Most of you are aware that Jasminebed was heading to Cuba on a much anticipated vacation. She posted Wednesday on Facebook that she was finishing her packing, and she was supposed to be leaving on Thursday - which was right when Hurricane Sandy was heading there as well.

Just read an update on this storm and it's pretty severe, it hit Cuba as a category 2 and destroyed buildings that had stood for 200 years. 22 people have been killed throughout the region.

Here's saying a little prayer for you Jazzy, that you're safe and warm and healthy.

Well she was logged in yesterday. So either she's at home, or at her hotel which had an Internet connection on the 25th.

That is very good news!

Is anyone else worried? I live in Massachusetts, and I would hate to have to go through what we went through last year, 5 days without power. No generator/stove/hot water/heat...it was terrible. People were going crazy stealing from others who had generators.

Yes losing the power is the worst thing. Just be prepared with beer , liquor, beer, liquor, beer, liquor, beer liquor, and let me knot forget some food, ice & water. Ive been without power for up to 30days in very very very hot temperatures. The only issue i have had was no A/C. I am prepared for looters. You loot we shoot!!!!!!!!

Yw Jane , the calm before the storm, if you live right near the coast or near one of the nuclear power stations - gtfo of there, the situation is akin to one of those hollywood disaster movies - a heavily populated part of the country, coming in from sea, at high tide, and a full moon, a 3 point perfect storm on course to collide, at the worse time of the month, and several nuclear power plants along it`s path (at least they`ve covered this with a satellite phone equipped Fed in place at each one ).

Home Safe and Sound

Hey gang, nice to see you were thinking of me.

I holidayed in Varadero, which got the edge of the hurricane. Our flight was the last flight in, it was very fierce. Hotel had some blips with electricity, lots of downed trees and lights, and intermittent water problems. Internet and some telephone was down or intermittent.

But after the second day, mostly sunshine, food that ranged from mediocre to very good, cold beer and a nice pool and a wide variety of cocktails. Very much enjoyed my stay at Club Kawama.

The western end of the island was hit badly, many many people without power, resorts flooded out and airports closed. I think there was only a couple of deaths, and water and food was brought in quickly, but many roofless and without services still. It's difficult to get supplies to rebuild in Cuba.

Beaches were redflagged until the last three days, but man, did I enjoy those last three days.

Never did make it to Havana though, bunged up my bad knee first night during a sexy dance competition, which left me a little less mobile than I would have liked for a few days.

Hope all my friends along the eastern seaboard made out okay too.
