....
Surely there is one amongst you that is willing to step forward and address this...where the heck is the owner of this site (Meisterman Himself) in this important discussion here?
It would be beneficial I think to hear Bryans views on this as well, IMO...
My avatar hasn't changed for a reason...it's still the winter lull for me. It's the time for me to catch up on a number of domestic projects (like clearing out and reorganizing the cellar - and partying
)
But back to this topic. Casinomeister hosts a rogue section - this rogue section includes casinos that range from being unethical to having crap service - from spammers to sloppy clip shot joints. One person's rogue may be not so rogue in another's eyes.
We also have a section outlining Casinomeister's
philosophy and mission, and a section for
webmasters/affiliates to absorb some guidelines and tips.
That saying - I leave it up to the webmaster to use their own discretion on how to deal with this. If they have a listing - where
all casinos - even the roguish ones are listed, I would hope that they would include a disclaimer and a dead link. Or perhaps link the URL to some other place like
There are creative ways to deal with this without compromising one's integrity.
On the topic of not being able to kill aff links because one's site is too big, I don't buy this - it'd take only a few searches in Homesite and you'll find your links. The same goes for vBulletin. It shouldn't take one more than an hour. Don't be a sloppy webmaster.
If the affiliate program went bust, would you search for these links as well? You're losing traffic when you don't - treat this the same way.
When Kiwi casino went rogue a year or two ago, it took me five minutes to kill the URLs - and they had been listed on this site since 2000.
Webmasters need to school one another on the levels of rogueness. We can suggest to each other on how to deal with this, but I don't think we should be dictating ethics or standards on other webmasters. We should be schooling them and persuade them to advertise responsibly.
I can understand people being reluctant on shutting off a program that may be putting bread on the table, but you know the saying "don't place your eggs all in one basket." There are plenty of really good programs out there - these are the ones that deserve to be promoted.
As for no nominations here - I forgot to add the forum ID number to the database
I'll get to that now.
