A discussion on the T and C word (moved from Bonanza BTG)

Oh well that's just great

Where were you three days ago :D
someone asked him how many times he addressed rigged slots....i think family and friends were looking for him for 3 days

I remember once..yeeeeaaaars ago....and I think the show was TJ Hooker (gods, I'm dating myself) and the word 'slut' was said.....and we were all like, OMG..on TV? Because then, the word held a lot of venom
Now? it holds about as much power as calling someone a poopy-head

T j hooker. Yassss
Cue William Shatner trying to do a forward roll. He was a bit of a poopy head

That word is very mild in AU or hardly even used. :)

Aussies are really naughty when it comes to bad words, probably the worst in the world :laugh:
for sure, my aus buddy would probably greet me with, how ya doin, ya C :eek2:

No don't have a daughter and would not call a female it
I don’t have a son but if I did I would not differentiate between the two and wouldn’t call either of them that word. I expect though that a lot of Fathers may view it like yourself. Which is why when the forum has a lot of female members I am struggling to see the necessity for the use of that word. Call me old fashioned it’s the way I was brought up.

Personally, I think the 'C' word, when aimed at a female, is the most offensive, derogatory, humiliating, contemptible, belittling, demeaning insult that is possible to be used. (Hold on while I look up a thesaurus for more synonyms) .

And yet, strangely enough, is often used - by men - as an affectionate term for their mates.

It has also become the go-to swear word when anyone wants to express very strong disapproval/disagreement - apparently the 'F' word is no longer strong enough.

I think it is one word that should be abolished from any lexicon of any language, forever.

However, I don't have a problem with the 'T' (twat) word. It has been a long time since it meant anything other than you idiot, you tool, etc. Not sure what that says about me though. :eek2:

Maybe it does have a lot to do with were you are from but let’s see how this little scenario is viewed. You are in a modestly smart restaurant and are being served by let’s say a 20 year old waitress who accidentally spills something during service at your table which doesn’t cause anybody any damage. Just a quick clean up. Would you expect to jokingly call her a clumsy t*** and A) have everyone in earshot carry on as normal as if nothing happened B) Realise you were out of order and expect a reaction from others around you C) expect the management to get involved and possibly ask you to leave D) expect the girl to be offended but nobody else or E) none of these. I am sure a few people will make up their own amusing replies:).
