UEFA Euro 2024: Expectations?

Wow, a real Arrogant-Off between these two, but it seems the Spanish have out-arroganted the French at their own game by being arrogant AND thugs!

Led by none other than Handball Meastro 2024, Cucurella himself, what a sight to behold!

Thus far my predictions have been close....but WRONG! :o

Let's see if I can get one right (or closer)

I did say right at the start, I felt England would be losing finalists again and I can see them "limping" past the Dutch tomorrow (fingers crossed)

Only to be embarrassed by the deserved winners Spain in the final.

Do hope England get to final as Mom's offered to do a family (well me, her, kids n wife) buffet/meal/party type thing and I could do with the "pick me up" right now.

You just saw the deserved winners of the tournament. If England qualify for final, can you honestly imagine the inept, intransigent Mouthgate beating a proper footballing side who can make space, pass the ball forward, pass it quickly and score goals?:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Only really one thing left to do for the hosts as they welcome the finalists on Sunday.

With relations between Germany and Spain somewhat strained, Holland not on their Christmas Card list and having had a 'couple of disagreements' with England historically, the only choice is becoming crystal clear...

No closing ceremony

No PA announcer

'Technical hitches' during worldwide broadcast

One football, semi-deflated

Over-water the pitch for ensuing hilarity

Check every decision via VAR, including throw-ins

and.....

Send off both sides' goalkeepers for dissent in the opening exchanges

What a Final that'd be (tears roll down)

England v Netherlands already has the match-fixing referee... so I guess we'll have to see what they have in store for the final.

Not surprisingly, Spain already big favourites for the final, trading at 1.65 to lift the trophy. England start as slight favourites against Netherlands, but expected to be a cagey affair (1.57 for under 2.5 goals in 90 minutes, 2.92 for draw in 90 minutes).

Somewhat curiously Betfair have already deployed both finals as markets - neither on enough volume to give an accurate price, but England WD (90m) against Spain is in the 3.60 ballpark for those interested.

I am not holding out much hope for tonight, but hope I will. Double edged sword though as I cannot stand Gareth Southgate, but will be willing the eleven England players on the field on.

I guess going into the game without much belief means I won't be too disappointed if the result goes against us, which our tactics under Southgate all point to.

Today: England's big day in EURO 2024 football.

TBH, i thought England won't get past Denmark, but today i have gut feeling that England will win. They're on lucky streak like @interlog on Bonanza with 1, 2k wins nearly every day, lol

The bars will be absolutely packed in Amsterdam, no doubt populated by many an England supporter.

Thankfully then, there's always the Dutch police to keep things in check

So THAT's why Dunover likes going to Amsterdam so much. Affiliate conference my eye....

Speaking of Harry Enfield characters....

That Angry Frank character reminds me of a CM member.
I mean, there's an UNCANNY AND GENUINE LIKENESS.....apart from the hair that is.

Any ideas who it could possibly be mate?

OI! STARMER! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Time to embarrass myself once again lol....

2-0 or maybe 3-1 England and not a penalty shoot out in sight

*If I don't revisit this page after today, you'll know why! :p
Jono, we have got on very well round these parts for many a year.
So I say this with the utmost sincerity and from the bottom of my heart....

HAVE A FUCKING WORD WITH YOURSELF MATE....

Nice to see Dutch and English supporters joining together to create a real 'feel-good vibe' ahead of tonight's game

Reminds me of when they were grouped together in the last Euros to be hosted in Germany in '88 (which was smack bang in the middle of a spell when English clubs were banned from European club competitions - due to the Heysel disaster in '85).

IIRC, during that tournament, a group of German "fans" got involved in numerous skirmishes (with English AND Dutch "fans") as well to make it a rather confrontational trifecta.

Jude booked by the match fixer he called out while playing for Dortmund.

Probably muttering to himself "what took the c*nt so long?"
I can't stand him jude, got a real bad attitude every game this tournament.

Throwing his hand up and jogging bk. Kids got Marcus Washford tendencies if you ask me, haha

Someone remind me when England last played well in both halves, I'll be here 👉

They had a chance to peg the opposition back within the first 15 minutes of the 2nd half, but retreated back into Southgateball...

England are more than capable of a one-off moment of magic, but Holland have asserted themselves, and it's all orange 🤷‍♂️

England proving they have strength in depth and match-winners akimbo.

Only thing left to do now is make a couple of 'Chess-like' sacrifices and break Yamal & Olmo's legs and hope for a counter with the nine men!

COME ON ENGLAND!

Second Euros final in a row. This time we better not fuck it up!

But I predicted spain in this thread at the start. They have been super strong. It is going to be a super tough match.

In all seriousness, I want to see Southgate gone after this Euros.

But the future for England is looking very bright.
Even when Kane eventually retires there is plenty out there to fill the void.
Plenty of good, young and pacey players.

Get a manager who takes the leash off those speedy players and they could terrorise opponents.

England have the tools to be the major threat to Spanish dominance in Europe for the next decade.

Southgate is one jammy c*nt though.
