What is your worst non monetary-loss while gambling directly or indirectly? i.e lost your house because of gambling debts, did you loss your car in a foolish bet, girlfriend left because you blew 10k at the casino, bet your dog on the toss of a coin....

I nearly lost my little flat about 2 years ago. I was 4 months behind on the mortgage, and I hadn't paid a bill in months.

Also, I cannot seem to hold a relationship that well, as gambling seems to take a priority all the time. I was with a girl that I was crazy over for 5 years and one day she walked out and never came back. That was 8 years ago.

Things haven't really changed that much, since.

The sad thing is, if I had the option of a good night out with my mates, or put a couple of hundred quid in Loaded....

First of all, I must say the 2 replies to this thread, just before mine were amazing and I really expect this thread to turn out to be very interesting !

I mostly play poker, and I have had many sessions when I had been sitting in front of my PC for hours without getting ANY decent hand to get in the pot. It was so frustrating and made me feel I had thrown some of my precious free time down the drain.

Whenever I decide to play blackjack, I also have some sessions when I can't seem to get a single $ from the dealer. Especially when I have something like J-8 and the dealer's first card is 10, and then he gets 3-3-3, I feel like breaking my monitor!!!

So, I suppose my precious free time and my patience is the two most valuable things I 've lost while gambling....

My health. When I was in my twenties, I played mahjong overnight at least 3 times a week and in my thirties I either went to the gambling tables in Macau or the cruise ships again every other day and still be fit for work. Now though I am still in relatively good health I cant play mahjong for more than 4 hours each session and I only visit the tables once or twice a month. It's really tiresome.

I guess I would have to say i lose time. Ihave been sitting at my computer for 4 hours so far today. I could be cleaning, socializing, exercising but no... this is what I do. Im not really complaing though...;)

hey bro, I'd seriously consider GA if you're not already in it.

My mind.

A good alternative to gambling, if you want to stay at your PC is a good multi-player game like Quake4, Counter Strike etc or the new breed of global game like

(check that out, you'll be gobsmacked!). Then get yourself on a server and play with people and in no time, you'll find a fantastic alternative to casino play, I promise!

is there a site where one can play these games for money?

Lol. Well Project Entropia uses real money, and you can win, but I hear it's hard :D

I had some fantastic nights on "Quake2" and "UnReal Tournament" in team games. Some of the best entertainment and online socialising I ever got involved in - for next to nothing too :)

Another alternative and free games, is Yahoo games, plenty of choice there, I love playing their pool, no money involved but its all for rating points, so it gets competitive and is a nice break from gambling.

No offense but I had to sleep with an awful skank after loosing a poker game. One of those got shitfaced new they were horrible uglies but thought they looked good through drunken eyes and committed, started playing cards sobering up and realising we were in trouble so made a side bet with my pal and lost. It was horrible but I never welch on a bet.:eek2:

Mine is not amazing. Just brutally honest.

I've also lost more than I care to remember, cars, g/f's, mates, a couple of businesses, man the list goes on. Like you cheekymonkey I've also done the GA jig too.

Though in a glimmer of hope, devine intervention or maybe more from just being sick and tired of being sick and tired of screwing too many things up, I've been able to take hold of things lately. I mean now I don't blow every last dollar I have on or @ casinos.

My new patner knows I gamble and although she doesn't hassle me, I really don't want to loose this lady. So I'm setting up a new business and I'm really taking steps to make sure I find other interests and to have some enjoyment these days. Sure I'm still playing but not to the extent I used to and definately not blowing buckets either. I lost enough in the last 27 years to make up for 3 life times.

I certainly lost my mind after some terrible sessions:oops:

I don't think online games can replace gambling though at least they can't for all of us. It really depends the individual. I had the fun of my life with unreal tournament online a few years ago but again it just isn't as exciting as playing blackjack:D. Especially when we consider that the feelings you get from gambling are for many very important to the point where we really 'need' them especially for those who lack an adequate level of love and fulfillment in their life. It's worth noting though that when you feel loved because someone likes you or when you are in love(peace) with yourself in whatever way for whatever reason the addiction for gambling suddenly fades away as you no longer require external stimulants.

Pretty deep and insightful there gfkostas. And at least partially true.

better try in german

for my english (still) is too rusty to expresss what i want to say (hopefully it s allowed??):
