It's probably the perfect slot; it's programmed to make you feel you've achieved something while often barely paying out. You can have four or five reactions and really only get 4x your stake from them in the base game. Not much different to a non-reaction slot, but feels different.

It's canny design.

The criticism aimed at Bonanza comes from over exposure. If we all played 99% of other slots as much as Bonanza there would be far louder screams imo.

Listen to you lot moaning like a bunch of oul widows we are all aware how this slot goes guaranteed by the end of the month all of yahs will be posting winning screen shots.
I played for 9 hrs Saturday night and 6 hours last getting 18 bonuses all pretty dire for bonanzas normal standard but for me it’s getting the bonus that gives me the buzz so in my mind the weekend was successful even tho I was down over all.

But i seriously think reel steal would be a good choice for 200x base & 500x bonus.
Plenty of lines&combinations can spit out the 200x in base, and its got more than enough potential to give a 500x in the bonus.
Its also somewhat easy to bonus (most are crap tho)

Another good choice i think would be a slot like Reel king, where you have the gamble ladder.
Sure, hitting the top is not easy, but squeesing out a 200x is probably not impossible with 250x stake starting balance.

Another way would be to save one spin and never play it.
Then die of old age... I would find a way out of it.

I really like this question, thanks to the amounts you chose. Very clever.

That said, based on my own play history, the answer is NOT Bonanza.

As for the games I would pick ahead of Bonanza, well here goes...

Immortal Romance
Jurassic Park

I would also give the following some serious consideration....

The Finer Reels of Life
Creature From the Black Lagoon
DHV
Game Of Thrones 15 lines

And if these two games still existed, I wouldn't hesitate to put them ahead of Bonanza...

For me, the key to answering your question is bonus frequency.
Bonanza is clearly lacking in this regard when compared to my examples.
If my life is at stake, then you can bet your life that I am picking a game with a far better bonus triggering frequency. Simply because Bonanza's ability to spit out 200x in the base game comes nowhere near making up for the shortfall in its bonus frequency.

In fact, now that I think about it, I promote DHV to the same tier as IR and JP.

Mmmmm I wouldn’t say getting a bonanza 200X base game hit is the norm!!

I’ve probably scraped about 10 or so from at least a million spins!! Still stuck at just 2 hits of a nats over 1000x from features also!!

Cant even remember the last 500X hit I had. Just getting 50X from the bonus seems an achievement these days.
