The short list for 2018 is.....

drum roll please

....
CasinoEuro
Rizk Casino
Royal Panda
Video Slots
Trada Casino

These are the casinos that the Casinomeister Advisory Group will be voting on in a secret ballot. The final awards will be announced the week of January 14.

If you have never read our awards, or don't know what they are all about, you can read last year's here:

Casinomeister Awards: 2017

And just to add - we've decided to included the Meister Minions who have won a MM award in the past to be included in the voting process. Those Minions will be notified this morning.

I thought you for some reason had stopped trying to get people to be Minions because I haven't seen any posts about it for months.
Then I realize you must have moved me from being a Minion when my account was closed, or if it was when pereblue messed up with our accounts.
Can I set me as a Minion again myself or do you have to do it?

Done.

The CAG has been voting for the Best Casino from the short list for about five years now, so it's nothing really new. I opened it up for the MM awardees as well since those members have been awarded for their participation in the site and have shown interest and dedication to CM. I am not saying that that folks who are not part of the CAG or MM awardees do not show dedication or don't participate, but this is a way to open up the vote to get a wider distribution - which increased the votes from 44 to 58. Many of the MM awardees are CAG members already. :D

I don't open the voting up to the general membership for the main point that it could be exploited by casinos buying or encouraging votes. I have seen other sites do this in the past and it is something that I am very wary of.

@Casinomeister

Can I just ask what the thinking was behind just the MM's being able to vote? As a player community, is there any reason as to why we can't all have our vote, at least then it is totally transparent and fair? :)

Because it removes the opportunity for shills and unproven members to influence the results, plus those who may have had disputes fomenting antipathy towards otherwise good sites.

The CAG are carefully selected members with a proven record of contribution here, and just only today 5 new CAGs have been invited on board to replace 3 that have gone dormant.

The awarded-MMs being included is a new thing, to recognize their contribution.

Just from running an open-to-all Slot Of The Year 2018 I can tell you the hours it took, imagine the work involved sifting through hundreds if not thousands of votes!

The fact that the CAG is exclusive to long-term members who have moved up the ladder (as indeed some of you guys will in due course) also adds a token incentive to members here and ensures that those who do vote are availed of all the discussions and comments in the last year which make theirs a considered opinion and vote.

Remember these awards aren't chucked around like confetti, but are valued within the industry - well by kosher casinos anyway.

Like West Casino recently did with the Ask Gamblers awards ??

Once they became nominated, they had a raffle for £1000, for everyone who then voted and left a review at AG

LOL...what a travesty. AG will soon be applying for a 1668/JAZ licence at this rate.

Thanks for the response.

I didn't consider the fact that casino's would actually attempt to influence people for their votes, that is beyond redemption and doesn't even deserve any consideration.

I will bow to your superior knowledge but on first read I had to ask :)

That's the difference between our awards and theirs. We don't encourage this sort of behavior.

Join the MMs, and become active enough there and you will probably win some sort of an award, and next year you'll have voting power. :D

I just write down all the names, scatter them across the floor, and wherever kitty does her business is who gets my vote. Very tried and true method. :)

Seriously, though another good reason to not open the vote to every member, is quite simply, many members wouldnt put in the due diligence. Some members havent BEEN here a year to have followed the good and bads, some pop in and around but rarely and some don't give a toss but the fact they play at one or 2 or play at every and their sister and their interest starts and ends with 'me likey, me no likey'.

When you win a CM award, it adds gravitas to your property. And it's a well-deserved honour.

I found it strange that WestCasino were nominated in the first place, I mean they are a good casino with little in the way of complaints but nothing overwhelmingly special to become best new casino. Even affiliates have been bombarded with voting for the AG award.
