UK Gambling commission to look into £2 stake limit for online slots. Decision within 6 months

To be honest, I thought affiliates / streamers would be making more fuss about these changes after all it will be them who are most affected. Sitting back and saying 'it won't happen' aka NickSlots and Chipmonkz. If I was still an affiliate I would be writing to the Gambling Commission and petitioning.

The guy I spoke to at ICE from UKGC said it was a priority but the sticking point was land-based casinos were at capped at £5. So it would be difficult to implement a lower bet on this type of licence class than a B1 category. I suggested £10 limit online and he said thereabouts most likely for slot based games. Roulette/blackjack would not be limited same as land-based. I think you can do £100,000 spins at Empire in London?

Personally, I welcome £2 limits to combat the growing number of problem gamblers in the UK. It would certainly stop people copying the silly bet sizes that the Bandit and streamers do.

Someone isn’t keen on moving to Malta

Technically it's possible not to move to Malta yet play under MGA rules instead of UKGC whilst residing in the UK. Simply rent an office space in Malta and setup a company there, sign up to casino's with your new company's address in Malta and then setup a computer there so you can use the "company VPN": work from home in the UK.

Most of my accounts were opened in Malta years ago and I can still buy bonus buys in the UK if I wanted to.

Not sure how much UKGC would have sympathy for affiliates loosing their revenueshares when their aim is to reduce gambling. They hardly listen much casino operators so can't really find them to stop some change because some affiliate contacting them worried to have financial losses if people gamble less :)

That’s the thing nic, as much as it’s denied and you get the clowns saying (watching you gamble £20 a spin helps me) there has been a massive spike in gambling related addiction since steaming was a thing.
i mean these lot started begging for donations to fund there streams, yes the likes of Mensa member nick got lucky with casinogrounds, but now you even have the likes of chip hitting £20 spins and trying to promote responsible gambling, streaming and RG is a oxymoron.
yes they can afford to do it, but really can they? Without the constant bonus reloads and possible behind the scenes deals I don’t thin many could at all, that’s without affy earnings mentioned.
its so far removed from the reality of gambling its comical, said before and its relevant to the £2 max stake limit.
What kind of person would class that as ‘normal stakes’ 500 spins is £1000.
most people would class 500 spins at almost a normal session.
a tiny percentage of folk can afford to lose a grand a session.
when I’m in work offshore, I do get v good money, but at over a grand a week I’d struggle to play with £2 being my ‘sensible stake’
Obviously I’m so against streaming it’s clear for all, this wasn’t jealousy based or anything else, the early days I enjoyed it until the lies and clear deception started to happen, all to take losses for your own gain from a fellow human.
I’ve spoken to affy managers, had proof of lies and deceit, then have the streamers ignore it, block you and label you a troll.
The dark side of this is there are many viewers whom will and do think you can win playing slots like these parasites do, that’s people losing families, lives, jobs, cars whatever.
as proven on here when chipmonkz was called out, he lied about abuse towards him and ran a mile without addressing a thing and I was banned..
no matter how you look at it it’s a grubby business streaming, not something that would sit right with me in bed of a evening.
anyhow hope this latest rant doesn’t get me banned again, was rather restrained I do think.

I agree with pretty much everything you say @Playford7 and once I saw the toxic side of affiliates I jacked it in for those reasons.

There are many responsible affiliates just like this site for example but it's the YouTube lot that ruined it all. I visited a library the other week as my phone battery was dead and I needed to e-mail someone. On the front page of YouTube was Stop and Step with a service station video as it was trending in the UK. The Bandit often trends under 'Gaming' which is heavily viewed by kids. You can count on one hand the number of streamers that label their videos 18+ that require a sign in to view.

The thing that makes me laugh is when streamers say I don't make much money from affiliation - Chipmunkz said it last week on stream. How is that possible? Some make £100 CPA + RevShare. When I worked on affiliate site which was RevShare alone, the income was £30-£50k a month just from search engine and social traffic.

I still watch streamers like Hypa, The Hideous Creature and Rocknrolla because there is no affiliate agenda and they play with their own money only.

I think I said here or maybe another forum in January, that 2020 will be the end of streaming at least in the UK. The Hideous Creature said recently that YouTube will ban all gambling videos soon. A step in the right direction :)

Any changes that the UKGC make to make gambling more responsible is only a good thing.

Totally agree and I’ve stated many times this isn’t against the affiliate, per se.
Just the morally bankrupt lot on YouTube/twitch.
ive no doubt of decent affiliates, I’ve PM’d many on here over the years to tell them what I say isn’t against them at all.
I’ve also been saying for years about the joint ‘gaming’ accounts..
also the time many stream are of times in which many younger people are out of work and watch these people stream thinking it’s easy, many still don’t know what affiliation is, it’s just a quick way to lose the dole or whatever it is now signing up to a link to emulate there favourite actor, sorry streamer.
I watch the likes of daz, and have also said he’s made some dubious choices of casinos he promotes, which shocked me coming from a guy who’s v v in the know of good and bad casinos and general affiliate practice.
also hyperlynx, slot excitement channel.
not aware of the hideous creature lol! Is it a picture of Bryan naked? (Joke Bryan :))
Also the casinos that are promoted are questionable at least, nektan brands, genesis... most popular actors, sorry streamers still promote these sites, 48hr pending periods and terrible RTP and not to mention talk to the hand tactics.
i do genuinely hope the lot are banned, there isn’t enough defence of how they earn a livng for it to be morally correct.

That's exactly what will happen. Obviously, the UKGC doesn't feel that players can choose their own wagering limits, and they will do this for them. Yet, I am sure the land based casinos in the UK won't be held to these same standards.

This will just drive that UK traffic to the Caribbean casinos - and Bob's yer uncle.

The landbased casinos already have this in place as the max possible bet on slots is £5 per spin.
You can only bet higher at a casino that has a regional supercasino licence, none of which exist.

Would be great fun to see "super licensed" online casinos as well who only can allow players to bet higher than £2 :)

Slots as a medium don't need high-stakes play anyway, it's a completely different beast to Table games.

They're generally sneered at and aimed at non-gambler masses that like a good lights & sounds show.

They have virtually no interaction and serve as a gambling/ 'entertainment' hybrid, especially online where they look more like casual app games or video games that could entice someone that's never even thought about gambling before. Lord knows that's how I got into it, through sheer accursed 'luck'

Problem is they're not even entertaining anymore, nor can I win on them. So whilst the sole preserve of the great unwashed, high-stakes slotting is an unnatural fit anyway for the vast majority. Seeing streamers play these video games sorry 'modern slots' at ridiculous bet levels is no doubt the link to the UKGC's clampdown.

And let's face it, can you imagine the Earl of I'mFuckingRich slumming it on slots in a dank corner even doing £5 or £20 bets. I think you'll find them playing Table games, Roulette, Baccarat etc

You mean the chap that did a joint stream with Fruityslots the other week? The same Fruityslots that promoted dodgy casinos and had the non gamstop casinos on their website?

That would be the one, chip also done a stream with them mate. Shameful

Think she’s just streaming to promote another casino for Chipmonkz can only have soo many(too many) to promote winstonbet I think it was

I've seen her on a few videos, its a pretty big breach of advertising guidelines, and as he's already in breach of quite a few, shows he knows nothing about what he's doing, or doesn't care.
