TV 2020

On a sadder note; Daybreak never got a season 2.

So whilst the walking dead continues into season 45, rehashing storylines from seasons 2-7 and generally making u wish u were dead, this fun series gets binned. Cruel word :-(
ya, it was decent fun
Deadly Class too also axed

Haven't finished watching DayBreak yet but I am enjoying it

Also, Black Summer lives to fight another day - err, season. Another one I enjoyed.

Everytime something new comes on I usually give it a while before I start watching. Hate finishing season 1 and then going ‘where’s 2’, to find it’s been cancelled

To be honest I think most shows should come with max 5 seasons. Anything more is ripping the arse out if and my attention spans bad enough

ya, I'll usually do a sit down season binge, then I've also an idea of whether I should even bother usually knowing by then whether renewed/cancelled

@Jono777 @goatwack

Seeing that you guys are HARD to please.

There are 33 seasons of my ALL TIME Favourite Soapie - The Bold and The Beautiful.

I'm currently on Season 33 Episode 105

You won't be disappointed - treachery, infidelity and skanky women from start to finish..

Nate
I'm old, all I remember was TYatR (Y&R) and Mrs Chancellor had Nina locked in the basement :p

OK...over it comes. C&P as ordered....requested. :D

Just finished watching Ragnarok - a Norwegian series set in the fictional town of Edda (named after a Medieval Icelandic literary work), based around the high school students, and a newcomer to the town (Magne Seier) who is actually a modern day version of Thor, although he doesn't know it.

The first season deals with the thorny issue of climate change (there is even an amusing reference to Greta Thunberg), shrinking glaciers, poisoned water and corruption in Edda, and the adult community's inability to act as the town's major employer (Jutul Industries) is quite possibly responsible.

The Jutuls are the "giants' from Norse Mythology - the enemy that Magne has to fight, even though he doesn't know how.

And the music when Magne rages against Isolde's death/fights with Vidar is stunning. Anyone who watched the final episode of Mr Robot will recognise this:

PS: I chose this particular YouTube video because of the music, NOT the Russian subtitles. :)

Is the series in Norwegian with subtitles?

Nate

also in the DL (to-do) file though honestly, sub-titled are hard to suck me in

There is also a dubbed version - the dubbing isn't actually too bad.

My hearing isn't the best these days - too many rock concerts when I was but a girl (Led Zep, I'm looking at you!!!) - so I watch everything with subtitles. With Ragnarok though, dubbing is available.

Sounds a bit like my house TBH - too close to home.

dang, def grabbed wrong copy; will re-look

Actually, I don't think there is a dubbed version after all. I am just so used to subtitles, I think I automatically translate the subtitles into actual speech, so even though the speech was out of sync with the subtitles I just assumed dubbing.

Sorry.....:(

Just went into the series again....the subtitles are actually spoken by the characters, so is that dubbing?

Season 3 of The Handmaid's Tale will start soon for NL, Belgium already started with a few episodes since December. Excellent acting in this dystopian tv show.

Strike Back, season 7, has now been released by HBO, lots of action and witty dialogues (imo)!

The 6th season of Peaky Blinders is in the works... I can feast my eyes once more on Cillian Murphy!

Personally I'm looking forward to catching up on Hunters, its M.O being that of Al Pacino and gang hunting down ze Nazis, what a preposterously batshit premise. But what's not to love!

Not sure Mega City One's even happening anymore, the supposed Judge Dredd realization. Karl Urban's supposed to reprise his role from the film, but I fear he'll be Judge Gramps by the time the show's finalized

I would have as well but after watching, or at least 4 attempts of watching, the most boring and turgid film (The Irishman) my brain has linked Pacino - DeNiro to it :(

What a waste of time that one was.

And it was only on season 2, part 2, of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (yeah, i know, don't judge) that i was told that one of the aunts was Dawn (my 2002 crush) from the UK's The Office. Holy Moly :eek2:

At least that show has the church of satan. Beats De Niro's 8 hrs long monology in the Irishman any day of the week.

But but De Niro....Pesci....Scorsese

I thought it won awards and shizz
yes, but is that a metric? wasnt years winner about a woman who gets jiggy with a fish?

edit - 2 years ago I guess

Scorsese - yes. Pesci - yes. But but De Niro -- IMO mostly overrated (Taxi Driver excluded) as an actor.
Uhm Meet The Parents?

♪ Jinxy cat Jinxy cat where are you, I love you ♪

The one with Ben Stiller? Sure De Niro was ok in that. Hard not to be when you're up against Ben Stiller. Could have been worse though. Like Adam Sandler.
Adam Sandler made me half-smile once I believe, probably in Jack & Jill. Probably because of him thinking he was funny

Scorcese fell asleep during the awards sure but he stayed awake longer than those who watched that coma inducer ;-)

I thought you might take to the Dark Lord, unholy companion ;-)

Not heard of Strike Back, so I will have to investigate that. I don't think I have access to The Handmaid's Tale, and am simply not interested in Peaky Blinders....or Cillian Murphy. Sorree Mouchey..

A bit like Marriage Story.... I love Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson but this was a load of old misandrist rubbish.

The Shape of Water. I loved that film, and even though the ending was ambiguous - I like to go with the theory that she actually was of the same species as fishman (the marks on her neck which possibly were closed off gills) and they lived happily ever after.

Adam Sandler made me half-smile once I believe, probably in Jack & Jill. Probably because of him thinking he was funny
I actually liked him in The Wedding Singer with Drew Barrymore - thought he was engaging and sympathetic instead of his usual idiotic characterisations.

Superb older british comedy

Probably nothing happened, as they are more "The Unlikely Men" now due to the wear and tear of old age. Sigh.

humour def isnt universal; didnt so much as crack a smile :eek2:
that that British dry wit we hear about?

To be fair the episodes are better than these snippets but if you didnt like that i guess you probably wouldnt like it. Yes, humour is not universal, dry is a fav of mine.

Edit: @dionysus Only Fools & Horses must be the exception to that rule though, surely that one spans all?

if that's a tv show (Fools and Horses) never heard of that one.

Yeah, I'm sure a lot of that show above is cultural. I enjoy dry, I guess the catch is being relevant (to your region)
