinos are same, Partcasino last year I won just over £10k in month they limit me to £200 lost , Yako Casino Pokerstars Bet365 I won from very low (£20-£100) deposit over £2500 up to £5000 they paid me without any problems
WHG ban me they sad problam gambler I play on WHG for over 3-4 years I was up about £20k never made crazy deposit like average gambler £100-£200

If it’s a slot and you do have an edge, it will most likely get flagged up the more you take advtage of it. If it’s a reputable casino you won’t get banned and you’ll get paid out.

The provider will release a ‘hot fix’ or a ‘critical update’

A friend of mine discovered an edge on the live game show style games from Evolution. It was a slight edge, enough of an edge for sure. He targeted the reputable casinos, he didn’t get banned, but to his shock they changed the game and its rules right in front of his eyes, they just paused the game live, made the changes and that was the end of it lol. All the casinos he played at paid in full with no issues, it was the provider who put a stop to his fun.

I managed a couple of grand over two accounts before the Casino caught on, but what I was doing was pretty noticeable.

With a small edge in a game, You could probably take a decent profit every month if you're smart (throw in some on purpose losses here and there) and don't get too greedy.

I agree with the others - fly under the radar and don't get greedy.
Play at as many different casinos as you can manage.
Play different games from time to time.

Good luck!

We haven't started yet and need to get a UKGC license ordered and paid for before we can. When our casino gets fully funded, if a player is on a hot winning streak that is great. A decent casino should be able to comfortably afford losses of up to hundreds of thousands of pounds to a single player. If a player just will not stop winning, then the casino would be forced to politely ask them to leave the table, if that is possible (not stopping winning money). But they could keep the money they won and cash out.
