UK Gambling commission to look into £2 stake limit for online slots. Decision within 6 months

I usually play at anywhere between 20p and £1 stakes, dependent on bankroll. However, I had a good run last week and upped to £3 spins on BOD. Ended up cashing out over a grand from a free £2 loyalty chip.

My point is, why shouldn't people be able to do a few a few spins at a bigger bet than normal if on a good run?
Well suppose it is like the min pricing on alcohol when it’s implemented it will be illegal just like the smoking and drinking was ruining life’s the government took action and it’s now the turn of on line gambling.
Don’t get me wrong last week I was doing £4 spins on bonanza because I was on a good run and my balance allowed it unfortunately some people aren’t as disciplined or they have been watching streamers and think it’s easy.

yes the FOBT nearly happened. They nearly went with 5 at a £400 jackpot instead. Main issue with that was the room they take up so it never happened.

I was for it on the FOBTS but £10 max, £2 was and is nonsense

“we” as in the Royal “we”

I work for GVC. started off at Ladbrokes then Coral then LC now GVC!

My first thought on this is that table games will die if this comes in, playing Blackjack at a max of £2 wont make sense, the same as Roulette. I would think high rollers are more likely to be hitting £100 and £200 hands on Blackjack than that size bet on a slot, though i could be wrong.

But then you still have the issue of the people who have built up a big bankroll from nothing or are funding their play via a big withdraw from elsewhere. Why shouldn't these people be able to up the bet?

In current SOW checks winnings from other casinos can be accepted as funds you can gamble, you just need to be able to provide proof of them and that they still exist.

In that speculative future situation, it would be much harder to know how long and which bet size your max bet could be increased if you have XXXXX pounds winnings on your account.

No believing that there would be such a compromise that your max bet would be based on your sustainable income, that wouldn't make much sense without controlling losses as well and like already pointed out, we have plenty of slots where you can throw quite good amount of money in one night with £2 bets.

Not much to do but hope they really not willing to take that step to control people from using their money. And like pointed out, it would be golden mine for some Curacao casinos where some of them could start to do fair business if can attract high rollers from UK to spend there instead, keeping these type of players not going to happen if not paying winnings but this change could change some habits of few of these to be nice to their VIP:s and build better reputation.

Not really see what UK would win by this kind of rulings.

One could argue that building up a small balance with 'sensible' bets, getting to a much higher balance and knocking out huge bets (huge = £5 - 20 stakes) is irresponsible gambling.

By the same token the whole concept of gambling is impulse and the odd reckless splurge. I'd imagine the desensitization and normalizing of big bets owes a lot to streamers' current penchant for doing them. A lot of sheeple being drawn in, and streamers warping expectation. Yeah I went there (again)

Said what about who??

You are not alone with these, if it helps at all, in Germany there are rumours for €1 max bets (but making difference to slots and table games)....
Sources that have seen the current draft of the Glücksspielneuregulierungsstaatsvertrag tell iGB that casino regulations are split between licences for ‘virtual slot machines’ and online casino games.

The slot licence effectively allows operators to provide an online equivalent of a land-based gaming arcade, without the other casino games. There will be significant additional restrictions, such as a €1 per spin stake limit.

In addition each spin must last at least five seconds, no autoplay function will be allowed, and licensees will not be able to offer slot jackpots. This effectively transplants the current regulations for gaming machines in arcades and pubs online, our source explained.

For operators one option if these happen is just apply one license more and make some brand to operate under Curacao license and promote that to affected players and then cancel UKGC license. Problem solved.

I've said it before, the UKGC are getting too big for their boots and this is just yet another example of nannyism in action.

As an aside, won't this just drive more people to the ultra high variance slots more? The ones that can see you thousands down in no time at all, even on £1 stakes?

It's not them who are pushing the agenda. Do you think they, as the governing body, want to kill the industry making their jobs all but meaningless?

It’ll be the mp’s and parliament who actually decide this. It’s irrelevant what contacts you have With providers or casinos as certain desperate streamers are spouting saying they have info it won’t happen.
a £2 max wouldn’t bother me as it won’t rarely won’t bother the majority as stats here on the small poll prove.
however this controlling Of people in the uk is bordering 1984..
I mean they cut the sugar in my Dr Pepper, that’s way more important to me than a max stake on a slot.

Forgot to mention irn-bru.
that fine beverage was also ruined, you can get real Dr Pepper from Mexico, cane sugar but isn’t cheap to import. Done it a few time’s, glass bottle aswel. Would choose it anyday over a fine champagne.

Your “palate” is the roof of your mouth, and by extension, your sense of taste. A “palette” is the flat board an artist mixes paint on (or by extension, a range of colors). A “pallet” is either a bed (now rare) or a flat platform

so here, it would be palate :)
