Just want to give a big  to Harrods.

Right from my first contact with them they have delivered a great service.

Initially I had problems downloading their software. However they did everything possible to solve the problem even getting Jody from their CS to post to this forum with possible solutions. Eventually their 'techies' e-mailed me a link to a site which gave the solution and I was able to alter my computer software enabling me to download their software as well as solve problems I had had with other casino downloads :) .

The casino then gave me a free bonus of 50 for persevering with them. :)

I recently made a largish cashin and they requested ID (I had made previous cashins for smaller amounts which had been processed quickly with no trouble).
They were quite apologetic over the need to send my docs and offered to credit my account with 25 when I had complied.

I sent my docs, the cashin was subsequently cleared the same day and 25 went into my account. :)

As well as this great service their ordinary blackjack has the lowest house edge of any casino that I know of. Their baccarat only takes 4% on the banker bet for an house edge of only 0.6%. Anybody know another casino that can beat these odds?

Whilst they don't offer monthly match bonuses they seem to offer 2 or 3 other innovative bonuses every month with low WR which can be played through on all their games. (The variety of games on offer appears to be their only weak point). Just played a seasonal deposit bonus of 100 for instance with only a 2000 WR :)

With all these casinos out there with poor CS, rubbish bonuses and restrictive or plain laughable WR that get custom from members here I think we should be supporting and giving our custom to casinos like Harrods. That might encourage these others to give us a better deal.

(meister how do casinos like Harrods get on your reputable list?)

Mitch

Seconded  I also got a nice bonus when they asked for ID after making the same 1000 deposit I think you must have made this weekend. Makes a change from the majority of casinos that treat you like a criminal when asking for ID/scans, or just use it as a ruse to delay payment.

Now if only they'd start giving me their quirky weekly offers again. I promise not to make a profit this time ;)

One of the things that I find necessary is to meet them in person, face to face. I don't think I've met them. There are a number of casinos that haven't made it to the list because of this - which I try to correct when I travel to places like London. I'll be there in a couple of weeks. :D

Have to agree that harrods is a bloody good casino with some of the best games around.I love their single deck Blackjack

Question for the Harrods fans out there:

Say I want to check out their casino and take advantage of the 50 pounds bonus offer.

I've never deposited in pounds before, always dollars. Would I need to simply figure out the equivalent in dollars and deposit that?

Or does Harrods software do the conversion automatically?

Appreciate the help.

Checked with their Live Chat ... she was very helpful in explaining the deposit process until she asked if I live in the U.S.

I do and Harrods doesn't accept US players. :( At least she saved me the trouble and time downloading and setting up an account ...

Jody, from Harrods, posts here under the signature 'Harrods CS'.
You could 'PM' her for the answer.

As an example of these bonuses I have just received an e-mail from Harrods saying that for the next 5 days, whilst playing roulette they will match the players stake upto 5 when 7 comes up!

Of more interest to me, when playing blackjack, they will return half the players stake when the dealer gets blackjack. :)

Given that their blackjack only has a house edge of 0.29 to begin with, this must give the player the edge.

Can any of you maths wizards out there work out what this is?

Congratulations you can now retire or

Somebody will lose their job at Harrods or

It will never last 5 days or

It's only on the first x BJ's or

The max bet is $5 or

Harrods will be out of business on the 6th day.

Otherwise, mortgage the house in the morning, deposit 100,000 to the casino, call work and take a 5 day vacation, bet max 16 hours a day and hire somebody to bet max for you while you sleep. You'll be a millionaire next Tuesday along with half of Europe.

Is there time for me to become an English citizen?

An extra half-unit every 20.7 (SD) hands? - you have to be kidding me. (Think you'll get it on pushed BJ's or only winning BJ's?)

What are the BJ rules anyway of the game you refer to? Not that it matters. You could beat 6 to 5 infinite deck BJ with this rule in.

OK, before you lose the house you better run it by Grandmaster because a math expert I'm not. :)

Their single deck blackjack has a 0.0736% house edge according to wizards calculator.Am sure it should become in fabour of the player with their current offer.I wonder if i should deposit couple of grand and go either into jail or become rich.I should be able to make some damage to the casino:cool:.Who's with me? :D

Btw they claim to have roulette with no maximum limit.Shouldn't martingale break the bank?

It is only for their standard BJ - which has a very low edge.
"This bonus applies only to Blackjack and not Single Deck Blackjack or Double Exposure."

Ya think?? Wish I could be with you.

If they are dumb enough to actually do this, I'd start playing at 12:01 of the time frame. Because you'll be getting an e-mail by 6 AM that they have cancelled the BJ promotion.

Otherwise it's your chance to be a casino for 5 days and they are the player.

Trust me, they won't like it at all.

I totally agree with Clayman. I cannot believe that there isn't any restriction on the individual stakes or on the total amount refunded or some extra condition like you have to wager the refund 25 times on slots. If there are no extra conditions or restrictions, then jump in and play at the highest level you can afford.

The probability of BJ is 4.7-4.8%, depending on the number of decks, so even if you only get half of your stake back if the dealer has BJ and you have not, the promotion adds more than 2% to the theoretical return of the game, so you will have a player's edge of about 2%.

If you bet 25 playing 300 hands/hour, 8 hours/day for 5 days, you expect to win about 6000, with standard deviation about 3200.

Martingale is more likely to break your bank first. :)

Hi Clayman

Harrods aren't that dumb. They must realise that it is basically free money to a half decent blackjack player and limit the total payout to the player from the promotion to 100. (Not to be sniffed at though!)

Looks like I'm going to have to make my millions somewhere else. ;)

Went in last night and played a session, not surprisingly ended up winning. :)

Thanks Grandmaster for the info on the players edge under these rules.

Have you got a view on the edge on the roulette promotion if you were betting the even chances and getting your stake back when 'lucky' seven turned up?

I have a feeling that even with the 'La partage' rule running there is still a minimal house edge. But hey what do I know!

Still a very nice deal expecting to win 2% of amount wagered. I'd play 4200 $1 hands and stop on the 200th dealer BJ with my 100 extra dollars. Probably about the same as a 100/100*20.

Well I played the promotion got the whole 100 (That's nearly $200 by the way Clayman ;) didn't play anything like minimums though. Don't you just love the current exchange rate).
Won quite a nice sum as well as the promotion money :)

By the way have either you or Grandmaster got an answer to the Roulette house edge question I posed earlier?

Mitch

Hey Mitch!

On your 'recommendation' I took a look at Harrods (play mode) and am quite impressed so far!

Apart from their 'quirky' software, and very limited variety of games (including only 3 slots, which look like a pile of pooh to me!), there are two things I like a lot:-
1) The (surprisingly) low minimum bets. (Assuming real same as play)
2) The way you can 'speed up' the action. e.g. Playing Stud poker, you don't have to wait for the dealer to finish dealing his cards, you can bet or surrender and they are immediately exposed. Same with starting the next hand before your chips slide across the table!

Think I might be joining up real soon!

Edit] Also, you can play 2 hands of PaiGow at a time - I don't recall seeing this at ANY other casino!

Harrods Blackjack makes me PUKE!

Harrods Blackjack makes me PUKE! :puke:

I expect all Harrods members got their latest offer - play 20 hands in 5 different games for a free 25 quid!
That sounded like generous, and easy money to me as I'd done OK with the sign-up bonus and I like their games, but unfortunately I tried to use Blackjack to qualify. Big mistake! This was two of the worse little runs I have ever seen!

'Normal' BJ: 22 units played over 21 hands - lost 12. (Only 3 winning hands)
Double Exposure: 26 units, 22 hands, lost 10. (But 7 winners!)

BJ really sucks! (not just at Harrods) - How can you guys play this CRAP game?

I did a bit of cut & pasting to make this shot, but I promise you these are the genuine game logs from these two sessions:-

A bit of bad luck there KK! :(

I'm not going to let this put me off however as I intend to play this promotion myself. Might even play some of your daft games whilst I'm doing it. :p

Certainly going to play blackjack however, due to their very generous odds and the fact that I am way up overall playing this game at Harrods.

Mitch

I also did this. I wasn't as unlucky as you though KK! I did BJ, Doubule Exposure, Baccarat, Carribien Stud and Pai Gow. Very well tought-out promotion!

You had some bad luck.

Here are some numbers from one of my best recent sessions:
Total no. of hands: 175
Hands won: 90
Hands tied: 25
Hands lost: 60
Amount wagered: 1038
Profit: 216
Not bad for 20 minutes of"work".
This was about 2.7SD above the expectation, the probability of this is about 1 in 300.

Another very lucky session.
Total no. of hands: 25
Hands won: 17
Hands tied: 1
Hands lost: 7

Well I played the promotion ended up down 3 overall ( Video Poker was my biggest loser) but won the 25 bonus, therefore made 22 for a few minutes work. :)
