Australia and online gaming

Actually it was Tim Costello and his Anti Gambling group

If we're talking actual fact, lets get them correct.

It was Xenophon and his Tassie mate Wilkie, who truly deserve our contention. Both held a vendetta against pokies for years. Well before reforms to the online gambling bill came to light.

Partly thanks to licensed AU sportsbooks accepting 'in game betting' (it was illegal), this gave Xenophon a soap box. Subsequently spearheading reforms to the 2001 AU interactive gambling bill. The 2017 IGA Bill was his baby, and he fought hammer and nail to get it through parliament, and passed into law.

Not long after the IGA Bill had passed. You may recall, a few AU Politicians came under fire regarding their dual-citizenship's. Xenophon was included in that group. No one with dual-citizenship was permitted to hold a parliamentary seat in Australia. Briefs were prepared and rulings for those caught in this mess, were apparently sought from the High Court. Never did here the results of those cases, they all seemed to be swept under the carpet. Though, Xenophon is no longer in public office. He lost his seat, and since gone back to being a solicitor.

It begs the question, if Xenophon's dual-citizenship invalidated his parliamentary held seat of office from day 1, then, does the 2017 IGA Bill hold validity. None of us could contest that, but someone with deep pockets could. Maybe they'd also contest the specific licensing law, which, as we know, there currently are no options for obtaining an AU online casino license.

Moved to Aussie in 2004. Sold my race car company, after finishing 2nd in Europe in 2002.

Was so different to we have now.

Try to put a bet on a race and 5 start, because of the states

I used to play at River Belle casino

Drop a k in there was all good.

Most of my family live in NZ. So went over there.

They have pub jackpots

People sit there playing 1 cents

I play $2.50 and win

Pot goes before £1000

Anyone got any suggestions on where to play online I’ve played Emu casino the last month or so and I just cannot win I think that casino is rigged.

Can someone maybe inbox me with some suggestions I have the Australian government ruining online casinos it makes me so mad
I've been playing on jokaroom and tbh they all seem the same mate.

The % pay out rate seem just like real pokies.

How about Betsextra.com there was a link from the Irish Based free Roulette wheel that said Australians could play there and
on reading their Terms and Conditions they accept Australian Dollars - Actually an update after re reading their Terms and Conditions
and sure enough Australia is one of the banned countries ,oh shoot !!!

So emu has been in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Kid won 30k off $200 and they woudlnt pay him out, he blew it all and committed suicide.
Probably took their time verifying account (standard with them and you cant request withdrawal until you are fully verified) and it worked, he got bored and thinking he can turn it into more blowing it all back.

Watch the media and politicians turn this into an excuse to also block them on the DNS blacklist like offensive materials/piracy etc.

Sad thing is if they didn't introduce this new law we would have a lot more options that don't take 3 weeks to verify your account and the government could actually get the tax they want.

100% agree mate. They never talk about all the suicides at the star.

My first ever insane win back in like 2011 or 2012 at Spin Palace I think I did 5 x $200 deposits n then hit a ridiculous win spree getting balance up to 37k, thinking it was my day to become a millionaire I started being reckless and lost it all to the point where there was nothing left to withdraw.

For days I was extremely angry with myself but suicide, come on, only a small percentage of people would do something like that, I got greedy and lost, my own fault.

After watching that second link I posted for A Current Affair my suspicions were correct, they kept rejecting his id saying it wasn't clear enough. I have had the same thing happen to me and then when I resubmitted it was fine.

Had a 9k and almost 3k win (all in the past 2 months) paid to me with no issues so its not like they don't pay, the second one was actually within 2 hours of requesting it but I was already verified.

GameArt no longer offer their services to Australia. Not sure about Grand Dragon.

Edit: Sorry, I don't think I have commented on the right games. I was thinking of Money Farm1,2

Thanks to @LoopsterAU for jogging my rapidly failing memory. I was right (sort of) first time around. Money Farm (GameArt) = Farm Ville (Lucky), whereas Dragon King (GameArt) = Dragon King (Lucky).

I can still find at least two casinos offering Lucky - which ones can't you find the games at?

I've played at emu casino over the years, mostly losing of course. I managed to win a bit a few days ago, a few thousand, and thought I'd run into problems withdrawing because it seems something always goes wrong with these off shore sites. I was pleasantly surprised and they didn't give me the run around at all. only just saw the posts today about the tragedy of the young man taking his life after dealings with the casino. I think I may have got luckier than I even realised.

Only just discovered this thread. Gold stars to the OP for commencing it :)

With the ACMA on the warpath, I'm not sure adding casinos who still accept AU players is a good idea. This thread is indexed by Google etc, and is also viewable by guests.

Maybe CM could give us a private forum to discuss these matters?

Emu is gone, from what I'm reading the ones that are known not to pay out Aussies will go.
Can you not access Emu? What error message are you receiving?

Also not sure what you mean by the bolded bit.

No casino should be offering any games to Australians. That said, I would have thought these rogue casinos would be the ones to stay as there is no redress for any Aussie in the case of non-payment, so there is little incentive for them to quit the market.

When emu was being closed the article said the government was targeting sites that were known not to pay out or screw Aussies over.

So it's starting to get serious then.

Soon we will be without any online casinos, as casinos can only operate with a licence, but there is no licencing authority in Australia to issue licences. That is the classic Catch-22 situation we are in.

What IP provider (at a guess, Telstra?) are you using, because so far I have not been affected by this.

Can you also post a link to the article re Emu? I would like to read it.

Emu is still around URL has just changed.

A lot of the others have also added proxy sites and emailed existing customers in case they try block them at the DNS level as well.

Its just a game of whack a mole, our stupid government will never learn. Just legalize it by issuing licenses and take your tax you want on it, problem gone, stop bending over for Packer and what he puts in your back pockets.
