Hello all my CM friends,

I have received a few PM's wondering where I have been lately and then realized I didn't post about taking a vacation.

We left on Monday January 9th on a free Harrah's charter to *warm* Laughlin Nevada and then have been traveling between California and Nevada ever since. We are at my brother in law's home in CA right now, but leaving later this morning for Las Vegas.

As I have posted before, my daughter Anne Erler is the QB for the Green Bay Chill team in the Lingerie Football League. Her final game of this season is tomorrow night in Las Vegas. So we are ending our trip there to cheer her on. We return home on Monday 1/23. There is a group of about 15 family and friends going to the game with us so it will be great fun.

The Las Vegas Sin (how apt of a name is that!) is undefeated this season, so we probably won't win. GB is a first year team with only one win so far......but we will try hard. My daughter has been sick with the flu so I am hoping she is well enough and strong enough to play her best tomorrow night.

So all is well with us --- just been busy traveling to nice warm weather. Missed one snow storm at home so far and yesterday when I check with the kids they told me it was -19 with the windchill factor, so it will be tough to go back to WI after the weekend.

Hope all is well with my CM friends. Be back soon.

BACK HOME!

Hello all,
Thanks for the well wishes -- we are back and it was a very nice vacation.

First off the game was dismal, as expected. Las Vegas is an All Star team that plays year round and it showed. They won 30 to 0. They scored 5 touchdowns, but we didn't allow them to convert any of their extra points, so that was a bit of an accomplishment. My daughter was feeling better, but probably only played at about 80% of full strength. But I am proud of her never giving up and keeping her head in the game.

We had a great trip, 14 days on the road 12 nights in casinos and 2 nights with our brother in law. Harrah's flew us in on a free charter and then we rented a car for a week before we hooked up with family and drove with them to Vegas.

Paid for two of the casino nights in CA where we were first time visitors, the other 10 nights were comped courtesy of Harrah's Laughlin, Harrah's Rincon (North San Diego), and Bellagio. Plenty of food comps so a relatively inexpensive trip except for our gambling. Even that was mild, so we are feeling good.

Glad to be home. When I get caught up a bit more, I may post a more detailed trip report. :)

Great to hear you were comped most of the way Diane. Years ago, I made daily trips to Macau casinos and there was no such thing as comps. Forget about food and accomodation. You would be lucky to get even a ferry ticket costing $20 USD back to Hong Kong even if your turnover is over $10KUSD. Times have changed with the introduction of new hotels like Sands, Venetian etc. but the comp rate is still low AFAIK.

Thanks chuchu-

When I only played live poker, comps were rare. The best we could hope for as poker players was the reduced casino rate and an occasional meal comp.

One day 15 years ago while waiting for a seat in a game, I sat down and played some Video poker. I never imagined the level of comps that could be accumulated by playing the "machines". Since then I have rarely had to pay for any casino room and have been RFB most all my trips.

Harrah's is the largest casino group in US with probably 30 locations and one player's card works at all their sites so comps just keep accumulating. When I go to Vegas, which is now 6-8 times a year I can bounce from Harrah's to MGM to Venetian to TI, to Palms, to Orleans etc and stretch out a trip about as long as I want and do the cycle all over again. I am not in the league of Jean Scott, the Queen of Comps - but dang close if you "play the game" you can do it relatively cheap.

I love a bargain, and we did it well this last time.

Thanks,
Diane
